NAWC competes in pair of meets last weekend

The New Albany Wrestling Club was well-represented last weekend at the Mater Dei Folkstyle Open in Evansville and at the Indiana State Folkstyle Championships.

Placing first at Mater Dei was NAWC?s Austin Ward, who has now stretched his championship streak to four tournaments in a row. Teammate Tristen Dowell also was impressive at the Indiana Folkstyle State Championships by placing third in the 105-pound division. Dowell completed the tournament with a 5-1 record, putting together three consecutive wins after his sole loss in a close semifinal match to become the No. 3 wrestler in the state for his division.

The next event for NAWC is the second round of the Indiana Folkstyle State Championships in Indianapolis this weekend. Any club members wishing to participate should contact Randy Lynch at lynchra@aol.com prior to Thursday.

The NAWC meets at the New Albany High School wresting room Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:45-6:45 p.m. There is no cost unless wrestlers wish to participate in tournaments.
