  1. Fantastic idea with the flat screens!! I want to wish all the wrestlers good luck and may the best wrestler win.
  2. So...if LaHue beats Stock and Schoettle he should be crowned state champion and the rest of the field should go home...makes sense. Someone might ask Mastison to stay home then...he just might beat Schoettle to keep that from happening.
  3. usually the sleepers are from the Central Sectional....1-4 seed means little...look at Lannert from last year.
  4. The entire 113 pound class top to bottom has had some strange things happen. Two kids came out of nowhere about mid-season and put their own stamp on the season. Mastison came in the heavy favorite with Stock a close second and ended up the 3 & 4 seeds. This is what is great about wrestling...you still have to wrestle the matches.
  5. Stock is good at keeping matches close enough to win. He is great on his feet and solid everywhere else. He is not your average 3 seed. He is the Mater Dei Classic Champion from this year.
  6. I guess I will bite on this. Stock will keep it closer than that. He was mauled by Davis and Johnson in the Central Sectionals and Regionals and I would bet as a senior will battle LaHue to the end. This is a good matchup for Stock as well. I will dare say its a 3-2 match. Whoever wins the flip will win the match. I have to admit I am biased towards Stock for being from our area.
  7. There are no easy draws this time of year but there are some tougher than average draws. Lannerts group, Davis's group, Mastisons group, Kings group, Weddings group, and Browns group are looking at a hard 6 minutes in the ticket round and I do feel for them. That being said...all of them lost at Regionals so they can be beat. This is what makes Saturday so fun.
  8. Every wrestler is better this time of year just some willing to work harder gain over the ones that dont. Mappes is a great wrestler that works hard. The rematch could still go either way. Beating Warren two out of three times was no fluke. On another note I would not want to be in 138 class this weekend with Lannert. I see him getting to the finals.
  9. The thing to remember is Schoettle is not going to walk into state. He still has to get past a very dangerous Mastison. The entire 113 class from Castle Regionals could easily upset every 1 seed.
  10. Pierre will not be denied. He wrestles Vanhook and Wedding well. He has great partners to work with too. Pierre will advance.
  11. Prayers for him. Wrestlers are the best athletes in sports and any one of them could get injured. Please keep us posted of his recovery.
  12. Has anyone been to the new Ford Arena? How will seating be versus the old Roberts Stadium?
  13. The thing I was trying to say it was not a 4 takedown and 4 cuts match. I remember the match and it was a 2 point match until the last second when Davis was doing anything to score while shoettle was good enough to score off his bad shot. I didnt say he didnt take Davis down I just remember it being a close match. There could have been a reversal for 2 but you are right. Its a new day and I think they could meet again.
  14. 113 Evansville Mastison over Schoettle. Mastison is tough and lasted in the Central Sectional meatgrinder. He is battle tested.
  15. In no order 106 Fox, Kuhn, Kennedy, Seng 113 Johnson, Schoettle (Mastison can upset here), LaHue, Davis 120 Shepard, Welch, Johns, Goebel 126 Wedding, Vanhook, Pierre, Meenach 132 Epler, Moody, Oakly, Molloy 138 Kelly, Kelly, Lannert, Judy 145 Castle Regional 152 Rueger, Dallas, Richey,Burnette 160 Underwood, Oser, no clue, no clue...flip a coin 170 Warren, King, Mappes, Cambell (used my heart for the last pick here) 182 Brandenstein, Wathen, Thacker, Konerding 195 Halbig, Maurer, Jones, Curtley 220 Collins, Knura, Bass, Boehm Hvy Ponder, Wright, Suter, Breen
  16. I watched it three or so weeks ago. I dont have it here and have seen 100 matches since. Either way they wrestled near the start of the season so I would bet the farm both are better. I have to say I have not seen Davis taken down three times all year other than if you are correct. Shoettle must be a machine or had something he knew on Davis. I have seen Mastison live and would not be shocked if he knocks him off first round. Also, cutting and escaping are not the same. Davis either was let up or wrestled out...there is a difference.
