  1. Every year it seems a couple of state level kids decide not to go out for the squads. Any updates on kids not planning on wrestling this year. Terry tipton
  2. HAHA!! Less then 12 hours into opening day and Y2 and Kungus are beating the individual class wrestling drum. No one is listening. This guy had a serious question trying to better the sport and you two just shot that down. When you change the subject and manipulate a question it lets your ignorance show through. So back to the question at hand. Greco coach and Busco wrestling both have examples of sectionals being uneven. This solution should be as simple as moving the team closest to the other sectional. Simple solutions can be the hardest to change with the IHSAA. Good luck and keep up the good fight, and I hope the board can handle another year of class wrestling garbage being spewed out. It seems like less and less people post on here every year and the site has become nothing more then a class vs non class blog. First post of the year and I am already fired up.
  3. I am not saying what Joey does isn't apperciated or important what I was trying to point out is that it is classless for him to try and imply that Carrol's success was all because of him. I have seen him say that the Carrol kids did not get better in the Carrol room and thats rediculous. Its offensive to the Carrol program and it makes himself look very egotistic. Thats all I was saying.
  4. Joey, Would you also say you should be credited with Dekalb, East Noble, Prarie Hieghts, West Nobel, Woodland, and all the other schools success? I know you put in a lot of time and effort and I applaud you on that, but it seems like you want to stroke your own ego all the time its kind of silly for a grown man to think the way you do. To each their own I guess.
  5. Here is what I do know Joey. There are several RTC's in Indiana and no other people that run them have or would claim that they are the main reason for another teams success. Blah bllah blah you said it was the parents, but you also implied it was you that created the Carrol squad. No one else would stoop to that level even if Joey is just trying to make this website worth visiting. FYI I have no ties to Carrol and I could care less about there program, but I do see them as a team on the rise. When you look at their middle school success and the number of kids that are involved with wrestling, you can see that they are doing the right things. Carrol is not the same team they were ten years ago Joey. Just as Snider and Columbia City have not been the powerhouse they were 10 years ago. Teams change in short periods of time and statistics can be thrown out in circumstances like that. Terry Tipton
  6. Still a degree of arrogance with you. I am not going to argue any more about that I think you have proven my point for me. You have proven to me at least that you have a low class way of trying to boost what you do up. Its ok though whatever you have to do to make yourself feel more important. I don't see any of these other RTC guys on here making the claims you make and I don't think I ever will either. I am sure you do a great job, but you can be a real ass in the way you present yourself. Terry "The Truth" Tipton
  7. Come on Joe lets just be honest right here and now. Let me just throw a hypothetical at you. Lets say Whitcko had an offseason room and the Garrett wrestlers were all going there. Then lets say the Whitcko's coach came on a public forum and said something along the lines of Garret's wrestling program is nothing without Whitcko's offseason. Tell me you would not be offended by that. I mean I don't understand if you are ignorant to what you say or if you truthfully think like that. I am not saying you do not do a good job in the offseason I am saying there are somethings you shouldn't try and claim and you stepped over a big line. In addition to that I have heard Carrol has had up to 80 students going out for their wrestling team. I am not for sure, but I am willing to bet you come into contact with only 7 or 8 of them. Maybe they are the better wrestlers, but those wrestlers were good before they came to your room. Carrol's program is building and it rarly has anything to do with you Joe. Once agian I want to thank you for your offseason room, but layoff the rediculous claims.
  8. I love how you act like you have made the Carrol team. You act like you are in their room Monday through Friday. You have hit a new low with your smugness and disrespect of the Carrol program. I mean come on your own team can not produce a stater many years yet somehow you try and take the credit for every tom dick and harry who walks through the door on a random Monday at Garrett High school. Quit lying to yourself Joe. A man who lives on other peoples credentials is no man at all. I hear Tsirtis, Escobedo, Phillips, and Nathan Boston stopped by for an hour and you total changed who they were as wrestlers. Get real.
  9. No actually I don't think Carrol is dominant yet, but they are well on thier way. Any time you get 60-80 guys out for a team you will give yourself a shot. Carrol may not win it this year but they will be a favorite almost every year as long as they can keep their numbers up. Are you implying that your the reason for Caroll's success your a joke. WHat did you do coach a few of them in the offseason? Thats about as arragant statement as I have ever heard. Garret hasn't won anything so maybe your throwing your expertise in the wrong place. Your offensive and a complete joke.
