  1. Now that every wrestler and fan has BACKED UP their talk and the smoke has cleared ,as we get ready for the semi's, let me maybe make a few little suggestions. At the regional it takes a village to put one of these things on, 6-8 people at the timer and scorers tables. 4 people to keep the brackets filled in properly. And countless others who have things to do, I know I have put some time in. #1 make sure the weight class is on the score board for the current matches.#2 For the wrestlers their family friends and classmates announce their names this is THE REGIONAL.#3 Take time to post and keep brackets available to the fans for all to see.

Little extras are away to increase and keep fan interest . Maybe this was one regional, but it should be one to many. The Wrestlers and their families deserve better.

  2. Daddy Young was doing all the shooting in the match till the end, one guy pushing the action the other playing defense, Paul will learn and be smarter next time.Or the striped shirt will make the stall call .

  3. Herb, at the time of the match,Manuel, had been dinged with a warning. With Youngs agressive style you would think the way the matched had gone so far that he would get a TD or a stall point in the last two min. Second point have you seen Manuel ride? He's a pinner and very good on top. IMO I think they made a good decision, although the outcome may not reflect it this time. This guy Young will turn some heads soon, His time is comming.

  4. And which coach was it?  After my time at nationals, I wouldn't surprise me if it was Tom Erikson!

    BTW Is Coughlin redshirting?

It was Erikson, kind of under his breath, then complained that he wasn't talking to the ref. He got hit two years ago down there also I believe.

  5. I have to say for cellar dwellers this was a very enjoyable match to watch. The Indiana flavor really set the tone for these two teams, in very close and good wrestling. I can see improvement on both squads from top to bottom. Indiana wrestling fans that couldn't make the trip down to Bloomingburg you missed a full house of boosters on both sides. Hopefully with a few more blue chippers our two schools can climb a little higher in the conference. Indiana wrestlers are making a name for themselves all over the country.

  6. I would like to chime in here, about 4 years ago on the other discus board a person I think was southfan? really let the Northview coach know in a way I thought was maybe to direct, mostly about the vision problems, you cannot see the mat, mats on your side of the gym. You have to go from one side to the other to see your match.Coach Miksel sp. was very responsive if I remember to southfan. But this venue is a shame to the kids ,the fans and most of all to Indiana wrestling in general. And its still going on. Kind of tells me the old saying"quit beating the dead horse"  Every one wants to improve the sport but the status quo prevails.

  7. Disco you must really have a problem with hernandez. how many times has he beat you or someone close to you. How about you give us some of your credentials. Maybe you should stop bashing the IU program.

eau contraire, just stating facts and things as I see them.I do not wear rose colored glasses. I'm at every home meet, know a few of the wrestlers, coaches. Was around the program before coach G. took over. I'm really one of their biggest fans. And I love to see all the wrestlers do well. So you can't accuse me of hate.

  8. I don't think any one should make excuses, the program at IU has been in dismay for umteen years. The reprieve has been Joe D. and Angel E. winning the big one, but the facts are most(85%) of the wrestlers that enter the program either regress or stay the same by graduation. Don't get me wrong I'm not calling for Goldmans head here, just stating the obvious. At this point in time any wrestling tradition IU had has long passed us to the point of who would really consider this job? You might say oh there are plenty of guys that would jump at the opportunity, yea but , these same coaches could make the situation worse.High profile established winners are not going to beat down the IU ad's door to apply for the job. So here we sit, get the second or third echelon recruits and hope for the best,AAing is great. I'll take it.
