Jeffersonville Varsity is now 11-3 on the season. Jeff places fourth at Jeff Classic: After being seeded fourth prior to the Jeff Classic, the Jeffersonville wrestling team performed as advertised with a fourth-place finish. ?We had eight kids place above their seed, four kids get their seed and only two miss their seed,? Jeff coach Danny Struck said. The top four teams in the tournament are all ranked in the Top 20 in the state. Evansville Mater Dei took first place in the team scores. Bloomington South was second, with Jennings County placing third. For Jeffersonville, Alonzo Shepherd got the team?s only first-place finish in the 113-pound weight class. Jeffersonville had top-8 finishes in every weight class but one.

JV went 2-1 at Oldham County Duals today, not bad!! we sent our 3rd and 4th teams vs. their #2 teams....... 800lbs of food was brought in during our canned food drive on saturday, and $100 in donations towards Gleaners food bank!   10. just had the food bank pick up the food........over 800lbs for sure, possibly more....2-300 of it was from madison alone!! even some people put in monitary donations. thank you to all the wrestling families out there that helped!!
  11. Bentz and Skinner thankfully cleared out their cabinets by skipping a meal and WON THE JEFF CLASSIC FOOD DRIVE . I would throw Olds in there, but he is TOO skinny...so no joke. But in all seriousness - thank you to all the teams at the Jeff Classic that participated in the canned food drive, our weight area is so full of canned foods we can't lift weights monday! this will do a lot of good for a lot of people. Madison donated by far the most. We will be dropping off all the food and $ donated by all the teams to the Gleaners Food Bank. Pretty awesome when all these teams competing against eachother, can do something so awesome together. Again - way to go Madison for donating the most!!!!

  15. Jeffersonville will hold the 34th annual Jeff Classic wrestling tournament Saturday at Johnson Arena. The 17-team field will feature five ranked teams, including Indiana?s No. 5 Evansville Mater Dei, No. 15 Jeffersonville, No. 17 Jennings County and No. 20 Bloomington South, and Kentucky?s No. 2 Louisville St. Xavier. Mater Dei is the defending champion. Wrestlers to watch include Mater Dei?s Jake Lannert (undefeated and ranked No. 2 in the state at 145 pounds), Jeff?s Alonzo Shepherd (an Indiana University signee ranked No. 4 at 113), Jennings County?s Iyan Bass (undefeated and No. 4 at 220), and Muncie South?s Isaiah Bradley (undefeated and No. 4 at 152). New Washington?s Jacob Franklin is the top seed at 160. St. Xavier?s Justin Lampe (135), Kody DeSpain (145), Hunter French (152), Noah Bower (171) and Chris Lawrence (285) are all ranked in the top five in Kentucky in their respective weight classes. Charlestown won last week?s Mid-Southern Duals. The Pirates won the title for the eighth consecutive year.   16. WRESTLING ? Red Devils win pair of dual meets: One Red Devil squad traveled across the Ohio River into Louisville and defeated Trinity, the fourth-ranked team in Kentucky, 57-17. At Johnson Arena, the other Jeff team rolled past Corydon, 75-3. Against the Shamrocks, the Red Devils had nine wrestlers prevail in their respective matches with a pin. They were Jasi Coureur (106), JoJo DeLeon (113), Oscar DeLeon (120), Jordan Schremp (126), Brandon Marlin (170), Brandon Spangler (182), Elijah Curtley (195), Brandon Brown (220) and Armond Thompson (285). In the 145-pound match, Jeff?s David Fridley won by a 5-4 decision. Versus the Panthers, the Red Devils won 13 of the 14 matches. Winning by pin for Jeff were Stevie Jones (106), Lucas Casteel (132), Leo Rodriguez (145), Devyn Long (152), Zach Green (170), Nick Kyro (182), Aamil Haleem (195), Gary Gaines (220) and Gavin Jolley Little (285).
