  10. That doesn’t change the end result and what took place last week. The matchups were different due to a coaching decision to bump. Who’s to say that that doesn’t happen again, or if Rochester decides to not bump, that WC doesn’t still win the same number of matches? you can’t seed based on subjective criteria when you have objective data to help you seed the tournament. Like Joe said, head-to-head results have to matter the most, but that doesn’t mean Rochester should fall several spots. It just means WC has to be seeded ahead of Rochester, otherwise the whole seeding process just becomes the subjective opinion of the person who does the seeding.
  11. Agreed with Clint. If anything, it should boost WC into the top 4-5 discussion. Rochester has a great team and resume and shouldn’t be punished with their two blemishes, but WC should be rewarded for their win as well. WC is very solid at 1A from 120-150. 2 State Qualifiers, a SSQ, and several tough freshmen.
  12. Rochester bumped their 138- Basham up to 144. Rodriguez (WC) won by fall. Rochester bumped their 144 - Schott up to 150. WC’s 150 - Ezra Rodriguez fought off his back for over a minute to end the first period and trailed 5-0 going into the 2nd. Got the fall in the 2nd to seal the dual.

  16. This has been brought up multiple times. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe all proposals come from the IHSWCA and go to the IHSAA Board of Directors, which is comprised of 17 different individuals. Am I missing something?
  17. One of my favorite quotes when I hear the ole "kids these days" complaint: “The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.” - Socrates around 400 B.C. Kids will always be kids. Coach Mayaab at clinic said a few years ago that we have to build relationships and "milk" these kids. Going from playing Fortnite every day to being screamed at in a hot, sweaty, smelly wrestling practice is not enticing to any 14-15 year old kid. Not to mention, we expect them to show up, work hard, and then tell a kid with 10% body fat that he has to lose weight? Those can be difficult conversations if there is not a strong relationship between that coach and wrestler. Rules without relationships = rebellion. Gone are the days of demanding respect to gain respect from a kid, because they will just find something else to do. But if you show respect to the kid, I feel they will always gravitate towards the thing that gives them attention and love.
