However, we will be expanding our Elementary Duals tournament on Sunday, January 17th to include a second gym so that we may host more teams. LOCATION: Yorktown High School (1100 S. Tiger Dr., Yorktown, IN 47396) YHS is located along HWY 32 approximately 2 miles west of Muncie and 8 miles east of I-69. You must turn north off of HWY 32 onto Tiger Dr. when you get to Yorktown. YHS will then be about a mile down the road and on your right. OBJECTIVE:The elementary duels are designed to give the elementary age wrestler a high school experience. It is our goal to give the kids the team experience they do not see during the spring. (Individual wrestlers may wrestle too ? see below for details) WEIGHT 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 120, 130, 140 and 160. CLASSES: (Scratch weight ? no allowances) RULES: Wrestlers shall be in the SIXTH grade or younger. Wreslters MUST also be in USA Wrestling?s NOVICE age group or below. (BOTH OF THE ABOVE CRITERIA MUST BE MET TO COMPETE.) There are 18 weight classes. Teams may have a maximum of 20 wrestlers on their team. (If a club has more than 20 kids who would like to come, then bring 2 teams) Teams will turn in a line-up before each round begins. This line-up cannot be changed once the round begins. A new line-up may be turned in for each of the following rounds. Folkstyle rules with three one minute periods. All other high school rules/guidelines will apply. Wrestlers are required to wear head-gear and a mouth-piece for this event. This will be a USA Wrestling sanctioned event. Each wrestler must have a current USA Wrestling competitor?s card to participate. Each team will be required to supply one adult each round for score table help. AWARDS: Team and individual awards will go to top 3 teams. ENTRY FEE: $200 -- This can be broken down to $10 per wrestler for a 20 member team. The first 8 teams who mail in their entry fee will secure their position in this event. It is not necessary to send your line-up at this time. Realizing that it is difficult to fill a team at this age level, it would be acceptable for example for two neighboring clubs to come together to form a team for this event. If you have filled your team with club members and still need to fill a couple of holes in your line-up, it is permissible to have a few non-club members wrestler on your roster. We would discourage coaches from putting together complete ?all star? teams for this event. This event will have some outstanding wrestlers on each team, but there will also be average and beginner wrestlers as well. A complete ?all star? team does not comply with the nature of this event. If you are an individual and would like to be ?placed? on a team that has an open weight class, feel free to fill in the application and mail it in along with $10. Coach McCormick will contact you with details prior to the event. Don?t shy away from this event just because you can?t fill all of the weight classes. Most of the time, every team will have some forfeits in their line-up. The spirit of this event is to get the kids matches in a team setting. Ankle bands will be used, so a wrestler will be able to compete even if they don?t have a singlet. Teams will be able to get exhibition matches for their ?extra? wrestlers at the end of each round. This format will be explained at the coaches? meeting on the morning of the event. FORMAT We will use a POOL format. The number of matches that a team wrestles will be determined by how many teams enter this event. We have been able to get most teams 5 dual meets over the duration of this event.
