  1. Next think you know we'll be hearing about Wesley English getting cloned so he can have another chance at a Tsirtsis.

Jason is a phenominal wrestlers but I can think of one or two guys around his weight that if they put together a solid game plan could hang with him to the end.  And at that point anything could possibly happen.

  2. Isn't Goldman for Bloomington North wrestling 215 this year? I see he's ranked at 189... :P

He has been at least a few times lately.  But I looked at that as more of him helping to fill out the line up to help the team.  Could be to get some work in against bigger guys to push himself physically and even prepare maybe to go 197 in college.  May be something that has occured since Bloomington North is just now getting some of their guys back form football and he'll move dwn once those guys are back to full wrestling mode.  I do think he could get to 189 when and if he wanted at any point in the year.

  3. HHC Duals

First two rounds start tomorrow evening

@ Jennings County:  Seymour, Bedford, Columbus East, and Jennings County

@ Floyd Central: Madison, Floyd Central, New Albany, and Jeffersonville

Last 5 rounds on Saturday morning/afternoon

    All teams at Jeffersonville

  4. Trinedad hit it on the head.  They both obviously serve a purpose that is good for your team.

Super Duals offer more mat time for everyone on ythe team which equal more experiance for each individual.

Tournaments get your individual wrestlers more comfortable and prepared for what the state tournament series will be like.  The talented ones get top notch mat time against a few more good kids than can fit in a normal Super Dual.  The lesser skilled kids don't get much time but at after the first round they may face at least somone closer to their level before being done.  The guys who mess up early on learn even if individually they may not have had the best day they can still help their team score points in each round of wrestle backs..

Each team will be different in which they may need more of and when they need each in their schedule during the season.

  5. I might have missed something but I don't feel like sifting through all the prior posts.  Did Boomsma cut back down to 103?

The current word on the street has been Pike didn't return and Boomsma will be at 103.

  6. I've suggested before a semi-state vs semi-state All-Star dual tournament at the end of the year.  It would basically be the top guy at each weigth from each semi-state.  Seed the based on individual state placements and then have 4 vs 1 and 2 vs 3.  Winners face off in the finals and losers face off in the consolations.  Thats 2 matches per kids and the crowd gets 4 total matches at each weight class.  It may be possible to do the same type of thing at the start of the season too.  That would thus increase the number of competators state wide and bring in a more even number of people from those areas.  You still get the same great matchups but with a longer event and some evidence of how each semi-state would do that year at state.  Not quite the College All-Star meet but definitely interesting to fans from each area of the state, especially those who always want to compare semi-states against each other.  Semi-State tournament dual series would offer several decent matchups to over look some of the #1 vs #2 you didnt see,  last longer to be worth the travel, bring in an even group from all parts of the state, and  bring some hype by also offering the semi-state vs semi-state angle.  I could see the choosen semi-state coaches when compiling their team trying to use the semi-state pride motto to try and get a few top wrestlers and coaches on board that may hesitate.  Nothing like getting a rivalry going that you can extend from year to year.

If a perfect central location can't be found I'm sure alternating alternate between a north-central and south-central location with enough gym space could be possible.  Our gym may be on board for a south-central location.

I do thing the biggest issue would be fall sports in general though.  They will cut into many of the best matchups if it was just a 14 match meet.

  7. Jamal Lawrence (UNI) fetured as part of the "Monday Match" (Best match of week).  Though the end result doesn't go his way he does show some good scrambling throughout the video

Mitchell Ritchie (IU) get the "Takedown of the Week" honors with a explosive high crotch finish that thankfully came down safely for 2 points.

  8. State Finals wise seeing someone win four times  or a good battle that results in a OT win is always good.

People would be suprised at the amount of good matches that get forgotten in the earlier rounds of state just because it wasn't the finals.  I can think of many that were great matches which came right down to the wire.

Not sure if I would called it the greatest I've ever seen but ever time I think about state I hope to see another scramblefest like William vs Sessa final  in 05.

against Steven Bradley (Beech Grove) Ended up losing after hitting an edge of the mat double and didn't get the toes in.

Well better memory than me against Bradly.  I got in on a deep single leg and he still managed to rip it off straight to the most perfect headlock I had ever been put in.  It wasn't choking the life out of me I just couldn't move.  I always said he looked like Skelator off of He-man back then though.  Not that I was ever big but he definitely dwarfed me in physical appearance back then and I was cutting to make weight.

  9. Any results from New Albany, BNL, or Seymour??

Seymour had first meet Tues. against Bloomington North winning 42-33.  We will face Hanover Southwestern this Tuesday.  Still figuring out some weight issues and battle a little sickness (as are most) but hopefully that is better figured out before duals.  We do have a large number of freshman on the squad this year that will help in building us more depth over the next few years.

  10. Good to see you keep bringing this classic one out every so many years Joe.  Way to feed some egos.  We do have a few guys on here like AJ, decbell, Drooke, Dingo Brigade (where's he been) etc.... that do deserve some credit for their continued research, articles and other additions to the board.
