  1. Reitz advances all 9 with 8 in the finals
  2. I'm not slighting the Castle sectional even though I'm sticking with my 43 number. It could very well be in the low 30's or anywhere in between. These are just my opinions. I watch (and follow) a lot of wrestling and not just on the West Side. I respect the PAC and even did a little wrestling there myself back in day. I cheer like crazy for the "little guys" or the up and coming programs when they're not wrestling people I know or support. The Central sectional advanced 39 to the Semi-state last year even with the Welches and Stein - 2010 (33) and 2009 (32). Castle sectional has done very well in the 152 - 215 weight classes in the past 3 years with Central only advancing (152) 33%, (160) 42%, (171) 42%, (189) 50%, & (215) 42%. In that same 3 year time period, Central sectional has the edge in (285) 67%, (103) 92%, (112) 58%, (119) 67%, (125) 83%, (130) 58%, (135) 83%, (140) 67%, & (145) 83%. There have been 8 times in the past 3 years that Central has swept the weight class: 2011 (130, 135, 145 & 285), 2010 (103 & 135), & 2009 (103 & 125). I predict Central will sweep 4 classes in 2012 -> 113, 132, 138, & 152. Will I be wrong? Probably so....................
  3. 106: Castle, Reitz, Mater Dei, Memorial 113: Reitz, North Posey, Mater Dei, Harrison 120: Castle, Reitz, Mater Dei, Memorial 126: Reitz, Memorial, Mater Dei, Boonville 132: Reitz, Mater Dei, Central, Memorial 138: Mater Dei, Central, Mt. 4. I haven't got BlueBolt going much this year but I still have 3 weeks left!
  5. I know Stock won the PAC over Baehl. What was the score? Any big moments in the match? The Hoehn / Schnell match will not be close in my opinion. Unless Schnell would happen to catch and pin Hoehn...............Hoehn will win by a major.
  6. Pierre is looking good right now - I Doudt it will happen ;D You could list at least one match in each weight class at Castle and two matches in the heavier weights. There are always surprises!
  7. I seem to remember Howe rewarding Duckworth for coming out agressive versus running or balling up? I could be wrong but that's the way I remember it.
  8. Okay - after looking at the brackets, I'm changing my prediction to 43 out of 56. 106: 3 113: 4 120: 3 126: 4 - could be 3 132: 4 - could be 3 138: 4 - could be 3 145: 3 152: 3 - chance for 4 160: 3 170: 3 182: 2 195: 2 220: 2 - chance for 3 285: 3
  9. Central Sectional will advance 41 out of a possible 56. 106: 3 113: 4 120: 3 126: 3 132: 3 138: 4 145: 4 152: 3 160: 3 170: 3 182: 2 195: 2 220: 2 285: 2
  10. Boonville finishing ahead of Castle had to be a big boost for their program and a bit of a shock for Castle! My wife teaches at Boonville Middle school and she told me the kids were doing great the past few years. Congrats to Boonville and HH!!!
  11. I hope Mrs. Wedding snapped this picture.......................The ref raised the Harrison wrestler's hand after Wedding had just Teched her. This would be a priceless photo for Logan's scrap book. I noticed this ref did the same thing a couple of other times. He also seemed to give out the most bench warnings to the coaches. He was definitely not on his game. I'm not bashing the refs (even though it may appear so) and I know I couldn't do any better!! My question is, if a ref is having an obvious bad day, can the tournament director or head offical (etc. ?) make the decision to move this ref to the 5/6 mat or at least make him the spotter (or whatever it's called) instead of the head ref on the mat?
  12. 106: Kuhn ® looked good against Seng (MD) who improves every week. 113: Davis ® got the best of a crazy deep weight class. I fully expect all 4 to make it to Semi State. 120: Good win for Johnson (ME) - top 3 are very competitive with Welch looming next week. 126: Emotional win for Wedding (ME) over Vanhook ®. Exciting match..........should be another good one next week. I'm not counting out Pierre (MD) either. 132: Moody ® continues to impress - controls the match 138: Lannert (MD) all I can say is WOW. Kelley (CE) and Hoehn (MV) with another epic battle. They will be going for 2nd again next week. 145: Hayhurst (ME) won a strange match in the finals when Appel ® down 1 in the 3rd period couldn't come up with a shot or even attempt a shot. Nice job by Elderkin (NP) of making it through. 152: Rueger ® - not much to say.....dominate. 160: Parkinson (MD) wins it after a tough semi-final match with Dickens (NO). Dickens just ran out of gas. 170: King ® dominates Campbell (NO). I do appreciate the way Campbell continued to wrestle and try things when he was obviously overmatched. I hated to see the injury to Schnieder (MD) - I know he's been battling this for a while. 182: Brandentein (MD) dominate and appears to be on his game. 195: Maurer (MD) continued to pull away as the match went on but I was impressed with Lane (NO). It was probably good for Maurer to get some work in. 220: Schnarr ® was gasing bad and the Boo Birds from MD were out in full force. 285: Wright (MD) looks very good and is a pinning machine. The officiating today was for the most part - suspect. It didn't seem to favor any one team but I would have to say the missed Back Points in the Stock / Mastison match was one of the worst calls of the day.
