Howards_411
This is not a topic to bad mouth any officials. In my opinion they did an incredible job at the HCC conference; However, and interesting situation came up between two wrestlers. While watching HSE compete against Lafayette Harrison, I was surprised to see how a coach was able to intervene during a match without any penalties. HSE's wrestler was running a power half (and was not potentially dangerous in my opinion) to what was inevitably going to be resolved in near fall points. The Harrison coach walks out in the middle of the match, puts his hand on his wrestler to check on his wrestler's shoulder, which stops the match, despite the fact that the ref did not call "potentially dangerous." I am not clear on the exact ruling that took place, but what I do know, is HSE was awarded zero points to what would have been near fall points and Harrison was able to start again from referee's position. My question is, are coaches able to intervene when they feel their wrestlers are in a potentially dangerous situation, when the opposing team is about to earn points? If they do intervene, are there penalties?!
PreparetoWin
I have seen a coach intervene and he was kicked out of the tourney and the next event. If that event would have been Sectionals then they are out for the state tourney.

I'm sure you're speaking of the same one i watched last year and in that particular situation, the coach was 110% right in stopping the match. Would've potentially ended the wrestlers season had it not been stopped.
PreparetoWin
Nope, the one I speak of happened a few years ago. And also in this situation the coach was right in stopping the match. Ref wasn't able to see the arm about to be broke.
tipco3
I had an official tell me this year that if it involved the safety of one of the participants that I, as one of the coaches, should walk onto the mat. I asked about coaches misconduct and he told me that it wouldn't be if it involved the safety or well being of the participants.
