I was at the seed meeting years ago when Wright and Kieffer were seeded number 2 and 3 at sectionals. Common sense failed to prevail there. You have to have coaches who will show integrity and do what's best for all wrestlers. I always want to get my kid the best possible seed, but if they haven't earned it, then they shouldn't have it. If my kid lost to somebody they shouldn't have, then in my mind they hurt themselves. I'm not going to lie about it just so they can be seeded higher. Common sense and integrity of coaches have to be present in addition to the seeding criteria for the state series.

Rumor has it that Mac Taylor from New Castle is taking the head coaching job at Connersville. Can anybody confirm this?

I'm looking into getting new mats for our high school team. Anybody have any thoughts on the best type of mat? Three sections, one section, flex roll? What's going to get the best bang for your buck?

Yes...that's when I get the gray screen and a play button I can't push.

In the 4s vs 1s I could Kleimola over Paris happen.
You must not have seen Parris wrestle any this year. This kid is an unbelievable athlete. Throw his age out the window, because he beat some very good wrestlers Saturday at New Castle. He beat Stewart 3-1 bit was never in danger of losing, then pinned James, and beat Morales 7-3 in a match that Morales was trying not to get pinned. I can't wait to see him and Osborne!

Does anyone know the details of Parris vs James?
I was following on track and it looked like James scored the first td. Parris escaped, and took James down. After that it disappeared from track so I don't know if it was straight to his back or what.

Glad to see Trevor at sectional today. Hate it that he didn't compete but glad he gets to wake up every day. Good luck on your road to recovery.

South Dearborn has to be the front runners in my opinion. Not many weak holes in that lineup. Franklin County is very solid too though. Haven't seen East Central yet this year, or Greensburg. We won't see Greensburg until conference, and we see East Central at New Palestine for an individual tournament in January. Rushville is young but has some talented wrestlers. Hopefully we can put a wrench into a few peoples plans at conference!

It really is sad that this event is the same weekend as Team State. This tournament use to be one of the toughest in the state with teams like Avon, Bloomington North, Evansville Reitz, East Central, Ft. Wayne Snider, North Central, Warren Central, and New Palestine just to name a few. It seems like the overall talent isn't what it use to be, and with Team State going on, it is even more down. Hopefully there will be some surprises, as always, and we will get to see some talented wrestles people haven't heard of.

At 145, Paxton Caldwell of Connersville pinned Mitchell Burelison of Centerville, as did Gunner Yurack of Rushville. Gunner has also pinned Caldwell twice this year.

C-ville will be at Rushville Super 5. Teams besides C-ville and R-ville will be Batesville, Connersville, Warren Central (JV I think). Tri is usually there but not this year?
Centerville, Connersville, Batesville, Warren Central JV (Still better than most varsity teams) and Rushville. Tri dropped out of this tournament after last season.

I think this goes back to the kids wanting something handed to them instead of working at it. Just because a college coach doesn't see you, then you should just quit? At some point the kids and parents need to help themselves by contacting coaches at colleges they are interested in. I am more than willing to help a kid out who wants to compete in college, but that is a major life event and the decision shouldn't be on me as a coach. That needs to be made by the parents and wrestler. There are ways to compete in college other than being seen by coaches, especially at the division 3 level. Kids just need to be willing to put in the work of contacting coaches, or maybe attending camps at the schools, or going to summer events. There are several ways to get noticed other than just at state.