  17. I never saw Cambell N or Mastison H being seeded so low either. This Regional has heavy hitters top to bottom.
  18. This Regional is a coachs nightmare. Brown a 2, Johns a 2, Wedding a 2, Lannert a 3...on and on....Central Sectional creates bad sleep nights for the rest of the state. I love it!!
  19. 113 is a loaded weight class in this Sectional. Anthony Schoettle was beating Josh Davis 6-4 with 7 seconds left when Davis tried a suicide takedown to force OT and Shoettle got around for the last second 2. Whoever said Davis was taken down 4 and cut 4 is mistaken. I have seen the video. "scouting mission" I will say that Davis is the toughest kid in our Semi-State at 113. He looked great at Regionals until he mad a mistake. To Alex Johnsons credit he capitalized on that mistake and beat Davis. I dont see Davis getting stopped this weekend and look for him to go deep in the state tourny. I have seen several tapes of his matches this year and he is getting better with each match. Example is Johnson. First match was 1 point match Davis won. Second match was a 5 point match Davis won. Third was a 8-0 match and everyone in that gym saw Davis had the pin in the first period. Either way Johnson did pull off the upset with some luck and bad officiating. I see 2 and possibly 3 Central Sectional 113's getting in. Mastison can pull off the upset. His style shuts down offenses. I see Davis and Johnson getting to day 2 at state.
  20. Heritage Hills will come out swinging today. Princeton has some solid kids too. Boonville will get a sleeper or two through. There are only a handful of weight classes that are stacked to the rim with Central Sectional wrestlers that will dominate but the rest of the classes will depend on who shows up. Don't ever underestimate the Castle Sectional. I still see 35-40 Central kids getting through.
  21. Blue Bolt...Nobody here has slamed a kid. We all know every kid that wrestles is a winner compared to the lazy kid on a game. There are no locks but there are long shots. Central sectional has a few long shots but for the most part it carries more weight in the post season due to its brutal schedule. I say let the kids settle it on the mat. Watching a good injury free day of wrestling beats anything I could see this weekend. I still see 4 at 113 because Stock will show up and wrestle to continue his senior year.
  22. Bluebolt break your numbers down by weight class so I can see where we differ.
  23. Champions 106 Brown-Castle (Has Kuhns number) 113 Davis-Reitz (This is a tough weight class top to bottom but Davis has beat everyone except Mastison but has come so close. I think Davis will get it done) 120 Welch-Castle (Real deal) 126 Wedding-Memorial (Vanhook would win if he had two arms gave Wedding trouble with one arm) 132 Moody-Reitz (Controls everyone) 138 Lannert-Mater Dei (Tough weight class but he is the best) 145 Hayhurst-Memorial (Flip a coin on this one) 152 Rueger-Reitz (Tougher matches to come but still dominate) 160 Oser-Heritage Hills (Great matches all day in this weight) 170 King-Reitz (On a mission Senior Year) 182 Brandenstein-Mater Dei (Heritage Hills Konerding could upset) 195 Maurer-Mater Dei (Princetons Halbig has something to say about that) 220 Beohm-Heritage Hills (Reitz's Schnarr looked bad and will not beat Boehm if he wrestles like that here) 285 Wright-Mater Dei (Princetons Breen will either pin or be pinned in final)
  24. Central Sectional will get through 2 @ 106, 4 @ 113, 3 @ 120, 4 @ 126, 2 @ 132, 3 @ 138, 4 @ 145, 2 @ 152, 2 @ 160 and 2 @ 170. After that its 50/50. Several weight classes are as deep and talented as I have seen in a long time. Great job to those coaches and kids.
  25. Vanhook is wrestling well. Davis looks like a stud today. Cambell looks great and should give King a run. The rest of Reitz and Mater Dei look like they should. Finals should be great.
