  1. We have a freshman that is looking to get on a team that needs a 112 or 119. If so send me a message.
  2. Center Grove has 9 going to the Evansville SS. 103, 112, 119, 135, 140, 152,160,171,189.
  3. We shake hands with all wrestlers and coaches on the other team at the end of the dual meet. We offer positive statements like "good luck the rest of the year" or "good match". Our kids will shake other coaches hands after individual tourneys since we won't be lining up afterwards to do so. We have explained to our wrestlers why we don't shake in between matches during dual meets so they understand our point of view. Andwhenever a wrestler from an opposing school comes to us after a match we always shake hands with them. There are far more reasons to not shake than there are to shake. We are not trying to disrespect anyone or any program in the sport we love. We just don't find it necessary to shake hands all the time. If the other sports like football, of baseball start shaking hands after each play then maybe my point of view will be changed. Again, it not out of any disrespect for any opponent.
  4. I am looking for other people that are planning on going to the J Robinson 28 day intensive camp in Minnesota. My son would like to know who his roommate is before getting there. We could also split the travel as far as one of us taking them out and the other bringing them back.
  5. I like the commercial but I wish that they hadn't mentioned that he lost 8 lbs. in 115 minutes. We have enough trouble getting kids out for our sport because the football players don't want to lose weight. There is a perception that weight cutting is all we do and it keeps our sport from growing. I think Brute and Adidas should have known better than to advertise that. The commercial is cool but not the best ever.
  6. Clint Plake 119 Center Grove :05 seconds against Whiteland on 12/19/09.
  7. Coach, this is a very important topic for discussion and I'm glad you posted it. I have also been worried about the damage of H1N1 can cause a team. I feel that if a wrestler is sick they have to stay away. If this starts in a room it could end a season for a whole team. I hope that all coaches will treat this the same even if the sickness involves one of their best wrestlers.
  8. For everyone coming: Enter the school at Door #3. It faces South and is located at the Southwest corner off Morgantown Rd.
  9. Matt is fine. Basically he had a stinger. I know it looked alot worse than that at the meet but you can't complain that the trainers take every measure needed to make sure a kid is safe when he is complaining about numbness in his neck. It happened when he was hitting a double, just a fluke accident.
  10. Since we are taking time to recognize a great act by Tony, I would like to let people know about another such act that took place. Matt Goodwin from Lawrence North took time last year the morning after team state to drive himself back down to Center Grove to our beginners tournament to wrestle my step-son Marcus Milton. Marcus has autism and has spent countless hours in the gyms watching his brothers wrestle. He always talks about when he will wrestle, so we decided to make it happen. Marcus had his own bracket that included himself, Matt Goodwin and Morgan Plake (one of our high school wrestlers). The bracket had Marcus and Morgan on top and Goodwin on the bottom. We had Morgan wrestle awhile and eventually get pinned. That set up the finals. Matt wanted to also get pinned but we told him to win by a couple of points so that Marcus could see that you don't always win. He wrestled Marcus for the whole match and ended winning like 8-6 in overtime. It was truly an awsome experience both for Marcus and our family. Matt hung out with Marcus for awhile afterwards making his day. Thanks again Matt and Morgan you are two great young men.
