  2. Here are the pools for the 40th Annual Fox "Ron Sauer" Dual Tournament (from www.missouriwrestling.com) Three pool rounds will be wrestled tonight beginning at 5pm (CST). 3. Yorktown made it safe and sound to St. Louis tonight for the Fox HS "Ron Sauer" Duals. Thank you to those coaches who offered to take us into their event if we needed another option. Good luck to everyone this week-end and safe travels. Trent McCormick @YtownWrestling
  4. Yorktown is scheduled to depart tonight for the St. Louis area for a tournament tomorrow night and Saturday. At this point in time we are planning to make the trip, but obviously, we are watching the weather closely. If circumstances would prevent us from traveling to Missouri this week-end, I would like to explore the option of jumping into a tournament in Indiana that may have an opening this week-end. I certainly don't wish cancellations on other teams, but if the weather should prevent a team(s) from participating in your event this week-end, I would very much like the option to bring Yorktown. Everyone is certainly watching the weather, so I am not asking for a firm contract right now; but if you think it could be a possibility, please give me a call and we could discuss potential options. Thank you, Trent McCormick tmccormick@yorktown.k12.in.us cell: 765-282-9136

  8. This event is held at Yorktown Middle School in East Central Indiana. We typically have around 10-12 solid teams compete at this event, BUT we have moved the date back a few weeks this year from when we have traditionally hosted it over the past few years. The informational flyer can be accessed by clicking on the link associated with the event advertisement here on Indianamat.com. If you have any questions regarding this event, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you, Trent McCormick tmccormick@yorktown.k12.in.us

  10. Chandler Carroll was selected as national finalists for Wendy's Heisman Award. ESPN at Yorktown HS today. Chandler, and his parents, will travel to New York City in December to take part in the Heisman selection program. Congratulations Chandler. We are so proud of you. 11. Congratulations to Chandler Carroll, YHS student-athlete, for being recognized as "a Wendy's High School Heisman Award recipient for the state of Indiana." Press release below. ================================== Yorktown High School 1100 S. Tiger Drive Yorktown, IN 47396 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 6, 2013 YORKTOWN, IN – The Yorktown High School Athletic Department is very honored to announce that senior Tiger student-athlete Chandler Carroll has been awarded the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award for the state of Indiana. Carroll was one of only two winners chosen for the state of Indiana (1 male and 1 female) for this prestigious award. More than 48,000 student-athletes throughout the country applied for this award that was started 20 years ago by the founder of Wendy’s, Dave Thomas. The program was designed to recognize high school seniors who excel in academics, athletics and in their communities. There were 1,020 state finalists, 102 state winners and from those 102 finalists, 12 very deserving individuals will be announced in the coming days as national finalists (six males and six females from six different regions). Those exceptional individuals will be invited to New York City next month to participate in the collegiate Heisman weekend festivities. “I couldn’t be happier for such a well-deserving young man.” said Athletic Director Dan Wolfert. “If you had to look up the term “student-athlete” in the dictionary, I just know there would be a picture of Chandler Carroll in there. It is very rewarding to see all of this fine young man’s hard work on and off the playing field truly paying dividends. Chandler is as talented and yet humble at the same time as I’ve come across, but he deserves every bit of the recognition that he is receiving. He is such an asset to our school and a great role model for the youth of our community. We wish him the best of luck at the national level of this program and we are very proud to call him a Tiger.” added Wolfert. 13. Thank you Edb41! I saw last night that one of the female teams out of Virginia already had around 500 "Likes". I am not a big Facebook user, so I don't have a massive network in that regard. I am not sure how it will turn out, but I thought it would be worth a try. Coach McCormick
  14. Med Express, a national open door health clinic, is hosting a Facebook fundraiser. Teams from across the country had to register their team by September 1. As far as I can tell, we are competing against roughly 15-20 other athletic teams from across the country. I don't think any others are wrestling teams (if I am reading it correctly). The competition lasts until Sept. 14. It is very simple... the team with the most "Likes" on their team page at the Med Express Facebook site will earn $3000. There are also monetary amounts attached to 2nd - 5th I believe. Anyone out there who Facebooks, I would very much appreciate your assistance by clicking (or copy and paste) on the following link and "Liking" our team page in this competition. The last time I checked, the leading team had 400 "Likes" as of this afternoon. Thank you to the Indiana wrestling community for any assistance you can give the Tiger wrestling team on this project. Coach McCormick

  20. Updated roster We have had no fewer than 95 campers attend our camp over the past 10 years. This is about the time camp applications start coming in. I will be updating the camp roster post more frequently from this point on. Coach McCormick
  21. I say it makes em tougher... they should have made them do 3 laps!!! With their prom date riding on their back!
  22. Sounds like these kids need to learn how to do bear crawls correctly! Unless they were heat blisters from the hot asphault surface, how in the heck do you get blisters from doing bear crawls? If that would have been me as a kid, my dad would have laughed and told me to not miss practice next time.
  23. When Merrillville declined their position, Penn became the automatic Merrillville semi-state bid. The next position that became available due to this shift went to Cathedral. Cathedral accepted their invitation/bid earlier this week. This is where the selection committee began as it went through the selection process to fill the final two positions in 3A.
