Harrison (WL) vs. Lafayette Jefferson

    Date: 12/13/2017
    Harrison (WL) 60
    Lafayette Jefferson 6
    Details:

Senior night with 7 Harrison Seniors in lineup-  Since the Journal and Courier didn't give a write up of the big rivalry match in Tippecanoe County due to busy covering basketball,  the scholar decided to at least give the match a little press.

138 Poindexter catches Martinez in pin during close match

145 Merkel dominates early over Goonen? with Pin in 2nd

152 Veteran Ruiz fighting injuries this year with Pin over Pacheco in spirited match in his last home match

160  Sr Conklin with 1st takedown  in OT over Jeff Sr Adkins for 10-8 win with late illegal move (body figure four), and good call with no complaints from Coach Miller, to tie the score.  High action back and forth match.

170 Sr Myles Krintz finally getting over injuries with good weekend at Merrillvile  gets a workman 9 to 1 Major decision.   (Garret Fair out sick last night)

182 Younker grinds out a close but gutty match over Jeff's Seth Jones.

195 Jacob Barron with Laf Jeff 1st win with early lead over Oakley but not enough gas to get major 9-3 decision.

220- Close match with Ortiz getting early 6-1 win lead over Will (little) Crider but wears Ortiz down and gets late 3rd period pin.

285  Sr Donnie Crider with 11-4 decision over Williams.  Crider had a few opportunities to two opportunities to add to his team and state  pin records but couldn't make them stick on Sr night as Williams fights through the pin combos.

106- Sammie Hein again disappointed not to show off skills in front of home crowd and gets forfeit (Jeff wrestler injured)

113 -  Barr vs Bayley in matchup of two talented freshmen.  Barr gets early lead and holds off Bayley's tenacious flurry at end of match to get 6-3 win.   This looks like a new Tippy County rivalry.

120- Four year starter  Sr Josh Wade  in last home match (with most of family watching) unfortunately with forfeit win. Josh ready to wrestle with new hair cut and motivated by Jeff's upset win over Harrison during his brothers Sr night 2 years ago.

126- Sr Trey McCartney (leader of Fab 14) showing off technical moves early before getting pin over Ensign.

132- Jr Cody Betourne all smiles and finds somebody to hug even though with no match after forfeit win.

    Final score 60 to 6.

1st year Coach Johnny Henry's Harrison Raiders moves to 21-1 on season,  but moved out of Indianamat Top 20 after the close 35-30 loss to #16 Merrillville.   Harrison tuning up with McCutcheon duals this weekend and getting ready for their 1st appearance at the Class 3A at IHSWCA Team State in Fort Wayne on December 23rd.
