    He likely gets a lot of extra matches by advancing far in the tournaments they have participated in. While I confess that I do not know much about the current state of Harrison wrestling, I would bet that there aren't too many others on his team that make it to the finals on a regular basis.

    Mater Dei did it in '96. Then they had all of those in the round to go, eventually losing 3, but putting 10 in the semistate finals. They finished with 11 going to state - 5 firsts, 5 seconds, and 1 third. Not bad.

    Which is enough to say that it is not a simple "no, he looks great!" At any rate, he is a warrior and has been through a lot. I wish him all the best.

    But at the lower weights this is expected, right? The only upset (per the seeds) of a MD wrestler that has been posted is Seng not making the finals at 103. I haven't seen enough to hit the panic button yet.

    I am somewhat new to the board so I apologize if this is a stupid question, but is there a reason the Evansville Sectional Bracket is not available? And if it is not going to be available, where can I find the seeding information?

    Will you be posting results today, or is there a place where the brackets are kept updated?

    The voucher system may propose a challenge for the IHSAA, but the governor's concerns are a little more important than the smooth function of high school athletics. We are talking about enabling people to get out of these swamps of ignorance to go somewhere that might actually teach them. Whether it will work remains to be seen, but if the state is going to spend that much tax money on someone's education, I would personally hope we could get a little more for our money than we currently do.

    Can someone post the results from this tourney for either or both of the Indiana teams?

    After staring at this for a while thinking, "I wonder what on earth happened to Crown Point?" I realized that the rankings start at #2. Is it just assumed to be obvious that CP is #1 or was this an oversight? Great Job on the rankings, though. I like the decision to analyze the teams based on how good they are right now. That is, after all, how the tournament works, so a few early season losses won't keep a great team from the state finals.

    While I would agree that the "bad call" accusation is normally an excuse (as it is highly subjective and in the end doesn't matter in the record books), if the starter is replaced by a JV wrestler that is pertinent information and not debatable. It is not as if MD is losing the meet and saying "It is only because we wrestled 2 JV wrestlers!" The information about the JV wrestlers was for those who may wonder why MD lost at a particular weight when they normally do not, or to say "We really wrestled well today, winning by X points even though two of the starters were out." Your comment tastes like sour grapes to me. It is easy to see why your cool points are so low.

    Any news from the early rounds? Perhaps a listing of those in the semi's by weight class? Or, better yet, could someone post updated brackets?

    Which could explain why there are no updates . . . Thanks. I had it in my head for some reason that it started yesterday. Computers should not be operated without a sufficiently high level of caffeine in the body.

    Anyone out there have any news on this tournament? I am traveling and just rolled in to town at 2am. I logged in to check out what I missed and not a single update has been reported. What's going on?

    Add my name to the list of those who think there are a lot of explanations for the man in question not shaking the kid's hand that don't involve malicious intent. Maybe he knew the other kids. Maybe he didn't make eye contact with this one kid as he was walking by. maybe he was somewhat distracted and didn't realize that he had omitted one. . . Perhaps he was being a jerk, but I have no reason to accuse him of that based on your story. And it does, indeed, seem like you were intentionally watching him extremely closely and interpreted his oversight in the worst way possible.

    Mater Dei went 5-0 with a combined score of 308-42. That includes 30+ point wins over both Castle and Bloomington South, and one meet where I think they wrestled a lot of their reserves. I am not saying they WILL beat Crown Point, but you seem to be convinced that the runaway favorite is CP. "Not so fast, my friend!" -- Lee Corso

    When does this tourney start? If someone would be so kind as to post the results, it would be most appreciated.

    I don't know if they will "walk" through the tournament -- Castle has a really strong team. This will really be the first big test for MD, and will say a lot about how much they have improved this year. Should be interesting.
