  1. Ihsaa website updates them frequently.
  2. Kendle wrestled tough today. He got in a little trouble in the finals against New Albany but was able to roll through. Looked like he lost a little edge in the 3rd period but still won. He's fun to watch because of his go hard style.
  3. Looks like a lot of these wrestlers have been to a Kurt Kinser wrestling camp. More headlocks than double legs. A lot of tired wrestlers in the third period. Better fill the gas tanks up on the way to Evansville next week. Jeff was once again dominant. I think the Jeff sectional was a little better than the Southridge sectional. Definitely more champs. Washington is getting better. Their coach kept slipping out to the weight room between matches. Floyd, NA, and Jasper looked pretty solid at times. 103 - Kennedy is wrestling tough at the right time. 112 - Shephard pulled it out but Whitely was right there. 119 - I thought Kendle would pin here but Jamison hung tough. I like how Kendle goes hard each time out. 125 - Castro gets tougher as the day goes on. Could have been hit for another stall but hangs on. 130 - Lundsford couldn't turn Chambers at the end. 135 - Jones won here. Emily and Vazquez had a good one on the other mat. 140 - Harbin hung on ... barely. 145 - Weekly hasn't had to work in 3 weeks. 152 ? Ingram wins. Best match was in the semis with Reynolds and Browner. 160 ? Marlin over Hall. 171 - Tucker was tough. Someone tell the coach in the other corner there's a third period. 189 - Faith got a headlock in on the line. Promptly got pinned by Curtley. 215 ? Pratt pins. 285 ? Dewitt pins. Not sure there are many state qualifiers here. Kennedy, Shephard, Kendle, Weekly, and maybe someone else makes it to state. Draw determines a lot.
  4. There will be a lot of good matches here. Neither sectional is strong, but both have some good individuals. I think the number of qualifiers for semi-state is about even between the two. Jeff sectional has the most champs though. 103 ? Kennedy finally got his championship last weekend. Look for another one. Kennedy FC, Schitter J, Graber W, Auberry NK 112 ? Shepherd is the man here. Whitely surprised Lahue last week and hung tough with Shepherd. Shepherd Jeff, Whitely FC, Lahue Co, Kerstiens J 119 ? I?ve liked Kendle since watching him throw down at semi-state last year. Kendle PC, Jamison NA, Eckert J, Meza W 125 ? Thomas got back at it last week. Byrer will be tough in the semis though. Thomas FC, Meenach NW, Byrer NK, Castro Jeff 130 ? SR sectional owns this class. Lundsford PC, Chambers J, Dischinger SR, Neel CIA 135 ? Slight edge to Jones. Jones SR, Emily FC, Thomas FP, Meza W 140 ? Harbin on strength. Harbin Jeff, Mundy SR, Massingham NW, Velazquez W 145 ? Weekly still ahead by a mile. Weekly Jeff, Heron FC, Lemond SR, Jiles NA 152 ? Not sure on this one. Ingram SR, Browner Jeff, Reynolds NA, Suddeth Ch 160 ? Wouldn?t be surprised if Schwenk won here. Marlin Jeff, Schwenk J, OConnell NA, Hall Ch 171 ? Some tough boys in this one. Tucker J, Bowen Ch, Sneed FC, Shepard P 189 ? Curtley still too much. Curtley Jeff, Faith NA, Schwinghamer SR, Cissell W 215 ? Pratt again. Pratt Jeff, Andry P, McCutchen Ch, Hedrick W 285 ? Dewitt is looking solid. Dewitt Jeff, Phillips M, Honaker W, Schnell J
  5. Hard to pick a lot of matches since the level of competition wrestled throughout the year is so different and records are unreliable, but here's a shot: 103: Kennedy FC, Doty CAI, Grey EP, Coureur Jeff Kennedy easy. 112: Shepherd Jeff, Whitley FC, Lahue Co, Peavler NA Whitley and Lahue should be a good one. 119: Jamison NA, Cassady FC, Deleon Jeff, Roberts CAI Looks like Jamision is the favorite. 125: Thomas FC, Castro Jeff, Meenach NW, Wolf Ch I'll take a returning semi-stater in this one. Thanks NA. 130: Kruer FC, Gregory Pr, Neel CAI, Schremp Jeff One of the more shallow weights. Kruer or Neel. 135: Emily FC, Vazquez Jeff, Banet CAI, Griffith Pr Another light class. 140: Harbin Jeff, Massingham NW, Schoenbaechler FC, Weddington Ch This one could be a good one. Does Harbin have the gas tank? 145: Weekly Jeff, Herron FC, Miles Ch, Kaelin Pr Weekly big. 152: Browner Jeff, Suddeth Ch, Speth CAI, Reynolds NA One of the tougher weight classes. 160: Hall Ch, Marlin Jeff, O?Connell NA, Jackson FC Hall should win big. 171: Sneed FC, Bowen Ch, Spangler Jeff, Schindler NA I like Bowen but Sneed has wrestled well recently. 189: Curtley Jeff, Faith NA, McCutcheon Ch, Youtsey FC I have Faith getting out of the first this time but Curtley is the man. 215: Pratt Jeff, McCutcheon Ch, Ottersbach FC, Conn NA Great final. I'll take Pratt this time. 285: Dewitt Jeff, Sharp FC, Duncan EP, Mudd NA No one has proven they can touch Dewit yet from this group. 1. Jeff ? 14 qualify (someone will most likely not, but who?), 10 in championship, 7 champs 2. FC ? 13 qualify, 9 in championship, 5 champs 3. Charlestown ? same number of champs as wrestlers that don't make weight 4. NA ? 1 champ 5. CAI - I like a couple of their guys, Neel and Speth, but don't think they'll pull out the championship. 6. NW - Meenach and Massingham are good but I got burned the last time I picked a NW guy 7. Providence 8. Eastern Pekin - glad to see them have a lot of kids 9. Corydon - Lahue is their best shot at the finals 10. Salem FF Champion with Corydon close behind
