A couple of things that I have learned from experience;
* The official has ultimate jurisdiction on all matters
* ALL notes regarding skins conditions HAVE to be on the IHSAA (not ISWA) approved form, and have to be dated within one week of the actual event in which they are wrestling. It's in the IHSAA by-laws.
* Just because the note says it was not contagious on January 28 does not mean it has not become contagious as of January 31 (today).
Had the home school provided an on site doctor, and said doctor approved the wrestler to participate, the official would rarely if ever disagree with that decision. That's why there will be a qualified doctor at most, if not all, Regionals, at all four SSs, and definitely at Banker's Life. Unfortunately, some school, wrestlers, and/or parents have provided false documentation in the past. I have no horse in the race, but I have been there done that on both sides

He was a machine!
-
Impressive program from top to bottom.

I think most would agree that a "stalemate" call was the correct one unless you believe there was a TD achieved. As for the original question, it does not matter in the context of the match and that is what I meant.
I saw a guy in the stands that had the rule book AND case book as an iPhone app. It was pretty sweet and he said it was $5! You can also buy them at www.ihsaa.org and www.nfhs.org for about $7 each

The crowd was definately in to it as well. I picked Gettinger to win it all, but these two didn't disappoint.
-
Not my best year at pickem's
-
I think it was pretty impressive that molloy rolled his ankle in the quarters and was still able to win it. Also I think the most impressive wrestler was Sliga, what a monster.
Also took out a very tough Matthew Mastison from Evansville Harrison on Friday night. A great weekend for Mr Davis!
-
I'm guessing they will both be back in the immediate future

The assistant referee has absolutely no authority to reverse a call or to overrule the official, he can only offer an opinion as to what he saw, and he can (or should) only offer it when he's asked. The head official can take his opinion, or leave his opinion, but it's 100% the head official's choice and he has the final sayso. In this case the head official is asking the assistant whether or not time had expired before the takedown was signaled
-
Wasnt he also the best player on their basketball team that was ranked 4th in stated before falling in regionals?
I believe that was his brother, Glen Robinson, Jr, a senior that is now headed to Michigan to play some hoops!

Unfortunate as it may be, or perceived to be, some of those venues are in places that the average fan may be leary of driving to, much less leaving their car parked there all day.
-
Did they allow Kral to get into the patented Bulldog Big Guy Offense, code name "HOC-PBS-VHF-WOSMCOS" ? :
As I understand the way it is taught, that stands for Head-in--Opponent-Chest, Push-Block-Stall, VLINK-Holds-Fist-in-Air, Works-Official-for-Six-Minutes-Claiming-Opponent-is-Stalling[/size]
Wow, that is not really a very mature post Mr Ayersman :-X :-\

1. Who is Mr Salazar?
2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you heard ABSOLUTELY none of the conversation that took place on the floor. The ref says one thing, the score keeper and timer say one thing, the CG coaches say one thing, and the BL coaches say one thing, but you're sure that the gospel is what was said by the BL coaches. Homer?
You are correct about one thing, though, and that's that it's a public forum and I don't have to listen to you whine any more, and I won't revisit the topic again. Knock your self out (literally, please!) ;D > :'(

Can't you quit beating a dead horse? Everyone knows that you disagreed with the calls, you disagreed with the kid and his coaching staff, and you think that the official should retire. What's done is done, right or wrong, unfortunate or not. You're attacking a guy who isn't saying you're wrong, he's saying what he heard and nothing more (or less).
-
I was expecting East Noble to make a run at it, too. They ahve been impressive.

Let them wrestle in overtime saw guy lose for not having his foot on the line in a over time match kind of a mean ref to end a guys season by that
Kind of a mean ref? If the rule says that his foot needs to be on the line, and by not having it on the line it's a penalty, then how does that make the ref mean? I don't know the particular rule you're referring to, but if you want the ref to ignore the rule just so he doesn't end the kids season, then what other rules do you want him to ignore? Besides, if the kid broke the rule and got penalized then he ended his own season, the ref didn't end it. Unfortunate, yes, but mean? You probably wouldn't have asked him to ignore a locked hands or illegal crossface in the OT, so why should he ignore any other rule infraction?

