  1. you're right Bob I also believe he could be in the 1/4 finals this year, however he did not make it to semi-state last year so by the threads criteria he is a dark horse.  He was a sophomore last year and a back up to Conner Tolley his freshman year.

Maybe it's me Loki27 if I see a kid in my mind getting to Bankers Life I can't call him a dark horse...JMO

  2. Quinn York from Franklin at heavyweight

Not exactly a dark horse he was the HWT for Franklin last year and I think just a freshman, and by far the best underclassman Bernard wrestled other than Streck last year. Very big, strong, and agile Wes just broke him hence a 14pt victory but don't let that fool you... I see him at least to the quarterfinals at Bankers Life!!

  3. Bob, I think our 3 state titles prove we can play with the big boys. And while we have had a couple of move ins, you can't really equate that with what Cathedral can do. No one is saying it is against the rules...we just operate in 2 different worlds.

My statement isn't demeaning to any of the schools mentioned Dave, but the fact is all the schools mentioned have had stud wrestlers that aren't what some would call home grown. Why is it a stretch to think my son would attend a school that his father and uncle (who's a wrestling coach) attended in Cathedral? I did not perceive Dave the post I addressed as a Perry person, but I do question a person who is concerned where a private schools students come from not to mention the rules clearly state you can drive crosstown or cross state if one so choose.

  4. I just don't see how you could say they "truly deserve it."  At md, most of those kids go to the feeder schools. Cathedral has kids from greenwood, new pal, etc.  How do they deserve it?  Just cause they haven't achieved it?  I really wouldn't say that if the first time those kids saw Cathedral's wrestling room wasn't their frosh year.

The rules clearly state a student can go to whatever school he wants without penalty unless he switches schools, so quit your crying and yelling foul and learn to play with the big boys. If you don't think PM,EMD,Yorktown,Mishawaka,CP ect... hasn't been getting move-ins over the years for whatever reason than your delusional!!!

  5. [

    285

    Bernard

    Porter

    Beeson

    Maxey

I like your thinking!  Maxey got a great draw to have a good chance of advancing.  He has improved a lot this year and has been coming on strong.  Match wtih Clay should be interesting.  I personally think Beeson will be in Championship round and will give Bernard a much better match than last time around.

Good luck to Mr Beeson but the winner or Porter vs Tarwick will be in the finals....JMO

  6. Shawn Streck.  285. Everyone thinks that Bernard is just going to walk over everyone, but I'm willing to bet this young man gives him a run for his money.

Streck is a very good wrestler, but the #2 ranked kid in the weight class is hardly a dark horse....

  7. 106- Bailey

    113- Smith

    120- Red

    126- Micic

    132- James

    138- Hughes

    145- LeCount

    152- Macri

    160- Corsaro

    170 McCloskey

    182- Rypel

    195- Kral

    220- Miller

    285- Bernard

    Team

    1) Cathedral- 3-4 champs and 2-3  in top 4 just too many guns

    2) Penn- the most placers

    3) Perry- 2 champs and a couple placers

    4) EMD

    5) Franklin

  8. i dont know about any of you but if this is accurate then Id say Miller is pretty damn good

Felt like a take down was not given that Wes was due in this match, but make no mistake Miller is tough. He is much better than a year ago, Wes and Fletcher are workout partners at CIA and wrestled each other at every practice.Miller was in on a good shot in the match, and was in this match throughout.

Wes has only gave up 1 take down in 2 years now and that was in his loss in the semi's at state last year, I think Wes is 30-0 with only 3 matches not being falls so far this year. So make no mistake considering how well Miller wrestled this match and his willingness to bump up, he and Robinson would be a great finals this year!

  9. NO EXCUSES Zach my son clearly got beat hands down, and cost his team the dual. You don't need to say anything else. Trust me if anyone is making excuses it isn't coming from my house. Congrats to all the Cathedral kids who stepped up and did their part!

We win as a team and loose as a team, and no one person wins or cost their team a meet!

  10. Streck from Merrillville has been on a roll.  I think it would be a good match up against Wes in the finals.  (If that is how it plays out, of course.)

Wes has said he fully expects and looking forward to seeing Streck and or Hemmgarlan (sorry about butchering his name). Good luck to all the above mentioned and lets wrestle....