  6. That will be a hard one for him to win.
  7. Lots of talk about who's going to surprise. Can't wait to see the brackets!
  8. Just curious, what would you predict? I was looking at the SS page and the competition in each class. Another thing that sticks in the back of my head is that HHC has not had a lot of success in semi-state the past couple of years in terms of getting kids through the round to go. I think that will start to change with the addition of tough tournaments throughout the season. I see the HHC, especially Jeff, loading up their schedule with top rate competition. The rest of the teams are doing the same. That is sure to pay off at some point. Of course, some kids might not wrestle the same weight in sectionals as they did this past weekend. That could change some things up as well.
  9. Very touching moment when Adams used your shirt as a towel. Same effect as an oxygen mask after a 102 yard kick return in Denver.
  10. Good job by Madison running the tournament. Very smooth day. Jennings County and Jeff fans were out in force for a good atmosphere but Columbus East pulled it out as most predicted. If you ever go jogging at night be sure to take their coaching staff with you. If you ever need someone to get your back in a? nevermind? JC was up in some big matches but got a little over-zealous. If a couple of those had gone the other way, it may have been a different story. That is an impressive young team though. Jeff was impressive with over half of the team in the finals. They are poised to win another sectional title at this pace. cewrestlingfan was right. FC predictions were too optimistic. First time in years without an HHC champ. Will they turn it around or did they clean house too much? 103 - huge upset with FC getting pinned in the first period by CE. FC still state bound. 112 - shepard is tough. Statebound. 119 - Madison pulled out a nice win. 125 - This little Reiker dominated 130 - This little Reiker was tough 135 - This little Reiker got lucky! (honestly a great match and the reason kids need to keep their heads in a match) JC was a little too aggressive and ran out of gas. Credit to CE, as they looked to be in the best overall shape from top to bottom. 140 ? I was surprised to see Harbin pull it out 145 ? No one is in Weekly?s league. statebound. 152 ? The ?you have to be kidding me match? Adams found a burst of energy after the injury timeout and put on a takedown clinic. 160 ? Without Baldwin CE stepped up 171 ? Most anticipated match of the day resulted in domination by Wathen. The semis were better. JC to state. 189 ? Quick pin by Jeff as he?s found his weight class. 215 ? Bass is built for this class and should go to state. Hwt ? Collet is smooth for a heavy! He goes to state. Really good wrestling. You?d like to see less pins in the finals, but top to bottom the best hhc in a while. The Reiker boys provided the best entertainment in the finals. I?m not sure there are a lot of state qualifiers in this group though. Conditioning seemed to be an issue in a lot of the matches. I?d say CE has 1 (their best kids are in tough weight classes), JC has 3, Jeff has 2, FC has 1. That all depends on matchups at semi-state but those are the ones that look like they have it. Again, congrats to Columbus East. That program has come a long way.
  11. It's not been this good since the days of jboy, drama queen, and cred going at it when Jeff and FC were battling it out for first! BNL will get better if the school system lets Bruce get a feeder program going. They have been years behind on that way before him at no fault to the coaches. I don't think CEWrestlingfan meant it as a personal comment towards coach or the kids. Donnie's working hard to get ready for his performance with the Pork Pistols and Tim Wilson at Belterra Jan 22nd. Donnie got a little upset when people told him he's not as funny as Wilson and that Wilson comes out with new material more often so he's trying to up his game. Then someone on here (cpikemilo) said the boat he's been trying to sell is a lemon so I doubt we see him. We want Donnie "I swear to god it is" Baker back!!
