With essentially zero mat time, I think Ferguson would have a tough time just beating Egli, let alone pinning him.

With mat time beating Egli is no easy task. Would be the match of the day in my opinion.

Did you just day Hudkins could UPSET him??? There is noone that hudkins can beat at almost any weight from 126 down except Chad Red that would be considered an upset.

Bailey with another win over Elliot. Good stuff!!! The underclassmen in this weight class are taking Indiana wrestling to a new level!!! Proud of there hard work! Reitz, Bailey or Egli in my opinion will be 120 champion. Again I will say depends on the way they draw in. They are in my mind the favorites in this weight! Hudkins is the only one I think could upset them IF he is 100%! He is a great wrestler! Great counter offense! Great positioning on his feet! Reitz is still my pick! He will be at his best @ State! It will be a FUN one to watch!!!

Great job Jeremiah!!! If I have to pick a favorite it is going to be Him!! I hope to see Hudkins and Reitz in the finals!!! I will go ahead and call Reitz!!! But there are so many great kids here, Black obviously a serious threat, and they all match up so oddly!!! Like I said its gonna be fun!!! 

I can vibe with that. This shouldn't be about us. This should be about two kids that may be "all-timers" one day. Kudos to both, let the competition tell the story.

Fair enough. I was partially trying to be funny, but still make the point that I found your initial, un-clarified point to be outrageous. No malice here either. I disagree with part of what you are saying, but not all. I agree that if you lost, you lost. Period. You should never make excuses, and you should absolutely own the fact that you got bested. Failure to do so is just poor sportsmanship, and you will miss out on the opportunity to get better. On that point, we totally agree.

 

On the other hand, to suggest that the question about whether or not he got caught equals "scrub mentality" is short-sighted in my opinion. Again, in my opinion. You are totally entitled to your own opinion. One time, I caught a kid who was about to tech-fall me. If we would have wrestled 99 more times, he would have beat me 99 times. He was better than me. Period. I caught him. Period. Just as it would have been ridiculous for him to make an excuse for the loss, it would be intellectually dishonest for me not to acknowledge that I "caught" him. It is just a fact that it sometimes happens in wrestling. There is definitely a difference between out-wrestling someone, and catching them in bad position and capitalizing.

 

With all of that being said, I am in no way implying that anyone got caught in the Reitz vs Black match. I wasn't there. The question as to how Black pinned Reitz, however, was a legitimate one.

 

Hope the next match is awesome. Both are outstanding wrestlers. Should be exciting!

Your backhanded way you think you are trying to expose me is funny. Everyone knows who I am including Y2 and the other moderators. If I'm out of bounds I'd be off here pronto. I know that. However I need to articulate my previous statement more clearly. Don't take away from another kids accomplishment by insinuating he somehow he got lucky or caught his opponent. I don't know Jeremiah Reitz but believe he is a great wrestler and could easily win state again. However I do know Brendan Black and I know he is a dangerous opponent who wrestles the best season in season out. When 2 accomplished opponents wrestle the results should not be diminished by "he got caught" talk. I'm entitled to have my opinion on the matter and to me that's scrub mentality. What I recommend for you is that you brush up on your wrestling knowledge and insight. Because obviously don't understand wrestling at a high level if you don't understand philosophically that a pin is going to be pin no matter what the score was prior. In the paper or on Indianamat the results will say winner by pin loser by fall.

Yea reitz tried to dive under to stale mate black bundled the elbow to his back for 5 reitz fought off his back and black reloaded a half and pinned him at 1:56. Black looked good he was bigger then reitz. Reitz took the loss like a true champion shook his hand and walked off. What's crazy is they can wrestle confrence next week at Hobart invite in 2 weeks sectionals regionals semi state!

Reitz is the real deal! Great kid from a Great Family! I expect to see him under the lights!!! When a kid like him gets pinned its usually a mistake that does not get repeated. Go Jer!!!

"Catch"? Some people really don't understand wrestling. If I pin you it doesn't matter if you are winning at the time or I was. I won. When some one knocks some one out it's the same deal. When I hear someone say " I got caught" I know they have scrub mentality.

Thanks! Black is a great competitor! Reitz is a class act! It will be interesting to see what happens the next 4 times they wrestle. 

Haven't seen Brendan in a while. What did the match look like. Did he catch Jeremiah or was it as dominant as a pin in the first sounds?

Brenden is tough for sure. Haven't seen him in a while. Impressive win! 120 just got even more interesting!

I am glad to hear that! Going to be a good time! Lots of great kids in this weight class, who are keeping the bar set high in Indiana! If Hudkins is back I would say this will be the most loaded weight class in our tourney for sure!

Jeremiah Reitz is a beast...it would be an oversight not to include him in the conversation of the best 120s in the state

I did have a little bald guy yelling every EMD kids name in my ear that was from another school down south. He reminded me of The old bald guy on the Benny Hill Show!!

I doubt either of you are from Madison or Floyd, so no real need to take shots at the kids or pump the kids up. Young and Cunningham had a phenomenal match at HHC Duals, I would guess there match ups at HHC and regionals (should they match up) will again be great matches. I wouldn't be shocked to see them split. 

 

I've heard Floyd is bringing in some Greco technician to help train for the match, could be the difference!!
