I wouldn't be surprised to see North look for a way to opt out of hosting this even after a year or two.   It is a tremendous amount of work and the dedication to put this type of event.

Regardless of what we want or don't want, we are stuck with it

I hope it runs smooth as silk.

Plus, a lot closer for us.

I enjoyed the tradition of the past 40 years at Castle. And...I don't mind change, but I've always been cautious of some of the IHSAAs decisions regarding our great sport.

  2. Wow! I remember my first Regional was at MD 76-77 school year. Then in 77-78 school year it was moved to Castle??? I believe Jasper pulled off a big team win that same year. (Someone correct me if I am wrong!)

Castle is a tradition...and it works! The table workers are on top of it, locker rooms, parking lots, accessibility, all easy....I don't get the reasoning in the change?

    PS: Hey JPT 189

  3. I'm not sure, but isn't Yorktown's coach from Delta? Craig Campbell was at Jay County when we had D.J. Radnovich at State, and one of my best friends of all time Chris Campbell is back in the swing of things at Greenwood. I'm sure there are more.

  4. People creating accounts with the sole purpose to bash referees.

    Internet tough guys making threats

Idiots calling kids out even after they win a state title

I believe that those 3 points make for good criteria..Y2

It's funny how that you can take 3 individuals: one for wrestler A, one for wrestler B, and one with "no dog in the fight" of a very close and tight match. And, after the match concludes, all 3 have different perspectives on the match itself, and the officiating of that match.

It does make for interesting reading.

  5. Great programs take their bumps and bruises and find ways to rebuild and reload. You see it in every program, not one team will always remain elite without a blemish. Mater Dei is still Mater Dei, and has a great coach in place. They will be back, they have some very good individuals on the middle school level right now. It is tough to realize it with Mater Dei only taking two to state this year and even Bellmont with  only one qualifier, but both teams are reloading right now and both teams have some real good quality coming up.

Absolutely correct and good post(s) by you and jjacoby.

We like Blake and Matt right where they are at...lol!

  6. I emailed Steve Ford two years ago and asked him why there were so few wrestling stories that year. He told me that he had been promoted to a different job and he did not cover high school sports any longer. He said he would talk to the high school reporters and see what he could do. Shortly after that he did a few wrestling stories. Im am not sure if it is his job or not anymore.

...but while he was interviewing coaches at SS last year I noticed that he had Ronco's Pocket Fisherman in his back pocket!

  7. Can someone please post the match scores and the list of undefeated wrestlers for the day?

I had hoped it would be in today's Evansville courier.

As did I, Jon H.. Not trying to hijack this thread, but coverage seems to really be lacking from the Courier. I couldn't believe that there was nothing in the next day's paper after the Battle of the Westside!!! Who is covering wrestling this year?

  8. If I remember correctly Reitz won at 106 by fall, 113 by dec., 126 by decision, 195 by fall and heavy by fall.  Total matches went 9-5 MD

If Reitz had pins at 106, 195, and hwt ='s 18...and decisions at 113 and 126 ='s at least 6. How did Reitz only have 21?

  9. Let's see...The man coached twins to state titles and you want to focus on his footwear?

Ok folks, I have to say it...GET FREEKING REAL!

He could show up in flip flops and a kilt as far as we are concerned!

Well as long as he doesn't go into the tripod moves...

That's hilarious...he'd look like William Wallace!

  10. Hey those grass stained tennis shoes were armani originals.   that was just the print of the shoe.... If you were a fashionista like coach Harmon   you woulda known that...

    Semper Fi

That's funny! And Semper Fi back at you...!

  11. I wonder who that was... cough cough Bob Harmon... Nice suit and tie, and then instead of finishing off the outfit with a nice pair of shoes, he chooses to wear his grass-stained tennis shoes.  It looks like he just got done push mowing the lawn!

Hey ...If I could"ve had a program that produced as many State Champs and place winners as Bob has had....I would've wore tennis shoes with grass stains. Bob's one of a kind and one heck of a coach. Who really cares what he wears? JMO!
