  1. Great wins by Donnell and Carson! TeamGarcia, the 5th Place Match at 285 is up next. Curiosity is killing me. Can someone tell me what Sammy Sosa from Wauseon looks like? ha ha
  2. @125 Drew Hildebrandt has 3 wins and is in the quarterfinals, facing #1 seed and National Champion Spencer Lee. @141 Alec White and Kyle Todrank both got one win in the consolations before bowing out at 1-2. Nathan Boston lost in the Round of 16 and dropped to the consis. @149 Brayton Lee is in the Quarterfinals with wins over two seeded wrestlers, #10 Cole Martin 3-2 TB1 and #7 Anthony Artalona 5-3. Both are nice wins. As a reward he faces #2 Seed Alec Pantaleo of Michigan. @149 Tristan Sellmer dropped 2 straight. @149 Graham Rooks lost by TF to #1 seed Matthew Kolodzik, won 1 in the consis before losing to Sammy Sasso by fall and finishing 1-2. @157 Kasper McIntosh dropped 2 straight. @165 Brad Laughlin dropped a 7-1 dec. to Anthony Valencia, won one in the consis and bowed out falling 7-6 to Jake Allar of Minnesota, finishing 1-2. @174 Ben Harvey won his first match by major and then lost a heart breaker to former Cadet World Champ Aaron Brooks. Harvey scored a reversal with :22 remaining to lead 8-6. Brooks escaped and scored a takedown and two nearfall points with :07 remaining. A riding time point made it a 12-8 win for Brooks. I think Brooks was mis-seeded by talent, but with only one tournament this year so far its difficult. @184 Jacob Gray won his 1st match then fell to the top seed Drew Foster. He dropped to the consolations and will face fellow Hoosier Thomas Penola. @184 Thomas Penola dropped a tough first found match in SV, then bounced back with a win by major and will face Gray next. @197 David Eli won his 1st match by major then fell to the top seed Patrick Brucki. @197 Brothers Andrew and Lucas Davison both had two solid decision wins and are in the quarterfinals. Fortunately they are on opposite sides of the bracket. @197 Bobby Steveson dropped 2 straight. @285 Mason Parris bumped to the #5 seed and has won two straight by 2nd period fall. He faces #4 seed Trent Hilger of Wisconsin in the quarterfinals. The next session starts at 7:00 central time tonight.
  3. Moran, Washington and Brewer the only three from IN in the finals or did I miss someone? When do the finals start? And are they starting at 138 as Track W has them loaded now?
  4. @160 Logan Johnson Belleville West wins 4-2 SV1 over Clay Singleton. Singleton looked tough and lost too stalling points to allow OT. Despite losing, was impressed with Singleton. Stephen Little of Union County has to be kicking himself. He finished 3rd after losing a pigtail match, beating James Kraeszig in a rematch of that pigtail. @170 Micah Ervin was too strong for Macartney Parkinson with Ervin notching a 3-1 win. @182 Dakx Lannert injury defaults to Nathan Willman of North Posey. @195 Franklin Community's Harris Eason takes the crown with a 3-0 win over Brendan Richardson of Downers Grove South.
  5. Lee has shown the ability to ride on top this year. Still remains to be see what he can do from the bottom against a tough top guy. Definitely looks quicker and stronger on his feet.
