  1. So you were comfortable with the boos Stevens had to take? There were classless chants on both sides.
  2. The "where is Trent came from the student section" and it was very uncomfortable. Trent came unglued and stood at the corner of the mat with his hands outstretched and said "I'm right here." Snyder pushed him off the mat. He did not handle it well at all. Looked like he was wiping tears from his eyes. Had to be tough for him, but in Penn's defense, their chants were in response to the Mishawaka students chanting "where is Alex", referring to a wrestler who was sick tonight, and their continued booing of Stevens (who ended up pinning his guy). Stevens showed some real grit being able to take all of the negativity that was hurled at him tonight. He did it with class, too. It really doesn't matter who started the chants, though, it was pretty crass on both sides.
  3. Seems like the Cavemen kept getting injured when the momentum shifted. There were alot of guys with leg cramps and "questionable" injuries that occurred when things started heating up. Mishawaka did not wrestle like a state champion team, but I think they were coming off a rough weekend. This is always a good rivalry, so I drove over to watch it, even though I figured Penn would get killed like they did last year. This was nothing like last year's Penn team. Harper has done a great job with these guys and this is a team to watch. Mishawaka needs to get out and do some wind sprints. The score does not reflect the matches. I suggest the Cavemen stop reading their own publicity and get back to work. They did not pin nearly the number of guys I figured they would. All in all I'd say it was a moral victory for the Kingsmen and a wake-up call for the Cavemen. The fans on both sides were quite emotional. There were a few classless chants from both student sections. That made the night both interesting and uncomfortable. Definitely a heated rivalry.
  4. I guess I'd just like to understand the "let him wrestle" people's point of view. Are you saying he didn't break any rules? Are you saying the rules should be disregarded because someone violated his privacy, or because he is a senior, or because he could have gotten a scholarship? Are you saying there shouldn't be any rules? Or do you feel you have more facts available than the family was able to present to the IHSAA? Do you think they were incorrect in their decision? Could they have been biased or "bought out"? I see a lot of "let him wrestle" but I'm curious why you feel that way. I am really only looking for non-emotional, fact-based answers. We all feel bad for the kid, but that should not sway the independent decision-making process, should it? Also, do you always beleive 100% of what you read in the paper?
  5. I think the Elkhart Truth does a good job; however, the south bend tribune iis another story when it comes to Wrestling.
  6. Hey, Tipthescales, how do you undo a year that has already happened? Do you have a time machine? If he wasn't eligible, the punishment needs to take place. You have to take away the entire experience and that can't happen retroactively. Very unfortunate this was his senior year. From what I've read, he's a good kid and he'll land on his feet. Hopefully, he learned a really good lesson from all of this and maybe some of the other wrestling programs will also learn a lesson. I agree with others who have said to change the rules, but follow them until they change. A lot of energy is wasted complaining/speculating about the creeper who took the videos. The real issue is that a 5 person review board said he wasn't eligible. I would guess they had information the family is not fessing up to in the article, but who knows for sure. As for his move, come on, he was unhappy because a teacher accused him of cheating! When I read the article, it seemed obvious that this was done because he wanted to be on the dominant local team. Unfortunately, there is the right way to make this happen and the wrong way. They chose the wrong way and got caught.
  7. so whos going 103 for the cavemen is it going to be a good match at that weight class
  8. i wouldnt count Penn out of this. they are young, but are starting this season strong.
