  1. I'm going to try this again from a different angle. Let me qualify my question by saying I never wrestled nor coached at the state championship level and have no direct knowledge of any of Phillips, Crume, LeCount or Ayersman other than what I read here and can see on paper, which is impressive. Using a basketball analogy, would a 2nd round match between the winner and Van Hook not qualify as a consummate trap match? You have a highly charged opening match and the winner has LeCount to look forward to at the semis for a chance to wrestle under the lights. I would think human nature would cause either of them to overlook Van Hook (assuming he wins). I guess the opener being on Friday night would help the winner enjoy the win and have time to refocus. Simply put, do any of you know enough about Van Hook to know if he has a legit sh0t at either Crume or Phillips? Or are they at a different level? Thanks for your thoughts.
  2. Agreed. They'll be lucky to get 5 of 9 past Friday night and may only get 3. Lannert seems to have gotten the best draw as the top of the 138 bracket looks tougher on paper. I'll be curious to see how Maurer does. First time I saw him this weekend, but he certainly didn't look infallible. Brandenstein was impressive, but I don't know much about those around him before the semis.
  3. I'm going to go with Kuhn losing to Hunter Fox at 106. The only reason I'm thinking it was major is Kuhn was up 10-0. Fox reversed him and got 3 back pts, but Kuhn escaped seemingly having avoided disaster. Less than a minute later Fox had him on his back again and stuck him. Maybe not a major upset, but a major turnaround for sure.
  4. I'll admit that I am a casual fan and know far less than most on this board, but am I wrong in thinking that everyone on here is overlooking the possibility either will not have a cake walk in the 2nd round match against Van Hook?