  6. @132 Stream had issues for much of the match. Tight match but Clay Egli, down 3-2, gets a takedown wiith :22 left and back points to win 7-3 over Gabe Adams. @138 Trevor Pogue takes a 1-0 win over Blaine Mayer. An exciting, action filled match for 1-0! @145 Matt Lee won by Major over Jonathan Kervin of Floyd Central. This is one time where Kervin's length hurt him as Lee was too quick and consistently able to get the single leg and finish. Not sure how Kervin stacks up with others near the top of the state rankings, but he's definitely improved. @152 Eli Dickens comes out on fire and gets a takedown right away. He logs a workmanlike 11-4 decision over Union Co's Dalton Russelburg
  7. FINALS 106 Alec Freeman 7-1 win over Trayce Eckman 113 Cole Ross win over Josh Koderhandt (Inj def?) - Ross was hurt by being slammed on his head and awarded a penalty point. Would that not make the win a DQ? 120 Blake Boarman 20-5 TF over Matt Straus of Downers Grove South 126 Sam Bacon dec 7-4 over Kane Egli 132
  8. Great finish in OT with Littell getting a win over Bettich. Bettich almost had a TD and Littell rolled through and got the TD and back points. Match could have gone either way. Not sure who the announcers are, but it was interesting in that they didn't really have much of a clue about either wrestler, only about the schools in general. Also kept referring to playing and great plays. Appreciate what they are doing, but a different experience with voices without a ton of knowledge.
  9. Finals and placement matches (to 6th Place) to begin soon.Wrestlers on mats warming up. While waiting, the Al Smith Finals have started and video is free. 120 lbs Brayden Littell and Riley Bettich up next. Al Smith Finals You Tube
  10. lol, I'm juggling the MD Classic, Al Smith, Brecksville, The Midlands and the Michigan - Florida Peach Bowl. Someone should pay me!
  11. 120 at Evansville is going to be one hell of a battle. Four of the top 7 in the State all together. Whoever draws the 4th placer will have their hands full in Banker's Life! #1 Brayden Littell #2 Blake Boarman #5 Devon Casebolt #7 Kysen Montgomery
  12. Brayton Lee with a win over 10-seed Cole Martin of Wisconsin 3-2 TB1
  13. An hour or so? I don't think they are taking a break. In consolation semifinals now, about halfway through
  14. Should be a good litmus test for him, given the results last year.
  15. He was a SS Qualifier and lost to Blake Mulkey in the ticket round last year. What stood out to me is how long/tall he is. He got taken down initially by Carr and then dominated from that point.
  16. Do you have an approximate time? I'm juggling the MD Classic, Brecksville, AL Smith, The Midlands and the Florida - Michigan football game!
  17. @195 Mt. Vernon's Luke McGennis dropped a 3-2 decision to Harris Eason of Father Ryan. The final will match up Eason vs. Brendan Richardson of Downers Grove South. @220 It's an all KY final with Matthias Ervin and Ben Depriest of St. X. @285 Gibson Southern's Aaron Brievogel dropped a 5-1 decision to Father Ryan's Felix Wilson setting up a Tennessee vs. Illinois final.
  18. In the two consolation matches I mentioned this morning: @138 Ty Lehman, Louisville Trinity won the rematch with Tell City's Trey Mucker 5-4 @160 Union Co's Stephen Little beat MD's Gabe Sollars 5-2.
  19. Quick update (consolations)" @106 Logan Miller BB with a win to guarantee placement. @113 Blaze Garcia Avon with a win (see above) and a loss in the blood round. @113 KT Nelson BB with a win to guarantee placement @120 Tyler Conley Avon with a win to guarantee placement @126 Brock Peele Port with a win and a loss to Ray Rioux in the blood round. @126 Ray Rioux Avon beats Brock Peele to guarantee placement @132 Drake Campbell BB with a win to guarantee placement @132 Ricky Hegedus Port with a win and a loss in the blood round. @138 Drew Kreitzer BB with a win over Jaden Reynolds to guarantee placement @138 Jaden Reynolds Avon with a win and a loss to Kreitzer in the blood round @145 Roy Reynolds Avon lost and DNP @160 Peyton Asbury BB with two wins to guarantee placement @170 Thierry Jean-Baptist BB with a win and a loss in the blood round. @220 Jayden Williams Avon with a loss and DNP @285 Dorian Keys BB with a loss and DNP
  20. @145 Matt Lee held serve with a 5-2 win over Nate Wheeler of St. X. He'll face Jonathan Kervin of Floyd Central in the final, who majored Union Co. Brave Payne Carr. Lee won by TF over Kervin in this event last year. Look forward to seeing how they match up this year. @152 Eli Dickens came out blazing with a take down in the first 8 seconds and cruised to a 14-4 win over IL State ranked Robert Major of Downers Grove South. He'll face Dalton Russelburg of Union Co. @160 Clay Singleton is stating his case for being ranked by downing James Kraeszig 3-1. He'll face Belleville West's Logan Johnson in the final. @170 Macartney Parkinson squeezed out a tough 4-2 win over Parker Peterson. He faces KY #1 ranked Micah Ervin of Union Co in the final. @182 North Posey's Nathan Willman dominated en route to the final. He'll face MD's Dakx Lannert who won a 15-9 dec over Tyler Hawhee of Tell City.