  10. Aoberlin you bring up a lot of good stuff, but I am not in total agreement with everything. I think wrestling can carry over any social or economic class. I rarly bring Carrol (white collar area) into my arguement because they are starting to do the right thing with thier program. They have some 80 wrestlers and are quickly becoming one of northeast Indiana's dominant programs. I have seen that with several wealthy areas(Yorktown, Mater Dei, Mishawaka, ext). I have also seen a lot of the blue collar areas with solid teams(Belmont, Columbia City,a lot of teams in the region, ect). I am just saying it can be done anywhere. One example that comes to mind is Snider. 10 years ago with Indiana Tech coach Ester at the helm they were amongst the top teams in the state. They had full rooms and many guys making state runs. When he left the program died down until last year when they started to put together their program again. You can follow a great coach, they can go anywhere and win. Look at coach Kerby from Columbia City. I believe he started at Bluffton and built a solid team with several state level wresters and a few ACAC titles. Since then the Bluffton program has had a few staters, but the numbers are way down(5 or 6 total wrestlers now). Then he went to Columbia City where he turned one of the worst teams in the NHC into a state powerhouse. He could have coached anywhere and had good success. You could take Belmonts core group of coaches and parents and put them in any Fort Wayne school and in 5 years they would have one of the best wrestling programs in the state. Or You could take any of FOrt Waynes cores and put them in Belmont and the program would quickly deterierate.
  11. Why are you crying like a girl 1oldwrestler. You act as though I am coming down on all big schools, when the truth is 16 or 17 of the top twenty teams are bigger schools. I am only coming down on the Fort Wayne semi states big schools because on a whole they are horrible. You don't hear me complaining that the regions big schools suck. They have quite a few bad big schools, but they also have a few of the big schools that have developed a strong wrestling program. All I am asking for is three or four big schools from fort wayne to develope a competitive wrestling program. Maybe one of them can crack the top ten in the next 5 years. It doesn't look like we will have one next year. On a brighter note I think it would be awsome to see some of the smaller schools coaches take over big schools wrestling. These small schools are good teams year in and year our because they work in the off season and have coaches and parents willing to put in the time. FYI thats not a smart ass remark at all the big schools, I think every big school in the top 20 or 30 has put in a lot of extra time and effort to get their team to where they need to be. Hardwork and dedication are what make teams great for generations. Belmont wrestlers are not better because they are born in Decatur they are better because they put in the time and effort just like all the good teams. Only example that doesn't totally fit that is Yorktown. Im sure Yorktown works really hard, but they will take any goodwrestler in a 100 mile radius to lie cheat or steal a regional title from Belmont. Thought I would throw that in there for fun.
  12. Karl your right on the money with that. I should be honest though, its not just big schools in the city of Fort Wayne its big schools across all of northeast indiana. Besides Elkhart Memorial, Huntington, Carrol, and Snider no big schools in northeast Indiana have showed up in the past 15 years. Snider is on the rise with a tremendous turn arround last year. Last years genius rankings show how down these schools really are. In the AAA with 102 big schools, Fort Wayne's top teams come in at 14th, 19th, 31th, 39th, and 41st( the whole semi state) We only have 5 big schools in the top half of teams. In both the smaller divisions Fort Wayne has 6 teams in the top 10. If we were semi competitive in the top division we would be the best semi state in the state. I want to see that happen Fort Wayne has been down to long.
  13. The ACAC would smoke the Sac even though thier enrollment isn't even close. The SAC has 11448 total students compared to the ACAC's 4449. THats almost a 3 to one student ratio. I would love to see a roster for a first, second and third team ACAC vs the SAC. THe ACAC produces way more state level guys and is deeper then the SAC in 90 % of the weight classes. Fort Wayne is not living up to their end of the bargin. Its as simple as that.
  14. Your right billy Blanton may have graduated, but Bobby, Barry, Bart, Buddy, Brian, and Ben should all be back. JK but I think most of them return according to sectional info.
  15. I believe Alexandria has all 8 Blanton Boys back on the team next year so they should be solid. Also look out for one Penn High School. I dislike Penn to the fullest, but it looks like they are here to stay.
  16. I think that teachers have been unrightfully pegged as greedy and whatnot, but the truth is the country and state need to cut funds from a ton of places. If we sat one member from every government funded job in a room, and told them to reach a decision on what to cut I am more then willing to bet the room would end in a stalemate. I wish the cuts and changes were not so extreme, but the education system as well as many other government sectors have been living beyond their means for quite some time. Its simple math they take more then we take in. What is the state suppose to do? Should they keep paying people more then they take in or should they try and fix the problem? FYI I am not a huge mitch Daniels guy, but at least he has a plan to fix the problem. Its either that or give even more money to the government so they can piss it away. Listen to some Ron Paul sometime. He wants to defund the whole Department of Education and let the states take it back over. It sounds scary, but the DOE doesn't do jack but regulate something that should already be done at the state level. Just more governement regulation that helps skyrocket the cost of education. Just my thoughts Terry Tipton
  17. FWWrestler you act as though any of Fort Waynes teams are powerhouses in the area. Get real. Even if you take the NHC schools they have done relativly nothing for a long time. None of the Fort Wayne schools have produced any type of great teams since at least the early 2000's. You could argue Carrol was a great team last year, but they still didn't make it anywhere, and the area was down on a whole. Two years ago the best team in Fort Wayne was Carrol and they didn't even win an average sectional. To argue that Fort Wayne is even a good area for wrestling is flat out biased. Fort Wayne's regional has the most students by a large margin and is only above the peru regional in the semi state. (Not to mention a strong portion of the semi staters come from surronding areas in the Carrol Regional.) So get off your high horse I am just telling it like it is. FYI i am not trying to say that small schools carry the semi state what I am trying to say is that Fort Waynes small schools produce good talent(for their size) every year while the city of Fort Wayne rarly ever produces what they should.
