This is not a topic to bad mouth any officials. In my opinion they did an incredible job at the HCC conference; However, and interesting situation came up between two wrestlers. While watching HSE compete against Lafayette Harrison, I was surprised to see how a coach was able to intervene during a match without any penalties. HSE's wrestler was running a power half (and was not potentially dangerous in my opinion) to what was inevitably going to be resolved in near fall points. The Harrison coach walks out in the middle of the match, puts his hand on his wrestler to check on his wrestler's shoulder, which stops the match, despite the fact that the ref did not call "potentially dangerous." I am not clear on the exact ruling that took place, but what I do know, is HSE was awarded zero points to what would have been near fall points and Harrison was able to start again from referee's position.
My question is, are coaches able to intervene when they feel their wrestlers are in a potentially dangerous situation, when the opposing team is about to earn points? If they do intervene, are there penalties?!
