Our Southern RTC is MOSTLY Monday nights, but we also have some other "special nights" we want to share.

 

MARCH

Monday - Feb 27- 5pm - 6:30 - 51 kids present from agest 6th grade -12th grade - Jeff/Providence/New Albany/ New Washington/Floyd Central - all working to make eachother better - most kids were there for battle of the Bridge practice

 

Wednesday - Feb 29 - 5pm - 6:30 - RTC/Battle of the Bridge Practice - 80+ kids at practice tonight from Jeff/Prov/NA/New Wash and FC - went situational live, full go live, and a conditioning circuit for an hour and a half - GREAT JOB MAKING EACHOTHER BETTER!

 

Monday - March 5 - 5pm - 6:30 - RTC/Battle of the Bridge Practice

wrestlers from Oldham Co. KY, New Albany, New Washington, Jeffersonville, Providence and Floyd Central all took part in a leg riding clinic put on by "Papa" Shepherd (2x State Qualifier), Alonzo Shepherd (3x State Qualifier), and Marc Fridley (former Mt. St. Joe wrestler), great work ethic and participation tonight boys!

 

Monday - March 12 - 4:30-6:30 - Wabash College's Danny Irwin will be here - - 70 kids from 8 schools - New Albany, Providence, Floyd Central, New Washington, Holy Cross KY, Jeffersonville, Jasper, and Paoli

 

Wednesday - March 14 - 4:30-6:30 - - RTC/Battle of the Bridge Practice - Great practice tonight (Wednesday night).....55 kids from 5 area schools went live wrestling for an hour and a half, and got in a good 20 minute weight routine, very nice practice guys!!  Next (and last) battle of the bridge practice is next Tuesday night

 

TUESDAY - March 20 - 4:30-6:30- - RTC/Battle of the Bridge Practice -56 at practice tonight from 5 area schools, drilled the first 35, then live the next hour - battle of the bridge tourney tomorrow for the Southern Indiana RTC guys.........

 

 

Week of Spring Break - 4:30-6:30 - 40+ at practice from Jennings county, Floyd, new Albany, Jeff did a night working on all three styles, great night!!!!

 

 

APRIL

Monday 2- 4:30 - 6:30 - great practice. 40 guys from Jeff, new wash and new Albany going over Greco drills from the feet and gut wrenches on top, got a great twenty minute lift in that concentrated on building a powerful reverse lift.

 

Wednesday 11 - Charlie Pingleton - NCAA All-American 4:30 - 6:30 - 70 wrestlers from New Zealand, NW, FC, NA, Male, Doss, Trinity, Jennings County, and Jasper got to listen to Pingleton and Ian STephens (XFC contract figheter, Georgia State Champ, NAIA All-American and NCWA National Champion)

Monday 16 4:30 - 6:30

Wednesday 18 - GRECO NIGHT LIVE - 48 wrestlers, 7 matches a piece!

 

Thursday 19 - 2x NCAA Champ, and 4x NCAA AA - Braumon Creighton 4:30 - 6:30- 28 wrestlers from New Wash, New Albany, and Jeffersonville got tons of footwork and low single training by this 2x NCAA National Champion!

 

Monday 23 4:30 - 6:30 - Andrew Nicola - Assistant Coach Cumberland University  - TN

38 kids turned up tonight for Andrew Nicola clinic and got to hit lots of double over hook throws, trapped arm guts and defense on bottom.  Great practice!!! Kids from New Wash, Jeff, and New Albany all going hard.  Coach Nicola will have Cumberland University TN going strong soon!

 

Monday 30 4:30 - 6:30 - Great practice last night 45 guys from NW, NA, Jeff, and Ctown going hard the week of freestyle state - Alonzo Shepherd and Jordan Schremp led the charge and took kids through different situations they felt would be encountered this weekend.  Had a "mental toughness" session in the weight room, and went a lot of live.  Great practice!!  Gotta keep up the #'s and participation through Greco state and we will call it a successful RTC season!

