The name on the wall in the Portage wrestling room serves as a regular reminder to Kyle Keith. Eric Keith, 2000 state champion, 140 pounds. "It motivates me," Kyle said. Not necessarily to match his brother's accomplishments, not even to try to distance himself his long shadow, just to establish a wrestling identity of his own. "I was talking to someone (Monday), I remember when I was young, it was, 'oh, that's my brother, I want to be like him,'" Kyle said. "I looked up to him. Every time I saw him walk out on the mat, I thought, 'oh my gosh, he's really good.' It was very special for my brother, our family. We all went through it. I grew up watching the Portage dynasty. I like it that (Eric)'s my brother. I just didn't really care to be known as 'Eric's little brother'. But I don't have a problem with it now." Eric, who wrestled at Michigan State, and dad Kerry remain huge influences. They scout matches for Kyle and Eric's forever tutoring him, though the two are completely opposite wrestlers. Eric weighed 140 and was a takedown machine. Kyle's a 189 who thrives on back points. http://nwi.com/articles/2009/01/14/sports/indiana_prep_sports/doce14e0ee63ae7b2ac8625753d00634c4e.txt

  17. Mike Clark isn't your ordinary prep student-athlete. In fact, there's nothing ordinary at all about Calumet's wrestling captain. Quiet, and unassuming, Clark seems to be an extraordinary individual. He's demonstrated responsibility, has proven himself to be reliable and dependable, and demonstrated he's individual of great character. Mature beyond his 17 years, Clark is a young man who takes care of business nearly 24/7. He maintains a B-plus average in school, is one of the top 130-pound wrestlers in the area, and has been running his own business out of his family's garage for a couple of years now. The business -- Clark's Screen Printing and Sign Advertisement -- has expanded from making and selling stickers and graphics for race cars, tow trucks and other vehicles -- to designing and manufacturing silk screen T-shirts. "I probably make around 300-400 shirts a month,'' said Clark, who estimates he earns about $2,000 in profit every month, which helps him defray the costs of his machines and materials. http://www.post-trib.com/sports/highschools/1374302,wrsclark.article

Keith Davison admits he has had a rewarding career. The financial advisor for Wachovia Securities, LLC in Merrillville helps people build their financial portfolios to help secure their futures. Even with the volatility of today's markets, he makes sure investors are doing the right thing and don't panic. "I help people do what is best for them," Davison said. "I also have to explain about the market and there is a lot of fluctuation, but that's where you have that trust with your clients. Focusing on long-term growth and look at the big picture." Davison, a former two-time state wrestling champ from Chesterton, is also involved in making life better for those who are not as fortunate. For seven years he has been involved with Rebuilding Together Duneland, which describes itself as an affiliate of the nation's largest volunteer home rehabilitation organization. It helps struggling homeowners lead safe, secure and independent lives. The group's focus is on assisting those in the Duneland community who are financially burdened (or low-income) with an emphasis on the elderly, disabled and families with children. "I wanted to do something I was passionate about," Davison said. "It is a very compelling charity to help people stay in their houses and that sense of being involved in my community (Chesterton) which has been so good to me." The group's work includes making modifications to meet with Americans with Disabilities Act modifications for seniors and handicapped individuals. "It is good to help others, to help people live a good life or continue living a good life," Davison said. "There are people who are having hard times. "I think this helps build a better community if you can help others lift themselves up. It makes me realize how fortunate I am." WHERE ARE THEY NOW? | KEITH DAVISON The Keith Davison file Davison is a financial advisor for Wachovia Securities, LLC. He is also the chairperson for fundraising for Rebuilding Together Duneland, which does home rehabilitation to help struggling homeowners stay in their homes and lead safe, secure and independent lives. Davison also coaches football for Duneland Pop Warner, Duneland Wrestling Club and is on the board for the Chesterton library system. The 1989 Chesterton grad was an outstanding wrestler and was a two-time state champ at 171 pounds. He wrestled at Wisconsin and was the 1994 Big Ten champ at 190 pounds.
