  1. I definitely feel there are some favorites for SIAC but refuse to think there isn't a kid from a program outside who we have talked about that couldn't come in and win a title. I am not ready to say that Ferguson, Kelly and Kemper and the rest of Mater Dei are going to win either. I know Nick Lee is perhaps the best high school wrestler in the nation at 126 lbs but that doesn't mean overnight the rest of the team became the best in the SIAC. There are tough kids from every school in the SIAC. What about the Freshman first year wrestler from Harrison who made a deep run into semistate last year? Anyone know if he is going to continue wrestling this year? If he wrestles 220 lbs who can give him trouble?
  2. Depending on Reitzs Davis and what weight he goes he will be added to this list as well. It would be nice to see the SIAC have some state medals come back home. All of these kids will/should bring home some hardware.
  3. Ferguson looked ridiculously dominate. Todrank went 2 and 2(lopsided losses to good wrestlers), Davis went 4 and 2(losses were close matches to 3rd and 5th place) and Pierre went 4 and 2 (Pretty lopsided loss to Kelly but looked good overall) Didn't see Kemper so not sure about his day. I could see all of those guys placing at State and depending on their weight one or two could place top 3. I see 3 possible State Champions from the SIAC.
  4. Every year one or two kids from this conference come from nowhere to win it. Who should be the favorites to win and who will come off reserve or incoming freshman to watch? (Minus Lee @ Mater Dei)
  5. Reitz didn't give them a whole lot of trouble in the duals or SIAC (minus one year they won SIAC) but individually at Sectionals and Regionals Reitz did manage to keep up with them with individual champions and state qualifiers. As a team Mater Dei has always been better. I am looking forward to this year in several ways. From Mater Dei and its rise with Lee, Lehman and Pierre to Ferguson, Davis and Todrank at Reitz to Kelly and Kemper at Central. Harrison had a first year wrestler at heavy weight that I hope returns. North had some promising younger guys (one beat Todrank at Regionals) What is Memorial looking like?
  6. 113 is brutal 126 is tough 138 is ridiculous I would see it as this at 113 and if i was a mother of these kids I would worry. It is that brutal of a weight class this year. Throw in Red at State and it gets more silly. 1. Brock Hudkins, 10, Danville 2. DJ Smith, 12, Franklin Comm 3. Tyler Fergusen, 10, Evan Reitz 4. Jacob Brown, 12, Castle 5. Kyle Embry, 10, Matre Dei 6. Griffin Shermer, 11, Bloom S 7. Brian Rassback, 12, Avon 8. Hunter Fox, 11, Cascade
  7. Schweitzer @ 120 a possibility?
  8. You would lose money on that one. Ask people from RTC and the room. He can't beat Davis.
  9. I spoke to a mutual friend of Josh Davis from Reitz today and they said he is definitely not able to make 126 lbs. He wouldn't say what weight he was going but did say he is looking at 132 or 138.
  10. I was talking to some old school fans that told me this years Evansville group will be the best group in a few years. The excitement for southern boys to show the northern boys what's up is building. Should be a great year for Evansville to win some titles.
  11. The west side kids are still wrestling. Reitz has a camp or recently had a camp.
  12. Kelly and Kemper are both bigger than last year and I think Davis from Reitz is going to be quite a bit heavier than 120. That kid hit a growth spurt and is around 140-145 right now by the looks of it. A few people said Ferguson from Reitz had a significant jump in size too. I haven't seen Nick Lee but heard he is around 125-130. I try to keep up with west side because thats where I am from but I heard the Castle kid Brown is set to make another run at 113 from some Castle feeder parents and is hovering around 120-125 range now. Mater Dei has a quite a few good kids returning and some good kids coming in. They will have a solid squad this year. Reitz lost a great deal of talent and I haven't heard of any new kids stepping in. Is there any fellow west siders that know who is going to fill in the gaps in the lower weights?
  13. I guess state title contenders will depend a lot on what weight they end up at. There is a group of kids here in Evansville that are still wrestling. I would think they are making good gains at making a step up from last year. Are there any late summer camps in the Indy to Evansville area that are going to going on?
  14. Who is coming back from last year? I heard Mater Dei has some freshman coming in next year that can make waves in the state as well. Any idea what weight they are around?
