  1. Thanks for your comment coach. But, I must admit that I did miss the large crowd your team usually brings.
  2. For MD to win this match, it is important for them not to give up many points at 195, 220, & 285. It's very possible that UC could get three pins in those three matches. Of course I don't know, but I think MD will wrestle straight up. No real advantage to bumping. I will be there. Should be a great evening of wrestling.
  3. Kayla does not have any control over who her wrestling opponent is. She simply wrestles them. If she beats them, she moves on. She moved on. She wrestles Friday.
  4. I heard from several people who spoke with the CBHS coach, that he was very upset that they did not wrestle MD. According to what I was told, the only reason CBHS agreed to wrestle this event, was to have the opportunity to wrestle MD. Also heard, that CBHS is interested in participating in MD's Holiday Classic next year.
  5. For clarification: CBC - Christian Brothers College High School - St. Louis CBHS - Christian Brothers High School - Memphis CBHS#2 - Christian Brothers High School - Memphis

  7. Berry did not wrestle. He hurt his leg and was in the stands. For MD, Brandenstein went 5-0, with 4 pins and a dec. 11-2 vs Merrillville. Maurer went 5-0, with 4 pins and a dec. 4-2 vs Trinity. Wright went 5-0. Johnson went 5-0. Lannert lost for the 1st time this year, 8-6 to CBC. Some good wrestling at a very nice facility. The scorekeepers were in 'Lala land' much of the day. We were very surprised by that. You could not bring in anything to eat or drink, even if it was for the wrestlers. That's not good. I did notice later on, that somehow the teams did get their coolers into the arena. That's good.

  12. Dane won again tonight against Memorial, winning by fall in the 2nd period. He was up 8-2 when he got the pin.
  13. As a fan of high school wrestling, I have really enjoyed the state of Indiana having an individual and team tournament. It was the best of both worlds. It allowed the individual with outstanding talent to achieve a goal that borders on impossible. Winning an individual state title is just so hard to do, and to actually do it ... well, it's just priceless. On the other hand, the team tournament allowed teams with possibly less individual talent to also have a goal, that of winning a team title. A great number of wrestlers know that they don't possess the skills or talent to win at the individual level, but they have enough talent to be of benefit to the team. Therefore, they come out for the team, and work their tails off. I wonder how this move might affect those 'middle of the road' wrestlers. Will they still come out for wrestling, knowing that they will never have a chance at an individual medal? Time will tell.
