The recent debacle and sad turn of events that took place Saturday at Jay County Regionals makes me sadder than words can express. We should all be aware that it is still February in Indiana and there are two weeks left in the state tournament series. None of us is immune to similar situations for our own wrestlers yet even this year. My family has personally experienced similar situations in past years that could well have ended much like it did for those teams unable to attend last Saturday. I?ll spare everyone the details of that particular instance on this post, but since that day, the ?what if? scenario has been a constant worry in the back of my mind ever year during the state finals series.
I hope that this recent tragedy of events, because it actually DID happen instead of ALMOST happened, will produce an official group or ?committee?, if you will, dedicated to fact finding and solution planning that will end in an approved, official plan of action for any future similar situations. We must eliminate the possibility that this type of thing will happen to any of our teams, wrestlers, athletes, sons or daughters, ever again.