  18. I heard hes running from Todd, Brooks, Phillips, and Petrov. I would. No shame in that.
  19. Why are you hating on a small team division. It actually gives the city of Fort Wayne a shot to get a school into the team state finals. Not having to compete with the tiny schools would allow a spot for a big crappy Fort Wayne school. FYI many of the smaller division teams you mentioned would win the SAC. (In fact Dwenger did that this year). South Adams, Dwenger, Belmont, Yorktown, Jimtown,Fairfield and Prarie Hieghts would walk all over evey team in the city of Fort Wayne besides maybe Carrol. The other schools that are ranked would be a top 2 to top 5 school in Fort Wayne. If your from the Fort Wayne area and think that the semi states small school wrestling is a joke then you would have to agree that Fort Wayne is dragging the semi state down. Be real with yourself besides Carrol this year, Fort Wayne hasn't had even a descent team since the 90's Snider teams. Its been ten years thats more then a cycle. Thats the current state of wrestling in Fort Wayne, learn to live with it because it isn't getting a whole lot better.
  20. I agree with you there the second biggest city is in desperate need of some middle school programs. That being said even when they had them they didn't produce a ton of top level talent. To jsmith I know some of the 1 A schools wrestle tough schedule. Prarie Heights had a great showing at Al Smith this year and South Adams put it on Alexandria. No offense to the rest of the states small programs, but year in and year out Northeast Indiana has the best small school wrestling. Then if we look at 2A most of these top teams wrestle great schedules. Belmont and Yorktown may not have been better then Mater Dei, but its hard to argue that they are way over ranked. Jimtown had a strong showing at the Al Smith and Fairfield wrestled several of the state best teams well at the Belmont Duals. Not trying to put down any other area in the state, but I think Fort Wayne semi state deserves some propping up because of how well their small programs do.
  21. Haha not really but if the city of Fort Wayne would ever hold their weight Fort Wayne would be the best semi state by far. Using the genius rankings the Fort Wayne semi state has 6 of the top ten schools in 1A. They are #1 South Adams, #2 Prarie Heights, #3 Adam Central, #8 Woodland, #9 Churubusco, and #10 Union City. In 2A there are also 6 in the top ten. THey are #1Yorktown, #2 Belmont, #4 Jimtown, #7 Fairfield, #8 Bishop Dwenger, and #9 Leo. In 3A the semi state only has one team in the top ten and that is #10 Carroll. Basically the city of Fort Wayne needs to pick up the slack its a joke. Every area arround you is a wrestling hotbed and you continually make the semi state the worst. Decatur brings more talent to the table then the second biggest city in Indiana and its a Joke. If they had an all star team by city instead of school Fort Wayne wouldn't make the top ten. Ok my rant is over, but seriously its a joke.
  22. We have talked about the bigger schools anyone have any thoughts on the topped ranked teams in the other two classes to start next season. In the AA rankings i like Yorktown to keep the number one spot and Jimtown to be on the rise(mainly because of Belmont and Mater Dei graduating mainy seniors.) In the A rankings I think Alexandria will give South Adams all they can handle for the top spot. I don't know to much about the smaller teams just thought we could spark some discussion. Anyone have a top five for each class would be awsome.
  23. Coach Snyder, I just want to say you do a tremendous job as a coach and educator. I also want to say from what I have seen on here and heard from other people, most everyone wants there to be a team state. The only thing people are complaining about is the best way to get it done. That can be a good thing. On the board I have seen 5 or 6 different options to get things done and all of them are classed in some way, shape, or form. There are several different logical options and they all end up with a team state title. I hope the IHSAA lets the coaches association do an all in format, but if they don't it would not be devastating for an invite only. Main thing is get something on paper and stick with it. Make whatever the coaches assiociation comes up with the best it can be. If you like my idea from an earliar post i can do some more leg work on the 8 way qualifier locations just send me a message.
  24. I have seen that on the site I just liked the way the other site was setup. Here is theirs. http://www.michigangrappler.com/rankings.html The actual rankings are under the fall recruiting rankings when you scroll down. I just enjoyed the way it was setup. Its a pound for pound best wrestler then the college choice. Its not a huge change, but its a pretty cool thing imo.
  25. I was looking arround other states websites and I noticed that the Michigan grapler has a list of the top 50 wrestlers in each graduating class along with the college they plan to wrestle for. I know we have updates of our wrestlers college choices, but it would be neat to see a list of the top wrestlers as well as where they are planning to attend. I think one area that Indiana is lagging on is getting our wrestlers interested in college wrestling. This may be one way to help develope that. Just a thought, but I thought it was a very neat idea and it got me to visit their site on more then one occasion. It also may make the recruiting process a little easier for smaller colleges arround the country.
