  1. Great start to the camp this evening. The Lefever brothers being the first to start the camp at technicians was great. The Wabash camp has been great and the kids were pretty pumped there today. Thank You, Coach Anderson, Coach Irwin and Little Giant Wrestling Team for being a class act and bringing great people to Crawfordsville for wrestling!
  2. So then Jamie Welliever wouldn't be that close either. It would take well over 30 years of coaching to get to 600, if my calculations are correct. With a 25 a season dual record win every year! He hasn't been a head coach long enough to make 600. Thanks for clarifying J.D.'s record for me.
  3. Only losing by a point to Bernard is impressive. I thought Bernard was great as a Sophomore, and a Junior. I haven't seen him wrestle this year so far. I am sure it will be a great tournament as usual. I really like Bernard's work ethic as a heavyweight. But, I will keep a sharp eye out for the Miller kid. Thanks for the heads up.
  4. There are a couple of tough kids from Seeger that will be there, forgive me for their names have slipped my mind. The Acton kid at 120, he looked pretty solid at the Athenian Invitational. The South Vermillion Heavyweight seems to be pretty solid too. I wouldn't count out some non Montgomery County wrestlers.
  5. Mark, forget this dude. He knows nothing of Austin. He is just a forum troll. I hate it when people run their mouths with their keyboard warrior attitudes. Austin is a great kid, how about the time he spends with the younger kids at the MS and Youth level to help them become better. I know when you and I were in school and we were in the finals, it is very hard to talk to someone who has one thing on their mind and that is to win. So what he wears headphones. As long as he is not naked and cussing at his opponent. I don't care what a kid does to get his mind into his match. I have watched Austin wrestle since he was an elementary school kid and not once has he ever been disrespectful to a coach or opponent. He once wrestled a kid and was telling him things he needed to work on. He has a heart of gold if you know him or have ever just walked up to talk to him. He never shrugs anyone off, especially little kids.
  6. I thought Tolley was a Heavyweight, my mistake there. I haven't seen Miller wrestle, but if you say so. I just thought Robinson was a beast!
  7. That is right I am biased, we all are biased towards our wrestlers. He did win 4-2 against a guy at Conference. I cannot comment on his Conference opponent as I was preparing to bury my father that weekend and I was doing the Eulogy. I just say predict, no need to say things like if he wins Regionals, or anything like that. Make your prediction, move on. Yes, I am an Asst. at Crawfordsville that just deals mainly with the upper weights. I am not trusted or qualified to coach light weight guys. I will not get in a debate of who he has beat or who he hasn't. It comes down to the day at Conseco, and I firmly believe he will be there. He is not from a big school, so he hasn't had the chance to wrestle top ten guys every week. But, he proved he belongs up there. That is all I have to say. Good luck to you if you are a coach and your wrestlers. I also have Nick Borta winning 160, and no I do not coach him either. The kid will make noise when he has to too! Bernard will win Hvyweight with his pure athleticism. Robinson, I believe is probably closest to being untouchable at 220. McCloskey wins 170, yes I am friends with his dad since boyhood, guess that is biased too. 182, I think I have no prediction, looks as if too many people have lost to each other. I like the Petrole kid, I like how he wrestles.
  8. Thanks SLDchamp, you just made it easy to motivate him. He wrestles best when he thinks he is not respected or the underdog. He manhandled Scott on his home turf 13-6. then had Kral beat thinking he heard the whistle(another whistle was blown on another mat) let go of the leg in the final seconds to lose on a takedown. His fault and he admits it. That is why you have to break him away even if the ref blows the whistle. You just underestimated a kid that is on a mission with set goals in mind. He will prove a lot of people where he belongs. Olddog14 we will watch and see where he stands at the end. I predict that he is in the finals. Not to mention he beat some other quality opponents like Morales from WEBO. You make it sound like he is a bottom feeder, show some respect. IF he qualifies, what?
  9. When a kid comes in with an"inflated" record and loses." He's raw, needs more technique." If you knew that as a coach, you should have been working on that since day one, not waiting until he loses. Crowd Cliche', kids on his back getting pinned. "Get-up, Stand-up, don't let him pin you." Coach, " You have to score points here, that's how you win"
  10. Thank you, yes, Nick Petrov. Sorry, and I meant no disrespect in forgetting his name. Great guy, and yes very classy!
