Pretty sad when you bend the rules for some kids because they are"a great wrestler" . 140 # weight class .first kid to weigh in was over .1 on all scales, he weighed 142.1 weigh in official verified that he was over on all scales. Said to scatch him. But then he was allowed to leave the weigh in room and go pee. 10 min later allowed to weigh in again and make weight. GREAT EXAMPLE TO SET FOR ALL THE KIDS THAT DID MAKE WEIGHT. Im sorry the kid did not make weight, he's a great kid and wrestler, but he missed weight.

If that is true, then it's extremely unfortunate for others. We had one wrestler, who is inexperience with it being his second year, not quite sure on the rulings etc. He showed up and weighed in. He never checked in with me to set him on our scale, and he ended up missing weight by .1 of a pound and challenged all scales with .1 being the lowest. They scratched him from the tournament and was unable to compete.

He most likely wasn't going to do a whole lot in the tournament, but it would have been some good mat time and a learning experience(on the mat, not weight management). If they allowed one wrestler .1 allowance over the 2 already given then that's pretty sad even if he was a good wrestler.

Maybe a proposal would be if a wrestler misses weight, they can pay an extra $35 to bump up and IHSWCA can still profit even more from it. Trackwrestling allows a wrestler to me moved over to a new class pretty easy and will rebuild a bracket for you once you change the wrestlers weight.

There are always reports that someone did not make wieght and was passed on by an Offiical.  I doubt that they are true.  As per anyone not making weight by 1 or 2 tenths of a pound...I would say that shows poor plannig on the part on the parent or the coach.  The purpose of the 2 lb allowance is not so wrestlers can now cut weight and barely make the weight plus 2lbs.  It is to allow for the weight of a singlet and shoes which do not come close to weighing two pounds.  If we take 102 as an example there is no wrestler that would weigh 102 that could not put on his shoes and singlet and step on the scale and not be under 104.  We do not want Middle Schoolers to cut weight so we give them this leeway, but it is like almost anything else you give someone an inch and they try to take a mile.  If someone wants to play the edge with the weight issue andthey get burned it is their own fault.