  13. Schneider beating Campbell is a likely possibility. Apparently, Campbell's lone loss on the year is to Folz of MD? Folz dropped to 152. I doubt if any of the MD folks will comment on this but I would imagine Schneider gets the best of Folz in the wrestling room?
  14. Stacked may be a little too strong a word? However, when you have the PAC champion and the Mater Dei Holiday classic champion seeded 3rd - stacked still comes to mind!
  15. Thanks for the info niceshot! 113 - stacked. 120 - balanced. 138 - wow - the PAC champion is the 6th seed. 145 - toss up. I still think Heohn would've been the favorite and be able to eat a full meal this week - but oh well. 152 - Dallas just made this class lose some sleep other than Reuger who should rest peacefully. 160 - Have Parkinson and Lindenschmidt wrestled this year? If so, what was the score? 170 - I'm not saying a word! 220 - Pace impressed me on Saturday. Hardnosed kid & athletic. The re-match with Collins should be a good one in the semi's.
  16. Can someone post the top 4 seeds? Come on "Niceshot" - you usually come through with the info!! I need to re-rack my predictions based on seeding.
  17. Was the seeding meeting last night? If so, any surprises, weight changes, etc? Did Hoehn go to 145?
  18. I noticed a lot of the Mt. Vernon gang at Castle last Saturday. Even Big 8 people know the SIAC trournament is a much better show Either that or they don't serve ChickFilet's in Vincennes? HAHA - no - I'm sure there was some major scouting going on preparing for Sectionals!!
  19. I didn't know Braye had beat Hoehn. I agree he could step into the 4th spot. I can't find much information on North this year, opponents, etc...............that's why I can only base my predictions off what I saw this past weekend, records listed in the SIAC tournament booklet and what I remember from last year.
  20. HaHa...............BDB is drunk on the North CoolAid.............. He or She may just be trying to get everyone worked up?
  21. I just noticed they wrestled up for the Big8. Not sure if they're staying there or not but I think it's a good move for Hoehn and could end up being a good move for Dallas.
  22. I agree you could swap Goebel and Johns but Johnson will likely have the #1 seed and slide into the 2nd spot or win it. Davis could very well beat Mastison plus you can add Johnson and Stock in the mix. VanHook is my favorite but I was going to wait until Regional for another win over Wedding. Kemper can beat anyone in this weight class but I see Hoehn coming out on top if he stays at 145. Dickens could very well be Colavechia. This weight class is wide open until the regional when Oser takes control.
  23. Ok - I will bite on this.......... 106: Brown 113: Mastison 120: Welch 126: Wedding 132: Moody 138: Lannert 145: Heohn 152: Rueger 160: Oser 170: King 182: Brandenstein 195: Maurer 220: Schnarr 285: Wright Basically, all SIAC except for 145 and 160.
  24. For your viewing pleasure ..................my top 4 picks. 106: Kuhn ®, Seng (MD), Arney (ME), Wilson (MV) 113: Mastison (H), Davis ®, Johnson (MD), Stock (NP) 120: Johns ®, Johnson (ME), Geobel (MD), Turi (CE) 126: Wedding (ME), VanHook ®, Pierre (MD), Hoehn (MV) 132: Moody ®, Schroeder (MD), Oakley (CE), Bouchie (ME) 138: Lannert (MD), Kelley (CE), Backes ®, Frynmiere (NP) 145: Hoehn (MV), Bassmeier (MD), Kemper (CE), Appel ® 152: Rueger ®, Dallas (MV), Henshaw (ME), Folz (MD) 160: Parkinson (MD), Colavechia (ME), Dickens (N), Wimpleberg ® 170: King ®, Schneider (MD), Funke (ME), Campbell (N) 182: Brandenstein (MD), Meyer (ME), Cravens (Bosse), Meyers ® 195: Maurer (MD), Lane (N), Brown (ME), O'risky (NP) 220: Schnarr ®, Pace (CE), Collins (MD), Barnes (ME) 285: Wright (MD), Hohl (CE), Little (NP), Mattingly (ME)