  21. Mater Dei jumps out quickly with two solid wins. @106 Alec Freeman won by fall over FR's McAfee. He'll face Union Co.'s Trayce Eckman who majored Chris Newman 13-3. @113 Cole Ross dominated with 7-0 decision. Josh Koderhandt of Belleville West prevented an Indiana state ranked matchup, winning by fall over Gavin Alstott. The 3rd period fall came with leading 6-2. @120 Blake Boarman gets a 1st period fall. @126 Kane Egli wins by fall. Will face Sam Bacon of Union Co. in the final. @132 Clay Egli won a tough 3-0 decision over Tyler Fuqua. He'll face Union Co.'s Gabe Adams. Adams majored Luke Dezember 12-2. @138 Blaine Mayer eked out a 3-2 decision over KY #5 ranked (at 132) Zach Pledger. In another UC vs MD battle, Mayer will face Trevor Pogue.
  22. Some matches/potential matches today that caught my eye... Not necessarily in any order. @106 There are two strong battles this morning in the semis. Undefeated Chris Newman of Mt. Vernon will be challenged by Tracye Eckman of Union Co. in one semifinal. Eckman is ranked #11 in Kentucky and this is Newman's chance to break into the IN State Rankings. He's at #5 in the Eville SS. MD's Alec Freeman will face Father Ryan's Brooks McAfee who is ranked #5 at 113 in Tennessee's D2 rankings. @113 the semifinals are solid as well. MD's Cole Ross faces another Father Ryan ranked wrestler, Calvin Eason #4 @106. Saw Eason once yesterday and he looked impressive. IL 3A #3 ranked Josh Koderhandt squares off with Gavin Alstott of Floyd Central. Barring one of the out of state guys breaking through, it will set up a finals of Ross/Alstott, ranked #s 1&2 in the Eville SS and #s 4 & 6 in the State. @126 A potential final between MD's Kane Egli and KY 2nd Ranked and State Runner Up Sam Bacon of Union Co looks like it could be a good one. @132 Franklin Community's Tyler Fuqua looks to break into the rankings against MD's Clay Egli in one semi. The other matches up provides nice fireworks with KY #2 Gabe Adams facing TN large class #2 @126 Luke Dezember. @138 in the consolations, Trey Mucker of Tell City faces a rematch with Louisville Trinity's Ty Lehman. Mucker won the pigtail battle 3-1 in a tight match. @145 MD's Matt Lee will likely have to beat two of Kentucky's best, facing #2 Nate Wheeler of St. Xavier and #3 Payne Carr of Union Co. That is unless undefeated Jonathan Kervin of Floyd Central decides otherwise. Kervin is ranked #8 in the State and #3 in the Eville SS. @152 Illinois 3A #4 Robert Major bumped up from 145 and will face MD's Eli Dickens in one semifinal. The other semi is another Tennessee vs. Kentucky battle. Father Ryan's Jacorey Miller is ranked #3 @145 and Union Co.'s Dalton Russellburg is #8 in KY. This weight gives us one ranked wrestler from 4 states in the semis. @160 Unseeded James Kraeszig drew a pigtail match against #1 seed Stephen Little of Union Co. Kraeszig won, setting up a tough consolation match between Little and MD's Gabe Sollars. In the championship bracket, Gibson Southern's Clay Singleton will look to represent Indiana facing Kraeszig who is ranked #5 @152 in KY. The other semifinal features two State ranked wrestlers, Logan Johnson 3A #6 in Illinois and Father Ryan's D2 #1 Lawrence Madson. Another 4 state championship round! @170 MD's Macartney Parkinson will have to earn a title today with two tough battles. He faces Father Ryan's #2 ranked Parker Peterson in the semifinal and if he advances, he'll likely face KY #1 Micah Ervin in the final. Sorry, I ran out of time to get to the other weights. Westling has begun!
