  1. Although it is true that the coaches and teams participating in this event are highly competitive in nature, the IHSWCA really hopes this will be a special event for Indiana wrestling in general. It will be a celebration of wrestling for teams from 24 communities as well as an opportunity for teams/schools of all sizes to showcase their skills and have their moment under the spotlight on Dec. 22. When the tournament is over, it is the IHSWCA's hope that both the wrestling teams and Indiana wrestling fans enjoyed themselves and felt like they got their monies' worth. There are a few people that I would like to already start thanking for the time they are investing into this event: 1. JD Minch - tournament director - has already put numerous hours and days into this event. 2. Terry O'Neill and the Westfield HS athletic office who have been working feverishly on the logistics of the event. 3. Mark Durham - who has taken the bull by the horns with regard to trackwrestling and the 4 live camera feeds that will take place at the event and the sponsorships to cover this cost 4. Tom Clark - who has lined up 20 of Indiana's best high school mat officials to work this event 5. The ISWA - which has pledged their full support with equipment and manpower for the event 6. The Indianamat staff - who will be producing "classed" team ranking in coordination with the IHSWCA staff for Indiana wrestling fans to view. 7. Coach McCormick 8. Creason of the South Bend Tribune This is an impressive group. This is a sign of how strong the wrestling community is. This is something everyone wanted and it is sure to be a huge success.
  2. See what you did deekay64, now I want to post a serious response > I actually found one of the officials who made that call. When he explains what he saw it makes perfect sense. I don't feel like it is appropriate (and most officials would agree) for an official to get on the internet and defend a contraversial call (which this was) against the ramblings of anonymous wrestling fans from around the state that are responding to bias accounts of situations that require concrete facts to decide the morality of the outcome. If the officials involved in this sitaution were to respond to you I am sure they would say something like this: "I made the call for a reason. I am not taking a survey. I am announcing a decision." Sorry GrecoISU, you read this whole post and probably did not get the giggle you were expecting. Get back to your prep.
  3. Whoa, whoa, whoa... I said, "Finally, something about this makes sense..." because GrecoISU was getting a good laugh during his prep (and I am working in my office on a Sunday :-\). I quoted what I thought made sense. I am the last person you need to attack because I completely agree with you (if you read my comments in context).
  4. Did anyone see a water bottle in the weigh-in room? They did look very hydrated on that side of gym floor! I am sorry I couldn't hold that in any longer...
  5. I am very sorry for making a joke out of it. I woke up Sunday and believe me, it was no joke! I was very ill all day Sunday.
  6. 1st-Penn, 282, 2nd-memorial, 199, 3rd-the flu virus Crume, MVW
  7. Memorial, Penn, and Jimtown all brought their own referees... Should also mention all of them did a great job.
  8. I am at Elkhart Memorial and there are coaches out of their chairs, four people in each corner, people standing along the rope where there are signs that say,"absolutely no standing or sitting." When are these officials ever gonna stop worrying about points and enforce the letter of the law?!
  9. A good official is going to conduct the weigh-in so that no one gains an advantage or endangers themselves, and everyone who qualified wrestles that day Cosgrove, tell them what you used to do at state weigh-ins and lets discuss the ruling...
