Friday Night Live wrestling is geared toward a night of mostly live wrestling. Most programs practice during the week focusing on moves, technique, etc. Friday Night Live is a chance for wrestlers to try out what they've learned. It also serves as a way for wrestlers to get more mat time but to also wrestle with kids outside of their own home wrestling rooms. Friday Night Live is for elementary and junior high wrestlers only. NO HIGH SCHOOL wrestlers while the season is underway. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reply to this post or you can contact me Rashaad_T@Hotmail.com. Thank you.

FNL is an opportunity strictly for elementary and junior high wrestlers, not matter their level, from the surrounding areas to get together and for an hour or so and just wrestle live. This is a chance to wrestle live and apply a lot of what they've learned FNL is this Friday 11/16/12 @ 6:00pm and will go to about 7:15pm/7:30pm. It will be held in the Columbus East Wrestling room. 19. Like any sport, starting out you coach kids in general...rules, fundamentals, etc...as that kid starts to excel and develop you get more specific...as a wrestling coach of a whole team, I can't coach each kid individually...at least not during team practice...not enough time...but I will start to see what works for certain kids and what doesn't...some kids are short, some kids are tall, some kids are quicker than others, some kids are stronger than others, some kids like certain moves...a coach should be able see what works and what doesn't for his kids...he should spend time covering a whole g***NO NO NO*** of moves and then stress to the individual to perfect what works for them...I tell my kids, they will be exposed to hundreds of moves but will only end up using a handful...a good coach will coach to their kids strengths...he will also expose his weaknesses...but that is for the wrestler to learn from and become better... ...it takes more than just "mat time"...it takes the right kind of mat time...practice doesn't make perfect...perfect practice makes perfect...
  20. Graham Rooks...my man 50 grand...but I'm bias...ha...
  21. After reading some of these replies and having a few conversations, in retrospect, I almost regret posting this topic. The purpose of this post was to create an intellectual conversation about a rule. How it came about, its interpretation, and implementation. I did not create this post to single out any person, group, team, family, or any other collective. I tried to use terms like ?we? & ?us? and even edited the post to reflect the spirit in which I was trying to come across. But somehow we?ve have strayed the other way. We have let our opinions cloud the vision of the bigger picture I want personally & publicly apologize to anyone who was singled out or felt like they were being singled out. That was not intention. And now we have people commenting on how ?silly? this topic is, but still feel the need to participate. Now that?s ?silly?. We have people criticizing parents for wanting the best experiences for their children and sacrificing for them, to take them to tournaments out of state. That is definitely not cool. As we all know, this should be and is about the kids. And there is nothing wrong with having a competitive spirit as long as it is fostered in a positive way. I just wanted to discuss a topic. As I thought that was the purpose of the message board. For individuals to share their views comfortably and confidently free from ridicule. This rule was a decision of a group of people. No one single person calls the shots. Let?s make sure we ?don?t kill the messenger?. Again, I apologize for creating a negative environment. And for any stress, bad emotions, or ill will that this post has created. I love the sport of wrestling. As I?m sure we all do. ??agree to disagree is the nature of men?as long as we still respect each other in the end??
  22. Thanks for the timely reply Matt. I appreciate it. I had read the thread you referred to earlier. I should've just replied there, instead of starting a new topic. My bad. Thanks again.
  23. my thoughts are: Either we are going to allow 4 kids on each elementary team, not meeting the team criteria, or not. There shouldn't be any other restrictions beside living in the state of Indiana. If this is suppose to be mimicking Disney Duals, I don't believe they put any restrictions on the 4 wrestlers not from that original high school. You get four wrestlers period. I might be wrong on this so correct me if I am and I apologize. But still; We think we are helping teams with the extra 4 wrestlers. But when we add the 45, now 30 mile radius, we are doing more damage than good. The only thing we've done is make the strong/big teams stronger. And the not so strong/little teams weaker. Everyone knows its a numbers games. The bigger the pool, the better chance at talent. That's in everything. That's reality. That's why we all heavily recruit, in a positive way. A team in a heavily populated area, such as Indianapolis or its surroundings already has the numbers. A 30 mile radius is now allowing heavily populated areas to go across town and do exactly what we say we don't want to happen. Hire guns. While a not so populated area, such as Scottsburg, a 30 mile radius does absolutely nothing. We haven't helped them. And we haven't help the kids in small towns with no clubs. They still don't get to participate because they don't live 30 miles close to a club/team. Meanwhile the teams in the heavily populated areas are getting the pick of the litter. The question we need to ask ourselves is, what is the purpose of the extra four wrestlers? Is it really to help fill teams and allow wrestlers with no clubs to participate? Or are we just half way implementing something? Either you allow 4 wrestlers(or you might even drop it down to 3) with no restrictions beside living in the state of Indiana or you don't allow any extra wrestlers at all and teams gotta roll with what they got(just like High School). just my 2 cents...
  24. I thought Cade and Graham Rooks from Columbus wrestled in this tournament?
  25. A team pulled out so we are open for one more team. I've already got one email out to a team. First come first served. Thanks.