  23. Good catch. His TW profile isn't linked and I just skipped right past him. And you are correct, he is unseeded, drew a bye and will face 2-seed Rivera in his first match.
  24. South Beach Duals Indiana and Purdue are at the Super Duals in South Beach (tough place to be this time of year!) IU starts Saturday at 11 am (Eastern, I assume) against North Carolina. Purdue faces Utah Valley (rematch?) at the same time.
  25. College wrestling heats back up with some major D1 events including The Midlands, South Beach Duals and Southern Scuffle. The Midlands and South Beach Duals are two-day events and begin Saturday 12/29. The Midlands @125 Drew Hildebrandt (Central Mich) is the 9-seed and will face Skyler Petry of Minnesota. @133 An interesting non-Indiana note: Former Ohio State Buckeye Nathan Tomasello entered and is the 1-seed. Don't see college grads enter college tournaments, but the Midlands is an "Open" @141 Former IN State Champ Nathan Boston (Campbell) is the 9-seed and will face Josh Breeding of Princeton. @141 Kyle Todrank (Buffalo) and Alec White (Purdue) are unseeded. Todrank faces Marshall Keller of Princeton. White drew a bye and should face 7-seed Ryan Prater. @149 Graham Rooks (IU - unattached) is unseeded and drew a bye. He will likely face top seed Matthew Kolodzik of Princeton in his first match. @149 Tristan Sellmer (IU) is unseeded and drew a bye. He'll face 11-seed Khristia Olivas of Fresno State @149 Brayton Lee (Minnesota - unattached) is unseeded and drew a bye. He'll face 10-seed Cole Martin of Wisconsin. @149 - Sammy Sasso is the 16-seed and Jacori Teemer is unseeded. Both drew byes and will face each other in their first match. Not IN related, but both have had bouts with Brayton Lee in the past year or two. @157 Kasper McIntosh (Minnesota - unattached) is unseeded and will face 9-seed Quincy Monday of Princeton. @165 Brad Laughlin (Army) is unseeded and drew a bye. He will likely face 5-seed Anthony Valencia (Arizona St - unattached) @174 Ben Harvey (Army) drew a bye and will face Nathan Tausch of Cal Poly. His 2nd match could be against 12-seed Aaron Brooks. Brooks a former Cadet World Champ and Junior World Silver Medalist delayed entry to college (Penn State) and is training at the Olympic Training Center before enrolling next year. He could be a tough draw for Harvey. @184 Jacob Gray (Central Mich) is unseeded and drew a bye. He'll face Niko Cappello of Maryland @184 Thomas Penola (Purdue - unattached) is unattached and drew a bye. He will face 6-seed Mason Reinhardt of Wisconsin. @197 David Eli (Purdue) is unseeded and drew a bye. He'll face Andrew Salemme of Wisconsin. @197 Andrew Davison (Michigan) is the 5-seed and drew a bye. He'll face Andrew Labrie of Brown in his first match. @197 Lucas Davison (Northwestern - unattached) is the 6-seed and drew a bye. He'll face Landon Pelham of Central Michigan. @197 Bobby Steveson (Minnesota) is unseeded and drew a bye. He'll face 7-seed Brandon Whitman of North Carolina - unattached @285 Mason Parris (Michigan - unattached) is the 6-seed and drew a bye. He'll face Terrese Aaron of Northern Illinois - unattached. He'll likely face 11-seed Tony Cassioppi of Iowa - unattached. Parris lost to Cassioppi at either Fargo or Super 32. My apologies if I missed anyone.
