  2. ROACHDALE, INDIANA - The South Vermillion Wrestling Team traveled to the home of the Cougars of North Putnam for their last dual meet of the season. The Wildcats won their match with North Putnam by the score of 59 to 15.   3. CLINTON, INDIANA - The South Vermillion Wrestling Team hosted the Rox of Rockville and the Warriors of Turkey Run for their last home dual meets of the season. The Wildcats won both of these matches by scores of 69-9 and 48-28 respectfully. The Wildcats honored their six seniors and their parents prior to start of the first match. Those seniors were Shannon Marshall, Troy Price, Tyler Smith, Andrew Baca, Jeremy Randolph and Caleb Woodard. The first match of the evening was against the Rox of Rockville. The Wildcats opened the evening with Senior Andrew Baca wrestling Brendon Lucas at the 220-weight class. After three periods, the Rox?s won a 2-1 match. Senior Caleb Woodard received a forfeit for the Wildcats at the 285-weight class. At the 1-06-weight class, Tanner Bishop earned a technical fall for the Wildcats by a decision Jacob Gregg by a score of 16-0. The next Wildcat to win was Senior Shannon Marshall received a forfeit at the 120-weight class. Trevor Newman increased the Wildcat lead by pinning Chase Nichols in the first period at 46 seconds. At 132-weight class, Christian Norman won by a forfeit for the Wildcats. In an exciting match, Wildcat?s Tanner Waldrop earned a major decision over Rockville?s Jake Thorman by a score of 15-5. The next four Wildcats all earned forfeits. Those Wildcats were Troy Price at 145, Tyler Smith at 152, Daniel Shew at 160 and Tanner Smith at 170-weight class. At the 182-weight class, Aeron Goodman earned a fall in the first period over the Rockville?s Justin Earl in 1:23. The last match of this meet, Austin Eup received a forfeit from Rockville and the Wildcats won 69-9 over the Rox. During the intermission, the members of the South Vermillion Youth Wrestling Club was introduced to the huge crowd. The next match against the Warriors of Turkey Run, saw Senior Caleb Woodard throwing Tyler Linthcon for a takedown, Lithcom was able to over off of his back and reversed Woodard and earned a fall at 1:08 in the first period. Tanner Bishop at 106 and David Hutson at 113 both received a forfeit. The Wildcat took a 12-6 lead over the Warriors. At the 120-weight class, Shannon Marshall wrestled Dean Bunting from the Warriors. At the end of three periods, Bunting won a major decision by the score of 11-0. The next three Wildcats, Trevor Newman at 126, Christian Norman at 132 and Tanner Waldrop at 138 all won by forfeits. Troy Price at the 145-weight class took control of his match and in the second period at 3:35 over the Warrior?s Donivan Foue at the 145-weight class. In an exciting match at 152-weight class, Tyler Smith and Walker Uplinger fought a hard match until Uplinger caught Smith for a fall at 2:19 in the second period. In a barn burner, Wildcat?s Daniel Shew and Tyler Uplinger fought back the forth until the final whistle blew. When the smoke cleared, Uplinger defeated Shew by a score of 16-14. At the 170-weight class, Wildcat?s Tanner Smith won by a forfeit. In another close match, the Warrior?s Jeff Gridler defeated Aeron Goodman by a score of 8-6 in three periods. Freshman Austin Eup faced the Warrior?s Alex Ryan in the 195-weight class. Ryan caught Eup and earned a fall at 1:33 in the first period. The last match of the evening, Andrew Baca received a forfeit and the Wildcats won their 15th victory of the season by a score of 48-28. ?I was very pleased with the team's work this evening, Competition was good and the crowd was great. It was nice to be at home for these two dual meets. I believe all wrestlers worked their hardest and should be proud of their effort.? said Coach Ron Stateler. The Wildcats improved their season record to 15-12 and will back in action next Wednesday evening at North Putnam. Action will begin at 6:30 pm.

The Wildcats won their match with Rockville by a score of 64 to 18 and defeated North Putnam Cougars by the score of 62 to 15. The Wildcats finished their dual season with a 19-8 record.   14. South Vermillion Middle School in Clinton, Indiana will start their practices on Monday, January 25th.