  12. You're most likley right on, but every year some team seems to step up and mess things up a bit. I'm just hoping FC can be the one this year if they get hot. Sure, the team is very young and may finish way behind Jeff and Jennings in 4th, but they could get close up there. Although I think Jeff has proven themselves under Coach Struck, I am not sure how they will respond to not being the front runner this year after a couple of years on top. If things go as seeded, Jeff and JC will be battling for second, but I think there will be a few upsets here and there.
  13. In a very tough contest, I'm picking CE in a close one over JC. I think its only between them. Floyd gets third as they will place more in the top 4 than Jeff. 1. CE - Looks to be the strongest top to bottom. This is their window to do it with all of the seniors. 2. JC - Loss of Baldwin hurts. Great wrestler! Solid team and hard workers. 3. FC - The future belongs to them and JC. 4. Jeff - Two stand outs and uncertain to how the rest of the team will wrestle due to matchups. Could be in the mix with a good day. 5. Madison - I think they will have more placers. 6. Seymour - A lot in the middle. 7. New Albany - Not looked good lately. 8. BNL - Hard time placing any in the top 4. Young conference and exciting future. Let's hope that these kids stick with it and these young kids finally become mature teams in a couple of years!
  14. 103 Kennedy (FC) pins his way through. finals over noblitt (CE) 3. Luhn (JC) 112 Shepard (Jeff) over Whitley (FC) 3. Engelking (JC) 119 Holwager (JC) over Carlile (CE) 3. Taylor (Mad) 125 Rieker (CE) over Resch (JC) in a close one 3. Castro (Jeff) 130 Rieker (CE) over Montgomery (JC) 3. Kruer (FC) 135 Rieker (CE) over Gast (JC) 3. Emily (FC) 140 Shuler (CE) over Harbin (Jeff) 3. Schoenbaechler (FC) 145 Weekly (Jeff) over Herron (FC) 3. Stillinger (CE) 152 Adams (Mad) over Reynolds (NA) 3. Ogle (CE) 160Marlin (Jeff) over Johnson (CE) 3.Randall (FC) 171 Wathen (JC) over Brierly (CE) 3. Sneed (FC) 189 Faith (NA) over Curtley (Jeff) 3. Morrison (JC) 215 Bass (JC) over Pratt (Jeff) 3. Young (Mad) 285 Collett (JC) over Sharp (FC) 3. Emmit (CE)
  15. Any results for teams/individuals?
  16. I would agree with that. Those are three quality wrestlers. Is Adams going 140 or 145?
  17. Happel has not stepped on the mat all year. Whitley would be the name there for FC.
  18. In about 2 weeks the HHC individual tourney begins. It looks like a lot of teams have changed since the duals, so lets hear some predictions. Team wise, here is what I see: 1/2: Jennings County/Columbus East. This one comes down to which one can field a full team. CE will probably have the most champs but JC will have a lot of placers. I think JC has a slight edge in an individual tournament but it will be very close. Both teams have been impressive this year. 3/4: Jeffersonville/Floyd Central. Jeff is solid with a couple of champs. Not as strong as years past but will do well. FC is the most improved team in the field as they have seen their young wrestlers come around. They will contend for 1st next year but not quite there yet. Slight edge to Jeff for 3rd but I could see FC catching them because we know they peak in January. 5/6/7 Seymour/Madison/New Albany. Young and inexperienced. Huge distance between 4 and 5. 8 BNL. Individuals?
  19. If a kid deserves to wrestle under the lights then the kid will wrestle well enough to get there regardless of a seed. This link has some of the dumbest wrestling logic I have ever read. If you think that a wrestler will not get to the finals because of a seed or matchups, that is an admission that you know the kid is not good enough to beat some of the people along the way. Even the best seeded tournaments rarely come out as predicted. This happens all of the time at state. Someone wins semi-state and gets to wrestle a stud in the first round of state because someone upset in another semi-state. Sure some big matches might happen earlier than if the seeds would have been perfect, but the best wrestler will win and move on. That's all that matters.
  20. I think Kennedy from Floyd is on a whole other level than the rest of the 103 class.
  21. Teams could travel 4 hours but NA couldn't go 10 minutes?
  22. you must be clicking left-handed. my link worked fine. some interesting picks but you gotta love someone willing to make them.
