  1. Depends on the style of wrestling you pick,   We vary nationally in our state ranking in Folkstyle, Freestyle, or Greco from year to year.  Indiana seems to not get much respect as a top 10 state some year.  One reason is because we do not have most of our the top wrestlers attending national events and our results in those events are vary up and down each year.  The national opinion in many past years is that in general (all styles combined) Indiana is right in between top and average wrestling states (8th-15th).  However, as indiana wrestlers continue to preform well in national high school events and Indiana boys in college continue to shine the respect for Indiana wrestling is starting to increase.

  2. Maybe not the top story but one we point out to those not suceeding in our program.  We had a guy who didn't win more than maybe a handful of matches in his entire middle school career.  He looked like a little pudge ball of a guy.  Just got another handful of wins between his freshman and sophomore year, varsity and JV combined.   Around .500 at best as a junior.  Then went on to a 40 win season and place in state as a senior.  Goes on to attend West Point and eventually starts on the varsity team.  He last year there he was tied for the second most wins and had the most pins on the team.

  3. D.J. Radnovich pinned all 4 of his opponents back in '98, with 3 being in the 1st period, according to IHSAA.org.

He was a beast of a man for sure.

Gibson Southern.  He also had a 4 second pin that year as well.  Just grabbed the guy off the whistle like a rag doll and set him down on his back.

  4. How about the same idea with one from each of the rest of the semi-state getting honerable mention for regular season and tourny too.  That way we can throw some respect around to each area of the state.  It would also show the hard work of certain individuals in a few weight classes instead of just one guy at one weight.  Same concept as wrestler of the week but recognize the best of the entire season.  Maybe one MVP and the other three are honerable mentions.

  5. While they have made several advancements with the Pro-Wrastin games and the MMA fighting games I don't think they would have the moves down enough to make a great regular wrestling game.  As mentioned before, aspects of wrestling would probably work as a Wii type game but even then they would have a hard time selling enough units to make it worth the amount of time they would have to put into producing it.

  6. Hard to pick between those two.  A few other guys stand out whose list of national accomplishments could also add them to the argument, as well.  I do think that it is impressive that Taylor has jumped a few weight classes from 112 as a junior to 135 as a senior and is still wrestling well.  This should really help him prepare for the tough college schedule he will face at Iowa State.

  7. From the chatter on the board it sounds like he will also be wrestling.  Not sure on the exact rule on that one since I have not heard of it before.  However, I know that some West Point students that were did not participate in the traditional sports (wrestling, track, football) or dropped from that sport while still attending West Point.  If the rule is true I'm sure they have several other none traditional sports that may also fall under the catagory of athletics in order for those students to follow that rule.

  8. I'm not saying which is the USSR and which is the US, just pointing out that in the end all the animosity did was hurt  everything else around them.  Why do some people act like everyone must pick sides?  Then those that point out they shouldn't have to pick just get labeled as the problem by the ones who have.

Hey don't forget the Soviets did have  cool hats and great wrestling.

  9. It like the Soviet Union vs the US, with the rest of the world watching.  Words are being thrown around and people are acting like everyone has to take sides.    When its over, nothing gets accomplish and the rest of the people are just drained and resentful that the whole entire conflict spilled onto them in the first place.  Honestly, in the end does either site or the wrestling community even gains from all of this?

Currently we have two different boards.  Two different apporaches to content that will be  cover (focus on coaches info and focus on wrestling match info)  So we have two different ways to get info and help wrestling.  Co-existance is actually possible, especially since both sites are focusing on different aspects of Indiana wrestling.

  10. Good to hear, hope he's planning on wrestling there, as well.   Only a small few ever get invited to attend West Point from around the country.  In recent years many of those invited from our state have been members of the wrestling community.

  11. If football coaches can keep track of TACKLES, which is THE MOST SUBJECTIVE STAT THERE IS IN ANY SPORT, we can put together season stats for Takedowns, Escapes, Reversals, ect.   I've got mine ready...whenever you need em JC!!!

One slight difference would be that most football teams only have one game per week and several people doing stats during and after the game for them.  That gives them several days to organize stats for one game.  Wrestling on the other hand has several meets in a weekend and/or some during the week with usually only one person trying to do stats after they are doing with coaching duties.  If the wrestling team only has one or two coaches that is a lot more to do for them compared to a one game a week multi-staff football program.  You take that into consideration and its is easly to see why several teams have a little harder time keeping up with stats compared to the football counterparts.  Most coaches probably do get the stats organized by the end of the year events, but I would say many are a week or so behind until those events are close.  I'm sure thats not the sole reason stats are not reported to places like this, however it does make a difference.

  12. I think that disorder is called Anti-Y2CJitis, the symptoms including arguing against anything Y2CJ41 says!

I could say this pen is blue and you'd argue that it isn't:)

Is there a pill I can take for that one.  I'm sure it will be a hard one to swollow if it does exist.

  13. From what i hear TripleB has been banned from the board for a short time.  So not sure when he will be back on.

Yeah I guess some people didn't like his "dander being up" over some matter on the board and put him on a mini vacation from the board.  He said he'd be back shortly, when apparently it was back to normal.