  15. The brackets from the WIC Seed Meeting have been sent to the IndianaMat.com Administration so that they may be posted. The Western Indiana Conference Wrestling Tournament is set for this Saturday, January 23rd. This tournament shall be held at South Vermillion High School in Clinton, Indiana. Wrestling is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. Teams at this year?s tournament will be Brown County, Edgewood, Owen Valley, Northview, Sullivan, West Vigo, and the hosts, South Vermillion. The doors will open at 8:30 for general admission and tickets are $5.00. Wrestling will be done on three mats for all sessions except the finals, as the wrestlers will report to the first available mat. For the finals in each weight class, mats will be designated for the championship rounds and each weight class will be completed before the next weight class is started. A hospitality room will be open at 8:30 am for officials, coaches, administrators and media personnel in the SV Wrestling Room located under the north bleachers in the gymnasium. This room is hosted by the South Vermillion wrestling parents. The Tournament Director will be Lynn Branz and Cody Barnard will be the announcer for the event. The officials for the tournament shall be Chuck Barnett, Tom Lambert, Mike Golando and Marty Schloeeser.
  16. CLINTON, INDIANA - The South Vermillion Wrestling Team hosted the Warriors of Turkey Run and the Rox of Rockville for the first home dual match of this season. The Wildcats won both of these matches by the scores of 74 to 6 and 63 to 15 to improve their season record to 19 ? 8 before a huge home crowd. The meet began with Josh Farley earning a decision by score of 13-12 against Nathan Lutz of Turkey Run. Farley was trailing Lutz by a score 12-6 starting the third period, but Farley took control and scored seven points to win the match. The next two matches found John Gross and Alex Thomas receiving forfeits for the Wildcats. The Wildcats took a 15 to 0 lead over the Warriors. At the 145-pound class, Ross Hoggatt scored a technical fall over the Warriors' Jeff Girdler by a score of 15-0 at the start of the third period. At the 152 weight class, the Warriors' Matt Loudermilk pinned Robby Kelly in the second period at 3:35 to score the Warriors' only points of the match. John Natale at the 160-pound weight class received a forfeit for the Wildcats. The 171-pound class found Michael Novak received a forfeit for the Wildcats. Next up for the ?Cats was Lucas Kelsheimer at the 189-pound weight class and received a forfeit. Wildcat's Austin Russell earned a pin against Tucker Evans at the 215-pound class. Trent Wallace at the 285-pound weight class for the Wildcats pinned David Catterson in the first period at 1:10 seconds. The Wildcat's Troy Price at 103-pound class; Spencer Bishop at 112-pound class; Tyler Smith at 119-pound class and Dalton Millikan at 125-pound class all received forfeits. South Vermillion's John Gross wrestled Joe Leatherman and started the Wildcats off with a win by the score of 8-2. Alex Thomas scored a quick takedown on the Rox's Dalton Wood and earned a pin at 1:05 at the 140-pound class. The Wildcats were leading 9 to 0 over the Rox. Ross Hoggatt earned a pin over Jake Eslinger of Rockville in the first period at 1:00 in the 145-pound class. Robby Kelly at the 152-pound class lost by a pin by Rockville's Josh Hill in 42 seconds. At the 160-pound class, John Natale received a forfeit for the Wildcats. Michael Novak earned a pin over Jake Conglio of Rockville in 1:43 at the 171-pound class. Rockville earned their second victory over the Wildcats when Jarrod Paxton decisioned Lucas Kelsheimer by a score of 6-3 late in the third period. At 215 weight class, Robby Foster of Rockville pinned Austin Russell at 3:13 in the second period. In the heavyweight class, Trent Wallace received a forfeit for the Wildcats. At the 103-pound class, South Vermillion's Troy Price earned a pin in the first period at 1:31against Rockville's Tyler Rayborn. Spencer Bishop earned a pin for the Wildcats at the 112-pound class at 56 seconds against Chris Wilcox. In his first Varsity action, Garrett Jammes pinned Brandon Knoblett in the third period at 4:14 at the 119-pound class. At the 125-pound class, Dalton Millikan earned a fall over Alex Vanhook in the third period at 5:27. The last varsity match of the evening found South Vermillion's Josh Farley pinning Cameron Riggs in the second period at 3:46. The final score was the Wildcats 63 and the Rockville Rox 15.

CLINTON, INDIANA - The South Vermillion Wrestling Team hosted the annual South Vermillion 8-Way Invitational on Saturday, January 9th the fifth straight year, the South Vermillion Wildcats were crowned the Invitational Champions by scoring 236 points. The Wildcats outscored the runner-ups, North Vermillion Falcons, by sixteen points. The Falcons scored 220 points and the Vikings of West Vigo placed third with 216 points. The team results were South Vermillion with 236 points (Champion); runner-up North Vermillion with 220 points; in third place, West Vigo with 216 points; in fourth place, Sullivan with 131 points; in fifth place, Covington with 128 points; in sixth place, Cloverdale with 114 points; in seventh place, Rockville with 104 points; and in eighth place, Turkey Run with 60 points. North Vermillion?s senior, Caleb Miller at 285 weight class, was named ?Most Valuable Wrestler? for the tournament by the head coaches. Miller?s season record is now 21-2.
