  1. i think attendance would most likely go up because of families going to watch their wrestler but once again the quality of the wrestling would go down so as i stated before the parents that then would spend money for there tickets food hotel and so on...would be better off spending the money on there SS qualifier sending them to camps to actually get better why are you so driven on attendance or money? is this somehow going to fill your wallet?
  2. also didnt we break our attendance record this year? id say that is growth right??? i dont believe you can break it down like that because probably every fan that watched the consols in indiana also watched the finals and there were pleanty of fans that showed up for just the finals that would be included in the session attendance Nice try though ;D
  3. im sorry i destroyed whatever point you were trying to make lol and fireworks dont appeal to me in wrestling i disliked the smoke cannons at the ncaa tournament last year i like fireworks during the regatta here in madison when ive been drinking beer for 10 hours though since its not fair to compare the friday vs thursday please get the attendance numbers for the finals of both tournaments
  4. what was indiana's friday night attendance??? i heard it was close to 10 k so at 10k it would be and average of 40 people per state qualifier. for what you said about ohio that would be 10989 divided by 732 state qualifiers to equal 15 spectators per state qualifier so why are indiana wrestling fans so much more dedicated than ohio? possibly because there isnt class wrestling??
  5. when i was in school we had a great hospitality room at madison. we had very active parents which is the big key to this. get your parents involved.
  6. i think not hitting him for stalling in ot was a makeup for hitting him in regulation when he was wrestling just as much as vinny. neither had any O the entire match
  7. I wonder how many states have different classes for wrestling as oppose to basketball and football. After looking at the list of stays and classes it seems as many states might have a standard class system that applies to all sports
  8. Only once have I ever waited in line to get "good seats" for the finals. (Bruce v Warren hose job) Not worth the two and a half hour wait. banker's life field house is set up very nicely. If you have normal eye sight you can watch the 106 lbers from the very top row just fine. Besides that I'd rather set at Scotty's brew house drinking adult beverages by the pitcher
  9. I would like to see a straight hand picked order for the finals. Not following the normal order but to say start with 120 then 195 then heavy then 170 all leading to match most anticipated.
  10. Someone mentioned it earlier. The way everyone can be happy is a point spot. Say if you wrestle up one class you start the match with 2 points and if you move up two classes you start with 5 points. This way it is "fair" for the kids that came from a small school and we still get our one true state champion. I think that is a fair compromise. Although it won't hand out more medals it will give the guys from small schools an even shake even though I don't understand how one guy standing across from one guy that both weigh the same yet one of them had an advantage because his school is bigger. I've never ever seen someone go out to help another wrestler win a match. Guess if we ever implement tag team wrestling that should definitely be classed.
  11. States like penn ams Ohio are outliers and shouldn't be counted lol
  12. So you're saying they choose to not win a d1 title even though they can or they know they aren't good enough for that level of competition?
  13. We know you only hear what you want to. Let me put it like this if you coach your team to a team state title in Indiana (of which you can be proud of) and you don't want to challenge the number one team in the nation or at least accept they are better than you, then Y2 you are ignorant. Is that a fair assumption?
  14. since the beginning of time. That is why we have competition. I once wrestled in a world tournament in Oklahoma and there were three guys in my bracket. I won one match and am now a world runner up. It's not even a joke I really am by definition a world runner up. Should I be proud of this? And y2 I never said they were not proud to be a d2 champ. They should be proud because they had to work hard and go through many opponent to get there but if they think they should be more proud than the d1 guys they are either stupid or they beat the d1 champ that year
  15. you didnt treat it like an outlier so stop acting smart all you did was use it for your agenda even using it as a statistician would it would still benefit the small schools but you are using it to benefit the large schools once again your agenda not the truth
  16. im going to say yes they are less proud. i wont argue that you have to be talented to win a D3 or D2 title but ask yourself how many of the D2 champs watch the D1 ncaa wrestling tournament and how many watch the D3 tournament that alone will show that they know where the best of the best are and that (for the most part) they werent part of that
  17. like i said you shoot down logic because it doesnt fit your agenda instead of changing facts because it doesnt fit what you want. either dont use this argument or put the numbers out as they are factually.
  18. http://mwolverine.com/Top_Wrestling_States.html check this out this is only 1961 to 2011 but the numbers will still ring true if you look where indiana is on the list every state below them i tallied the numbers for states that have classes they have 234 individuals that reach AA for a combined 396 top 8 finishes in D1 NCAAs that was 24 states combined so yea the majority of classed states dont do well nationally
  19. do you really believe this there are at least 5 classed states that are terrible nationally for every one classed state that is good nationally
  20. straight from the website ASAA/FIRST NATIONAL BANK ALASKA 2014 4A WRESTLING STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS February 7-8, 2014 Bartlett High School – Anchorage Hosted by: ASAA and Bartlett High School so you propose to fix the outlier problem of MD having an obscure number from the average is to put them with the larges schools???? because that is exactly what Y2 did maybe Cathedral should be thrown out too because im sure that they are way off of the average for large schools i know this wont work because it doesnt fit your agenda
  21. you guys crack me up. the truth isnt a scare tactic. and you continue to say that putting EMD in the correct position makes the numbers inaccurate when you continue to want to put the tiny school that is good into the large school numbers to help your cause. funny how its only a good idea if it helps your cause to heck with it actually is the proper stats
  22. yes a one class system means everyone is equal and dont forget to count schools by size and not the class they chose to wrestle in for team state duals
  23. if indiana goes to classes for individual tournament you can wave bye bye to bankers life and say hello to Joe Schmo high school gymnasium going to Joe Schmo high school to win a state ... DIVISION title this weekend man that sounds pretty special doesnt it??? ive been watching multi class state tilte matches on youtube and its so boring california does it like we do with the lights off except they raise the mat on a stage thats how it should be the money situation is something i get. so now instead of kids getting better and earning a state qualification it is now given to them and they will have their whole family spending hundreds of dollars watching them at state yet their still the same kid they would have been b4 but that money could be used to send them to camps to actually make them better. i can see that better wrestlers isnt the goal of the guys who want class wrestling though
  24. Some states such as Pennsylvania and Ohio have such depth that classing wrestling doesn't water down the field near as much as it would Indiana. Most of the states that class wrestling probably follow a class formula for all sports because from the list Y2 posted it looks like 90 percent of the States that are classed shouldn't be. Here is the link everyone should take a look at the ENTIRE list.... indianamat.com/stuff/statebreakdown.html
