  1. I'm always suprised by the huge audiences that we get for high school wrestling! Unfortunately, businesses who make a living by supplying the wrestling community do not seem to realize the size of the market they are missing. With more financial support LIVE VIDEO Wrestling broadcasts would catch on like wildfire around the State of Indiana. I guess people think basketball is better than wrestling. Boo!!
  2. Thursday's with Penn definitely will be with Coach Al Smith and Referee Jeff Colburn doing the commentary. I will check with the Mishawaka students to see if they can do the Lowell match as well
  3. www.broadcastsport.net will be broadcasting with LIVE VIDEO from 14 huge events this season, starting on December 17th with the Mishawaka at Penn Dual Meet through the Team State Finals on February 27th. This will be the 5th year that we have broadcasted the Wrestling State Finals. Our announcers include former High School and College coaches and former wrestlers, including Hall-of-Fame Coaches Al Smith and Henry Wilks. Check out the following list and let your friends and family know that they can watch Live Wrestling wherever they live throughout the world. 8. Wrestling starts at 6:00 on Friday and 9:30 on Saturday. Yes we plan on broadcasting Team State. We can do video there since other folks would rather do swimming. If we can get some sponsors we can run multiple streams to cover matches besides the ones the Mishawaka team is involved in.
  9. Since Saturday morning about 2300 households for Fort Wayne and 3700 for Merrillville. Not bad for a 'second-class' Sport! HA!
  10. www.broadcastsport.net will be providing LIVE VIDEO of Friday night's State Finals matches. We're planning on webcasting 3 separate video feeds to capture as much action as possible. Of course Legendary Hall-of-Fame coaches Al Smith and Henry Wilks will be headlining 2 of the webcasts along with Randy Mitschelen and Tony Holt. We should not experience the buffering problems that we ran into last week at the Semi-States. Unfortunately, the Grinch has once again stolen Christmas, another broadcast company who has not covered a single wrestling event this year has decided that they can cover a 4 mats all day Saturday with only one set of broadcasters. We know how in-effective this method can be, but it is acceptable at the lower levels of the tourney. However, when we get down to the top 8 wrestlers in the State of Indiana, how does a broadcast crew decide which ones are not worthy of their attention? Because of contracts which the IHSAA has agreed to, some media outlets have been given the ability to decide who gets to see what action and who can provide it for you. With that being said, throughout the day Saturday, we will have 4 individual audio broadcasts with each one dedicated to 1 of the 4 mats. Therefore, all 112 of the best wrestlers in the State will have each of their matches covered. Last year Al Smith fans posted on the Coaches Association website that his audio only commentary was better than other people's video broadcast.
  11. All of the archives are now available for Fort Wayne and Merrillville Semi-State broadcasts. On a side note we will be removing the link to the archives of the Elkhart and Mishawaka Sectional archives late this evening per the IHSAA's request. Make sure that you get you fill before then.
  12. What a day yesterday! Sorry for all of the bandwidth issues with www.broadcastsport.net. We will be working on uploading the archives from Merrillville and Fort Wayne. At Merrillville we also saved a copy of the Finals to the hard drive on a laptop, so we could have a clean copy without buffering. That is now available for your viewing pleasure on the Merrillville Semi-State page. We'll be adding more throughout the afternoon, after church and belated Valentines Day dinner with the wife. Next week at the State Finals we will not have the same issues or I will have a stroke.
  13. www.broadcastsport.net is always looking for folks who we can help setup a broadcast crew. If anyone at Evansville or New Castle is interested let us know and we would be glad to assist. It's really not that hard to webcast!!!

  18. www.broadcastsport.net will be providing a LIVE VIDEO Broadcast of this Saturday's Merrillville Wrestling Semi-State. We plan to stream 2 separate broadcasts to try to capture as much of the action as possible. With Hall-of Fame Coach Al Smith covering 2 mats and Hall-of-Fame and 2009 Billy Thom Award-recipient Henry Wilks on the other 2 mats, they bring over 50 years of coaching experience to our broadcasts. We also will be broadcasting with LIVE VIDEO from the Fort Wayne Semi-State. In addition there are complete brackets for all 4 of this week's Semi-States at www.broadcastsport.net. The brackets for both of the Northern Semi-States will be update throughout each round, and also the other Semi-State brackets as we can get results sent to us. The IHSAA has graciously allowed us to provide our viewers with archives for 2 weeks after the Semi-State is over.
  19. I hate to show my ignorance or to appear needlessly picky but... When the Regional Winners are paired off according to the IHSAA's criteria for which Regional's #1 seed wrestles which Regional's #4, etc.; why aren't the Regional numbers used the same ones assigned by the IHSAA. With the Regionals moving from school to school, it would seem that try to change the order every year to use alphabetical order needlessly complicates things.
  20. www.broadcastsport.net will be Live Video Webcasting from the Jimtown Regional.
  21. www.broadcastsport.net has the entire team state bracket on a single sheet. Click on the 'IHSAA Playoff Pairings' button and then the 'Wrestling Pairings' button.
  22. Once again this year www.broadcastsport.net will be webcasting with LIVE VIDEO from both the Elkhart Memorial and the Mishawaka Sectionals tomorrow. At Mishawaka, Fabio Jr. will start the day and then Al Smith will join him for the Finals. Would you call that a Dynamic Duo or what! At Elkhart again this year, Randy Mitschelen will head-up the crew calling the action. Both Sites will be updating brackets as the day goes along. We're calculating current team scores as well. However, as a programmer trying to make sense of the complicated Team Scoring formulas; there is a chance that I might make a mistake. Thanks for those who were patient with our brackets during the Al Smith Invite. Maybe some day brackets can be posted online for all tourney sites! The IHSAA has agreed to allow us to make our archives available for 2 weeks after each event. We say 'Thanks to the IHSAA' If we can procure some sponsors we will be able to continue all the way to both Individual and Team State Finals. Don't forget we still are offering Al Smith Invite DVD's. Need some more sales to cover initial cost.
  23. www.broadcastsport.net will be updating brackets throughout our broadcasts in the tourney. We're doing Sectionals at Elkhart and Mishawaka, Regionals at Goshen and Rochester, Semi-States at Fort Wayne and Merrillville. Don't forget about the LIVE VIDEO from these locations!
  24. The idea about journalism students from each school writing stories about each sport is a great one! Here's another: Put those same students behind a microphone and webcast events from all sports. There is no limit to the number of events being webcast at the same time and the equipment and streaming fees are miniscule compared to the 'old media' way of doing things. We're willing to teach and/or advise any students or fans who are interested. There should be more than at most half-a-dozen groups willing to broadcast wrestling!!!
