Thank you again to all who chimed in on this subject. It is always wise to consult the salty dogs of the parenting world in these situations. Hopefully this will help some other young parents and remind others that there is a fine line between pushing and pressuring your children. One of my biggest fears as a parent is pushing my kid to hard in any direction or path that is not his /her own.

OK, I want to here from the dads and from the sons on this. For the dad, I would think that it would put more pressure on you and your son if you are the head coach of a team that your son is on, do you feel this is true/ For the sons, do you think it was added pressure for your dad to coach you, and if so do you believe that having someone else work with you on a daily basis would make it an easier situation? My dad coached me in baseball when I was younger, and I did not have a problem with it. Wrestling though is a whole new animal, so I was just wondering what everyone thought, thanx.

What kid are you talking about? I agree with Delphi winning, they are loaded this year. I love this tournament, but looks like I won't be making the trip this year. Somebody help a brother out by posting results throughout the day if you can. Tanner Lynde from Delphi

Quick ? If after 15- 20 sec the ref stands them up do you reward the bottom man with an escape?and if so I think that might be a disadvantage for the top man, in some cases, its not his fault the bottom man cant escape.

I think the people may have a big surprise waiting for them at 140, this kid is really starting to wrestle to his potential which is a really bad thing for the well known wrestlers.

Thanx to everyone who replied. Here is another deli ma, the local school's wrestling program is going downhill quick. The teachers want the wrestling room for their own use and the supposed coaches dont care that there isnt even going to be a middle school program this year let alone a clinic. So where do I look for help? I live in the rural Lafayette area and I know that there used to be a river city wrestling program but I do not know if it still exists.

How would you rate your local newspaper's wrestling coverage?

The Journal & Courier in Lafayette is really not to bad, but is still very lacking in the knowledge department. I think the key is to get some smart well coached wrestlers in the news rooms all together. Newspapers are one thing but how many local news stations actually cover, even bigger events? -
Hello everyone, I was just wondering what is the best age to begin a lil munchkin's wrestling career? My son turned 5 in October and he has been around the mat his whole life, but I don't want to start him to young and make it a chore or a burden for him instead of something wonderful. Any input on this subject will be much appreciated.