It was nice to see all the Mater Dei fans there, but as I had said in a post a couple weeks ago they
always seem to intimidate an officials call, which of course they did when the official, who happens to
be from the South made the most blatantly terrible stalling call I have ever seen in my close to 50 years
watching wrestling. Without this call CP wins the dual and in my humble opinion goes on to win state.
Congratulations to LN for moving on to thte finals and to Perry Meredian. See you all next year.
Mr Steiner, Do you really think that official is from "the south"? He was born and raised in Indianapolis and still lives about 15 miles from downtown Indianapolis. He is indeed south of Crown Point, but VERY far north of Evansville. As usual, though, your post remains consistent... consistently ridiculous.
-
It sounds like that the assistant referee messed up by noticing that the clock was running prior to the referee re-starting the match and not quickly bringing it to the referee's attention prior to him starting the match.
That ref was probably Greg Dye trained

WingMan, correct me if I am wrong, but aren't you a "very close family member" to the Lynde family? If so, why do you speak of them in the third person like you're an outsider that just happens to know them and their situation? Go ahead and state who you are and how you know this stuff and you'll be more credible. You might also consider letting Tanner's credentials speak for themself and not post topics about good he is. We all already know that he's a great wrestler and an even better kid as he's proven that without your help.
-
What about Lynde? His first loss last year was in the Semi-State finals and then at State (to a Welch). He went out with three losses last year and went undefeated at Disney Duals in the largest school group.
Question WingMan... Aren't you a family member for Mr Lynde?

In the last 6-7 years the school's enrollment has grown from 1600+ to almost 2300. Lots of new housing, a 100 million dollar school, and a growing community offer a whole lot more than just a wrestling program. I'm guessing that most of those folks moving in did so because it was best for their family. The other sports teams sure haven't benefited a whole lot from it, as they aren't making a whole lot of noise on the statewide scene.

Well. mole if you could read and weren't so arrogant I said" If this is true," then I stated my opinion. I also think you may have not got the logistic of the conversation. I have been around this sport for quite a number of years. The point I was trying to get to, was that the safety of the wrestlers is in the hands of the refferee, and he/she is the responsible party. And yes you are right I haven't reffereed past sectionals, due to the fact that watching my son is far more important to me and I also know that I get to involved in the wrestling past the level of sectionals. In other words you have to know when not to do it and if you can't do the JRs. correctly go to pee-wees and learn.
I think the Mole was right on top of the "logistic" of your comment, and so was everybody else that read you "stating your opinion". You are the typical guy that has a license, doesn't officiate, but is an expert because you have been around wrestling for many years and once a year you send a check to the IHSAA to renew your license. A true referee (notice the correct spelling of the word) wouldn't call for an official's license because of an alleged bad call, because that referee has also made a bad call,or three, himself. I hope you get the logistic of my comments Mr. C ;D

Hey PopTart... Do you agree with the 130 predictions at Evansville?
-
terry No you didnt say it you typed it
You are correct... I did say that an adult should never spit at anybody. I never said that the accused Castle fan spit on the Mater Dei mat maids, or anybody else for that matter. You seem to be angry at everybody that has an opinion on the matter if the opinion doesn't agree with yours, and that wasn't my point. Sorry if your taking it that way For the record, I wrestled 3 years for Coach Harmon, so there's no favoritism on my part for MD

I'm not sure what you're looking for here Mr Vaughn, as it seems like you question every response as if you are looking for a specific answer. It's pretty simple... have the right note, and the area does not look contagious, and it eliminates 100% of the issue. Regardless of what the note said and what form it is on, though, it is the ref's discretion if the area in question looks to be contagious. Unfortunately, "whether or not it looks contagious" is 100% the ref's opinion, and they should error on the side of safety I would think. I wouldn't care what the note said, but if it had juice coming out of it, I wouldn't let him wrestle. Is it a perfect system? No, but it's the best we have unless the home management provides a medical professional (not a trainer) on site to make the determination. Your son(s) wrestle in Elkhart...would you want them wrestling somebody with a questionable skin condition? Wrapping it up is NOT an option.
