  1. 75% maybe. It's sad to see such a warrior slowed down in his final year.
  2. At least from the Castle Sectional that's what appears to be the most likely outcome. You never know though.
  3. Some of us did. What's more interesting is the number of Big 8 and PAC wrestlers that will likely be coming to Regional as sectional champs.
  4. Glad someone else said what I was thinking.
  5. Well today turned out much different than people expected. Top 4 teams were MD, Central, Castle, then Reitz.
  6. Anyone over looking Mastison is CRAZY.
  7. Heritage Hills and Southridge 1 - 2. Gibson Southern 3rd. SS 4th (?) I would say Tecumseh moves up from last years finish also Possibly 5th.
  8. I think what was intended was that the level of competition falls off greatly in most weight classes. There are quiet a few Semi-State caliber kids, and more than a handful of State placers in the field. Not unusual but this year the teams are not as stacked as they have been over the last few years. It's not uncommon for the best wrestling of the day to come in the quarter and semi finals and the consolation brackets. Usually because it is more competitive before the front runner wins the finals. anything can happen though.
  9. 2 - 5 can go any which way. It's a big day for sectional seedings too.
  10. Doesn't make sense to a lot of us. Could have evened them out to make two pretty darned good sectionals and an even better regional.
  11. For the first time in a long time, the SIAC looks to be pretty flat. Not meaning to take anything away from the kids, but we have has a nice run of some hotly contested weight classes from beginning to end over the last few years and it hasn't been just one team walking off with it all. With a couple of excepts, 152 and up could be interesting.
  12. Writing this from Church, so I will try to remember my surrounds while I take time to say, PLEASE STOP MAKING EXCUSES! Exactly how was Todrank frustrating Welch from his back???? SMH.
  13. I can't disagree with that coach. But a win is a win.
  14. The Castle Central Dual was what got me. Central has a very solid team and I had Castle really sown this year. Looks like they are turning it up some.
  15. I wasn't able to go...but if that is the way it unfoldered, then not really surprised. MD's middle and upper is just more expirenced. In the Conference meet it is going to be a brawl from beginning to end and top to bottom.
  16. In a week or so none of that matters? The actual "season" starts and everyone is reset to 0 - 0.
  17. 132 may be worth the price of a ticket alone!
  18. 113 and 126 are Dominant for Reitz in this Sectional? Let's throw in 132 also? I am a Reitz alum, and WISH what you said was true, but let's be realistic for a few seconds here... I admire any kid who laces up his wrestling shoes and walks out there in from of his parents and peers to compete. But sometimes we have to just be honest and sometimes admit that there are REALLY tough kids that are (on paper) a bit more likely to win. They wrestle the matches for a reason. Anything CAN happen, and usually one or two really great prospects get bumped at sectional time. I don't see Reitz as nearly Dominant as I keep hearing you say. Kills me to say it, but there are some top notch kids that will be showing up and challenging for that crown and have just as much a shot of winning it as a Reitz Panther. If they ARE dominant, then they must first PROVE it, which honestly they have not done yet this year.
  19. MD by double digits. Lower Weights go to Reitz, Middle and upper to MD.
  20. I look for Mastison to pick it up starting at Conference time. He is so tall it has to cause people problems! What MD has that will pull them through is the ability to pin. It will hurt a lot not having 2 weight classes, but given the parity of the conference, pins will win this tourney, and what weight classes do you see that MD's entry can't pin in the consolation bracket? Just being realistic. I can see a case for the team finals to look like ME, CE, MD, and then the rest. It's all about the individuals and the ability to score big when needed.
  21. I have seen both, and the edge has to go to Brown. It is all about who shows up and who wrestles though. I think there may be a kid or two people forget about in their rush to wave their own flag. Reitz (and YES I am an alum) has a good team. Some outstanding kids and I am sure they will bring it. But as much as it hurts to say, this isn't the team we have had for the last few years. Things always change but predicting Reitz wins the sectional when there is a team like Memorial in the pool is plain crazy. One thing I WILL predict is a really great day of wrestling and that some kids no one is talking about make it through to the next weekend. Support your teams, but don't demean other kids or programs.
  22. Kirk Stenftenagel(J) Gene Brewer Memorial Award
  23. Schnarr at 220? Did I miss something?
