South Vermillion win two matches over Turkey Run and Rockville

CLINTON, INDIANA - The South Vermillion Wrestling Team hosted the Warriors of Turkey Run and the Rox of Rockville for the first home dual match of this season. The Wildcats won both of these matches by the scores of 74 to 6 and 63 to 15 to improve their season record to 19 ? 8 before a huge home crowd.

 

The meet began with Josh Farley earning a decision by score of 13-12 against Nathan Lutz of Turkey Run. Farley was trailing Lutz by a score 12-6 starting the third period, but Farley took control and scored seven points to win the match. The next two matches found John Gross and Alex Thomas receiving forfeits for the Wildcats. The Wildcats took a 15 to 0 lead over the Warriors.

 

At the 145-pound class, Ross Hoggatt scored a technical fall over the Warriors' Jeff Girdler by a score of 15-0 at the start of the third period. At the 152 weight class, the Warriors' Matt Loudermilk pinned Robby Kelly in the second period at 3:35 to score the Warriors' only points of the match. John Natale at the 160-pound weight class received a forfeit for the Wildcats. The 171-pound class found Michael Novak received a forfeit for the Wildcats. Next up for the ?Cats was Lucas Kelsheimer at the 189-pound weight class and received a forfeit. Wildcat's Austin Russell earned a pin against Tucker Evans at the 215-pound class. Trent Wallace at the 285-pound weight class for the Wildcats pinned David Catterson in the first period at 1:10 seconds. The Wildcat's Troy Price at 103-pound class; Spencer Bishop at 112-pound class; Tyler Smith at 119-pound class and Dalton Millikan at 125-pound class all received forfeits. The final score was South Vermillion 74 and Turkey Run 6.

 

In Junior Varsity action, Jordan Brower of South Vermillion earned a pin over Cody Jones in the first period at 46 seconds at the 285-pound class.

 

The Wildcats then faced the Rox of Rockville with the action starting at the 135-pound class. South Vermillion's John Gross wrestled Joe Leatherman and started the Wildcats off with a win by the score of 8-2. Alex Thomas scored a quick takedown on the Rox's Dalton Wood and earned a pin at 1:05 at the 140-pound class. The Wildcats were leading 9 to 0 over the Rox. Ross Hoggatt earned a pin over Jake Eslinger of Rockville in the first period at 1:00 in the 145-pound class. Robby Kelly at the 152-pound class lost by a pin by Rockville's Josh Hill in 42 seconds.

 

At the 160-pound class, John Natale received a forfeit for the Wildcats. Michael Novak earned a pin over Jake Conglio of Rockville in 1:43 at the 171-pound class. Rockville earned their second victory over the Wildcats when Jarrod Paxton decisioned Lucas Kelsheimer by a score of 6-3 late in the third period. At 215 weight class, Robby Foster of Rockville pinned Austin Russell at 3:13 in the second period. In the heavyweight class, Trent Wallace received a forfeit for the Wildcats.

 

At the 103-pound class, South Vermillion's Troy Price earned a pin in the first period at 1:31against Rockville's Tyler Rayborn. Spencer Bishop earned a pin for the Wildcats at the 112-pound class at 56 seconds against Chris Wilcox. In his first Varsity action, Garrett Jammes pinned Brandon Knoblett in the third period at 4:14 at the 119-pound class. At the 125-pound class, Dalton Millikan earned a fall over Alex Vanhook in the third period at 5:27. The last varsity match of the evening found South Vermillion's Josh Farley pinning Cameron Riggs in the second period at 3:46. The final score was the Wildcats 63 and the Rockville Rox 15.
