So Surma had the legs in on Corpe and there was no stalemate called? Usually there's stalling called on the guy on top before there is on bottom, when riding legs.

His boxing was wild haymakers and his grappling wasn't impressive at all. I mean, I wouldn't fight him, but Lesnar would give him a beatdown. I think Anderson Silva could give up some pounds and still beat this dude...

As being a UFC fan, I thought Saturday's fights were lame. If Fedor is the world's best fighter, he needs to come to the UFC to fight. He wouldn't survive...

The wrerstler that stated on October 29th that he was not getting on this website anymore, was active on this site this past Wednesday. What can you say, this site's addictive.

It is not that hard for a wrestler to stay "under the radar"  for a year maybe and that's if he didn't do well. You get to semistate and you are on the radar until you're out of school or quit. Sectional, regional, SS, and State stats are all over the internet. Most newspaper clippings are on this site in the results.

Ultimately rankings mean nothing. They're mainly interesting to the old fart, armchair wrestlers like me. Yes, I live vicariously through my sons. Hey, I own them... ;D

The wrestlers need to know that on any given day, anything is possible...period.

Also, Y2CJ41 mentioned about the rankings- "It also gives a heads up to colleges looking for kids". That's a good enough reason for rankings to me!

Im just asking because I know penn has really good wrestlers this year. I think they have a better shot then you guys think

I wouldn't be shocked if it happened. Would their match be at Penn or Mishwaka? Mishawaka, under the lights is a bit distracting, but cool. Stranger things have happened, I mean Mishawaka beat Penn in football. We'll see if that happens again tonight.

The idea that somehow a boy is in a no-win situation makes no sense. It's a sporting event....

 

The fact that a boy has to wrestle a girl period, he will take some flack from at least one of his buddies for it... it's just life as we know it.

Then if he would happen to lose the match, you can just imagine what would happen.

I couldn't see his team carrying him around their shoulders for beating a girl (and I'm not talking about the extreme example of the girls on the college team, I'm talking in general).

I have a step daughter and cringe when I hear this topic. Personally I think girls should have every opportunity that boys have, but wrestling against boys isn't one of them. I have seen some girls that do compete as well as any boy and present themselves very well, but I've also seen girls that were on wrestling teams that seemed to be doing it for the attention and nothing else (not like I haven't seen the same for some boys).

A couple of years ago they had a girl in Sports Illustrated that won state in wrestling in Alaska, so it has happened. So there...

I think it's hilarious how this subject just aggravates some to no end.

I can't believe no one mentioned this!  Who has ever put a bathroom scale in the kitchen at Thanksgiving?  Was your favorite Xmas gift ever the movie Vision Quest?  I think everyone in my family has a copy of that movie.

The best part is that no one returns it, or regifts it!  I turned a copy into my librarian once to have her fix a bad section of VHS tape.  She didn't want to do it until I convinced her it did belong in our K-2 collection of movies  :-X  Seriously, if your riding in the car with a bunch of friends and "Lunatic Fringe" by Red Rider comes on and everyone in the car starts singing, your all wrestlers.  If you hear Madonna's "Crazy For You" and you think of funning in a silver sauna suit, you gotta be a wrestler. 

 

If you have ever gaged the quality of a run by the number of songs you played on your ipod, you gotta be a wrestler.  Actually for me it was a casette tape, Guns-n-Roses, Appetite for Destruction  8)

In my era (late 70's), the movie was "Takedown" starring Lorenzo Lamas. I saw it at a theatre downtown Elkhart and was amazed that there was actually a movie about wrestling. The inspirational songs were "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions"! And if you chewed gum and spit in a cup, you were a wrestler...

If you're talking about moving up during the school season, you're out of luck. That's just the way it's always been. He's got to wait his turn. After season is another story. Just don't tell them his actual age (unless they ask for a birth cert). Who's gonna complain that they got beat by a kid that's still in jr. high (or elementary)? I can't think of any tournaments this past year (after school season) where they asked for proof of age.
