  1. cathedral has so many wrestlers that were the cream of the crop and still didnt make it . i believe the early- mid and late 80s teams of chs were the best. the 84 class had a 49-1 dual meet record losing only to the 3x state champs delta by 1 point at the iupui naditorium, in what i believe was the largest crowd ever at a high school dual meet .(the 88 team also lost only one dual meet in four yrs thats impressive)there are names like mike mcginley sq(one of the toughest sobs ever, next to billy terry), tim phieffer sq, joe mcginley 2x runner up. gilbert durham sq,kevin troy sq(he also beat state champ locke in the delta dual meet)john maio, steve troy sq, billy terry 3rd in state, sean mcginley runnerup. eric guhl ,todd mackell, and many others. in fact the cathedral teams of the 80s were so tough we had state qualifiers that couldnt make the team the next year.i actually couldnt name a dream team for cathedral except for the great ellis and cope , because you had guys in that room (that were not state champs)that could and would beat a lot of the mentioned state champs if they had been in the same era . the competiviteness in that room and intensity was very tough to take not to mention the tyrant that rhodes was. lol
