What is the most wide open weight class? No clear favorite, any of the Top 10 kids could win it, an unranked kid making a ton of huge upsets could win it. Thoughts?
-
Wow, looking at team score comparison (and I know you can't really go by this) but its looks like the 5th place team Evansville Mater Dei and 9th place team Jay County may have been the third and fourth place teams. Both were with Avon in Pool B
Avon 48 Jay County 39
Avon 43 EMD 36
EMD 45 Jay County 42
In the Championship Pool; Avon 71 New Pal 18

However, I do think its important to get all small schools recognition to help grow the sport. It does put me off when I see comments like the one made by Fabio Jr. above about teams he "didn't know existed", I think that is condescending comment in regards to small schools.

I did a little research to see just how underrated Union City and the TEC is. Here's what I have (mind you, some results may be missing).
Centerville 13-2
Knightstown 18-3
Union City 10-7 (was beaten 63-6 by Mt. Vernon and lost to Harrison's JV team) Also, lost to Cambridge City who is 2-7.
Union County (1-14), Tri (5-12), Hagerstown (4-6), Winchester (4-8), Northeastern (3-4), Cambridge City (2-7) and Union County (1-14) all have losing records.
Now, I do think there are good wrestlers in the conference. The Phillips kid from Centerville, Tucker Coffman and some of the Knightstown kids like Jon Simmons, Thomas Sollars and their heavyweight are pretty legit. I just don't see how someone argues for a team to get more recognition when that team is 10-7 in a conference where the majority of teams are struggling this season.
Were am I asking for a team to get more recognition? I said Union City may not be a Top 5 team in their own conference. So clearly I don't believe I am asking for them to be recognized.

I don't know, I guess Union City is in it. Must have some good team to be one of the better conferences in the state.
I don't believe the post states "one of the better conferences in the state" ...it says "may be" the most underrated.
So to clarify "may be" the most underrated as a 1A conference ... Union City has a win over #9 Shenandoah and may not be better than 5th or 6th in their own conference. So my thinking is if a middle of the pack conference team can beat a "Top 10" 1A team it "may be" underrated.

Does anyone know when will the pools and schedule will be released for ISWA Elementary Team State this weekend?
-
The TEC may be the most under rated conference, Union City has beaten some top teams and may not finish in the Top 5.

The kid from Jay was a state medal winner last year, and defending champion I think. Also a semi state champion which there are only 4 in each weight class...so probably a pretty good seed.

Coldwater and Greenville are both Ohio as well... correct?

Who are the teams entered?

When and Where are the holiday tournaments and who are the teams in each?

Wondering why this forum is used to promote elementary duals but not to post results.
Can results be listed from Roncalli, Columbia City, Daleville, Northeastern, Franklin, Perry etc....?
Am I missing this information anywhere? I noticed Rochester used Track.

Not my favorite moment ever but one that has stuck with me, is State Championship match between Sophomore's Jason Tristes and Devon Jackson wrestled to a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation. Best and Most exciting 0-0 match ever.

Here are the four Semi States since google maps only allows a certain number of layers...I kinda did my own borders based on the schools
East Chicago - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YnPPeTHV-ibwHKEmN9C0CMgbXoY&usp=sharing
Fort Wayne - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1PzP5Q_QCYBek5NuKH3H47x2O_Io&usp=sharing
New Castle - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1po66XQp-Zj_tM-PefepnxyuuCt8&usp=sharing
Evansville - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Cs3pGqHsBosEdpBNsxg5HKflvWA&usp=sharing
Id recommend a computer to view as I am not sure how the mobile experience will be....you should be able to click on each sectional and the list of schools and my border should pop up
Over all it looks pretty good with only a few head scratchers.....
Great Map...If it were my decision I may consider...Crawfordsville from New Castle to East Chicago, Plymouth to Fort Wayne from East Chicago and Delta to New Castle from Fort Wayne. And in the spirit of travel I would look to moving the Evansville SS to Bloomington or Bedford if possible.

Southwood and Northridge are an hour and a half apart!
Oops Northfield and Southwood
-
How is the IHSWCA dealing with class separation in regards to high schools consolidating / closing? I believe Northridge and Southwood will be consolidating, which would make for one less 1A school. Are there others?

Ok.. ok... we get it Avon sucks. I guess Danville sucks too. Is that what you want to hear?
Me personally would like to congratulate Logan Boe on one heck of a run.
I would also like to congratulate Avon for having 4 state placers (two sophomores and a freshman). Last time I checked... four state placers is a great thing.
Huge congratulations to Gunnar Larson on a great career and EARNING the mental attitude award. He is a great leader and will do something great with the rest of his life. Thank you to the IHSAA from realizing this also.
Last but not least... great season by the Bulldogs. They won everything! The always seem to be having fun and are all great kids.
With all of that said... Adams Central had a great season (wherever that school is). You should be proud of your kids. That zero points scored is very strong. I assure you that we will take your criticism to heart and get better. Thanks for your multiple post knocking our kids...... gesh!

Where were all the Adams Central fans Saturday anyway?

Before my senior year started coach had a talk with me and another teammate about having our girlfriends, of course we didn't listen. A few years later on my wedding day to that same girl...coach said to me "You don't have to do this" again I didn't listen. 10 years later divorced...should have listened.

Just a few 'newer' places to the downtown area (all within walking distance to The Bank) that may not have been open during last year's state finals:
Giordano's (already mentioned): Chicago style pizza on the corner of Illinois & Market
Brother's Bar & Grill: typical American fare, a large tap selection, and kid friendly during the day located on South Meridian.
Primanti Bros: Pittsburgh sandwich chain that puts the coleslaw and fries on the sandwich located on the corner of Illinois & Maryland. Pro-tip: get the 'slaw on the side (may be a bit overwhelming otherwise).
Wild Eggs: solid breakfast eats with a contemporary feel, at the mouth of Mass Ave on Delaware.
Wild Eggs is Awesome....suggestion to try Mr. Potato Head Casserole

Castle and Harrison are under 2200 students, so not entirely true. They just worked harder and wanted it more to get in the top 12.
I stand corrected....the number is 1900 not 2200.
-
Size doesn't matter, just work hard.
Or just want it more.
-
8 of the current top 12 have over 2200 students, only Columbus East falls well below the 2200 mark. The other three are private schools.

Jay County should be in this conference, fits their school size better than the ACAC.
