  1. I was at the Reitz vs Heritage Hills dual and Reitz lost the head to head. I have seen several duals and the Classic. The 220 from Reitz is solid in every match I have seen but his record is beat up. If there is anyone who could show up and surprise some people its that kid. I am disappointed that Reitz and MD are separated for Sectionals because those were some great matches and every match before the MD/R match meant something to both schools. Central surprised me with the number of Champions at SIAC so there will still be some pep there. Gibson Southern being there will also help keep MD on their toes. This is going to be my last year at Castle because-gasp-my nephew wrestles for MD feeder and I will jump ship to root for my high school nemisis. The only good thing is that he doesnt wrestle east of pigeon creek.
  2. Mater Dei clearly showed at SIAC that they will put many on top of the podium. Anyone have some upsets they would like to predict?
  3. 106 R 113 R 120 R 126 C 132 R 138 Bvl 145 R possible HH upset 152 M 160 R 170 HH 182 HH 195 SS 220 HH possible R upset Hwy TC
  4. If you are a Reitz parent then you know they didnt have a full line up. The team wrestled pretty good and was 5 points from placing second. The remarks made were not an excuse and did not come off that way at all. When a "fan" goes on a blog and talks about how the Reitz team wrestled like a 4th place team when they know there was not even a full line up it is insulting at best to the kids that wrestled hard to earn every victory. That was the jist of it. Several of those kids did show up and wrestle sick and to have "pantherfan/basher" from Castle to say otherwise just shows they have no respect for wrestlers. Lehmen wrestled like a state placer and deserves every accolade he gets. That is exactly what I said. How many "parents" are here from Reitz anyway? I have met most of them and they are all cordial. Me thinks there are some moles on here.
  5. Gibson Southern stepped it up a notch or 3.
  6. Fan, grow up a little. Kuhn lost fair and square to Mater Dei. I never said he was sick but pointed out the obvious. Reitz has had several kids sick and have had people missing from the lineup as well. Thats not an excuse just a fact. Either way Kuhn did a pretty good job on Brown in their head to head last time when Kuhn won 7-1. I am pretty sure it will be a good match from both this weekend.
  7. Lehman came ready to wrestle and without a doubt earned that victory. That being said I have been told by one of the wrestlers dad that the entire Reitz team has been fighting a chest cold and virus over the last 2 weeks and have passed it to each other. Thats no excuse for losing but as a person who has had a very similar chest cold if not the same one I can vouch for the fact it zaps you of almost all your energy and breathing ability. The last few Reitz wrestlers have been unfortunate in catching it this last weekend. They are all glad it was before Sectionals. I do not take anything away from Lehman because that kid looked like a state placer this weekend but a healthy Kuhn is a much different Kuhn. Lehman looks awesome and will be a great wrestler to represent Mater Dei and Evansville in the very near future. How did Lehman do against Mastison? Anyone know?
  8. I looked for the results in the newspaper and couldnt find them.
  9. 132 & 113 are totally up in the air. I still think Kuhn holds a major edge but with Brown and Mastison nothing is safe.
  10. Who ever would have guessed Central High School would have more SIAC Champions than Reitz and Mater Dei?
  11. Those two usually have a conversation among themselves. I have no idea what they could possibly mean.
  12. Someone go out on a limb and make a prediction on who makes the finals of each weight class. I have Reitz in the 106, 113, 120, 126 and 132 finals with some wild cards at 145, 152, 160 and 220 for Reitz.
  13. It kind of goes to what I said. There is literally a 2 man race for every weight and everyone else is fighting for 3rd. I hope there are some surprises but from what matches I have seen there is a big fall off after the top 2. One exceptions is 113 with Mastison. I could see him knocking off Brown.
  14. Might as well wait until after this weekends matches. That should clear up some questionable victories and losses.
  15. Seeding is almost a mute point in half of these weight classes. Its literally a 2 man race for the Championship and a free for all for 3rd.
  16. What are the teams in this new aligned sectional? There is still confusion among the casual fan that only keeps up with their own teams wrestlers.
  17. Me too. Welch is just as phenomenal and gets just a inkling of coverage. Kuhn vs Brown and nothing? Its an injustice to those kids and the sport. There are some good rivalries building with Kuhn, Davis, Todrank and Johns with their MD and Castle counterparts. I hope the SIAC gets some deserved coverage.
  18. It is a shame that Evansville has such awesome athletes like Welch, Wedding, Kuhn, Kelly, Mastison...etc and these students cannot even get a word written about them in their hometown newspaper. The SIAC will hopefully get some coverage.
  19. That's exactly what I was told. Todrank was wrestling him very well. I wish I would have been there. The pin was at the end of the first period and Todrank got caught in a scramble.
  20. I wasn't there and got a text. Apparently the first period buzzer had went off and it was before the flipped to see who wanted what position. I do like the coin flip rule though.
  21. I wasn't there but know Reitz forfeited their last match. I was also told that Todrank was doing very well against Welch and the pin was waved off by the official because it was after the buzzer but the Castle coach ran over to the table and was demanding the pin called and the official called the pin. If I were a coach with that kind of dominate wrestler I would have just let the coin be tossed and continued the match. Todrank was frustrating Welch so the Castle coaches had to take whatever call they could get just to get out of there with the win.
  22. Just got a text that Reitz won 106 - Fall, 113 7-1, 120 16-0, Lost 126 - Fall and Won 132- Fall against Castle.
  23. It was definitely a defense match. I am sure both went in looking for mistakes and neither made a mistake.
