No one has yet to pin EVERY match throughout a Varsity Season in the State of Indiana with any HUGE number. There are wrestlers with alot of PINS , but have been offset by Forfeits or Injury Defaults. Results of Mat Burns ?Pick the Champions Contest? at the TEAM State: Out of the almost 300 entries, only 14 correctly picked Perry Meridian as the TEAM Champ. The CLOSEST to the winning score went to 3 people as they selected 33 pts:Jordan Amacher, Ted Patacsil and Kirk Johnson. None picked Lawrence North as the runner-up, so going to the next criteria -closest to the runner up score of 21 pts - Kirk chose 28pts, Jordan 29 and Ted 30. So Kirk would have won that battle. Our contest Winner - Bryan Rohl of Westfield (a Center Grove grad) picked another school to win, as did our 11 "runners-up". None of the 11 picked Perry Meridian, so closest to the winning score would have gone to Mitchell Wilson with 34. A side note: NO ONE ,in all of the entries , gave Lawrence North a vote as either 1st or 2nd! Every other team received at least 2 votes. Even Yorktown got 3 votes as runner-up! BRYAN ROHL of Westfield , IN is the CHAMPION for Mat Burns 2011 Pick-The-Champions Contest. Bryan correctly picked 12 Winners for 2011. Bryan wins 2 tickets to the 2012 State Meet. He had some tough competition. There were 11 people with 11 winners, including former Champ Mitchell Wilson and the Rankings Guy. Our Wrestling Family has lost a member here on earth. God has placed John a little higher up in the stands to watch and observe all that he has brought upon us. He will always be with us as a member of the Family. He will be with the Bellmont Nation even more for all of the young men who have stepped up to represent the Braves. Most Champions have turned in few entries. Mainly to change the Team Scores. Jim Hopkins of Decatur gives me ONE entry every year on Saturday morning. Helen Mankey turns in 10-20 entries, most on Saturday morning. Only 200-300 entries have come in (including e-mails) the last few yars. IF you're going to be there , how about asking the Tournament Director to send Mat Burns a copy of the FINAL results in the BRACKET form? That way you don't have to do any real "work" and you can still watch all of the Great Wrestling Going On!!!!

What does a Mat Burns Rep Do?? At the Sectional & Regional, we try to get a copy of the Final Brackets and Results. The top 6 are on the IHSAA web site, but the other results are in the Bracket results. The IndianaMat.com does a great job of getting the brackets ahead of time , but if there is a change they don't know about - like the morning of - that's one of your jobs. Most of the Sectional Directors I have met have been good about getting a copy of the Final Bracket Results to out Rep when they ask for it OR the Rep can ask to have the final brackets e-mailed to me. This has been no trouble in the past. The biggest problem is when our Rep sticks their nose where it shouldn't be. Oh, and don't go crazy over a good or bad call. We are classified as "Media" and they are NOT supposed to be as loud as all of the other FANS. Sit back in the stands. I have been politely informed of this to me even at the state meet, and I hardly ever get loud . . . any more. Any further questions , let me know.