 

 

MAY

Monday 7  4:30 - 6:30 40 guys tonight from Jeff/new Albany/new wash going over Greco situations and wrestling live and doing a great conditioning session

 

Wed 9th - 50 kids showed up from New Albany, New Wash, Jennings County and Jeff to watch Alex put on an AWESOME Greco Roman clinic.  He wrestled every kid that challenged him too!!!  We go after it again Thursday night!!!

 

Thurs 10 - Alex Dolly - Michigan State Asst, and Olympic Hopeful

Great last practice for team Jeff season tonight! 3 big ten wrestlers in the room (IU signee Alonzo shepherd, mich state's Alex dolly, Illinois signee -4x ky state champ John Fahay) plus Waldorf college hwt ryan dewitt and Indiana tech signee elijah curtley.  30 wrestlers there for day 2 of our Alex dolly clinic. Alex came and did footwork drills and strength training as a guest speaker for our 7th period weights class, then ran a clinic after school from 2:45 to 5 working on all Greco. He ended it with a great speech to the kids on grades, respect and perseverance. He went live with ever kid that wanted too and worked that room hard for two nights! Straight off the plane from Finland, china and Bulgaria he made the 7 hour drive from Lansing to Jeffersonville to spend time with these kids and give back. Indiana has a great representative there in Alex dolly!

On nights with a clinician we ask for a donation at the door, our kids paid for the clinician with their club dues, so we ask you pitch in too.

WEDNESDAY - MAY 9 4:30 to 6:30 or later

THURSDAY - May 10 - 4- 5:30

 

OLYMPIC HOPEFUL AND MICHIGAN STATE ASSISTANT COACH ALEX DOLLY will be getting us ready on a two day clinic for Greco State, and Central Regionals. 

 

= Coach Dolly will just be getting off of a plane from Finland's Olympic Trials Qualifier, and heading down from Michigan State, we will be asking for a donation at the door for his travel expenses.

 

Alex Dolly, who joined the Michigan State wrestling staff as a volunteer assistant in June 2009, is in his third season with the Spartan program. Dolly came to MSU from Northern Iowa, where he was a standout wrestler.

 

While at Northern Iowa, Dolly wrestled at 184 pounds and earned four trips to the NCAA Championships. He reached the round of 12 on three occasions at the NCAA Championships and finished his career with an overall record of 74-57.

 

Dolly hails from Mishawaka, Ind., where he holds the state's all-time career takedown record with 548 and was a two-time USA Wrestling National All-American.

 

In September 2011, Dolly represented Ireland at the FILA World Championships in Istabul, Turkey. Dolly wrestled in the 84-kilogram freestyle division and reached the quarterfinal round. He defeated Alvarez Martinez of Honduras in his opening match of the competition, 9-1, and followed that up with a 9-0 victory over Dejan Bogdanov of Macedonia. Dolly fell to Japan's Shinya Matsumoto in the quarterfinals, 6-4.

 

Dolly currently attends graduate school at MSU while working with the Spartan wrestling team.

JEFFERSONVILLE Indiana ? USAW Freestyle/Greco RTC SUMMARY FOR 2012

 

I hope all kids had a good time training together to HELP EACHOTHER get better!!!!  I truly believe the better we ALL get the better each of us get?..iron sharpens iron, etc?  Thanks for the opportunity to share your kids with other kids!

 

All practices from Spring break on concentrated on freestyle and Greco ? but primarily Greco (we only went 2 nights of solely freestyle). 

 

Clinicians ? other than our Jeffersonville Staff - Andrew Nicola (Cumberland U), Alex Dolly (Mich State), Braumon Creighton (4x NCAA AA), Charlie Pingleton (NAIA Champ), Ian Stephens (XFC), Danny Irwin (Wabash)

 

High - 80 wrestlers

Low - 28

Averaged about 49 wrestlers a night

 

13 Different high schools from 2 states represented at some point - Jeffersonville, New Albany, Paoli, Providence, Charlestown, Jasper, Jennings County, New Washington, Floyd Central, Male KY, Doss KY, Holy Cross KY, Oldham Co KY, Trinity KY

 

8 schools represented at one time was the high.

 

Jasper, Paoli and Jennings County gets the award for the farthest drives!

 

1 foreign country - New Zealand
