  1. I'm always suprised by the huge audiences that we get for high school wrestling!  Unfortunately, businesses who make a living by supplying the wrestling community do not seem to realize the size of the market they are missing.  With more financial support LIVE VIDEO Wrestling broadcasts would catch on like wildfire around the State of Indiana.

I guess people think basketball is better than wrestling.  Boo!!

If you were at Penn last night and saw how many cars were in the parking lots and across the street, wow it was just unbelievable! It looked like they were hosting the State Football Championship or something. That place was hoppin'!

  2. Thanks for bringing so much attention to wrestling in our area Coach Snyder!  It is nice to turn on the evening & late night news and actually see high school wrestling in the sports cast.  For those who have never been able to attend any Mishawaka meets they are an event.  There is always lots of buzz around each match.  Although, when the match is at Penn the atmosphere is not as great as when it is in The Cave.  Last year I was fortunate enough to referee this match at Mishawaka.  When I left my lockerroom to cross the gym floor for weigh-ins there was a DJ stand with 2 - 6' Bose speakers playing "Crazy Train!"  THIS WAS BEFORE I STARTED WEIGH-IN!  The mother's hanging the 6' banners on the balcony needed mood music I guess.  After I left my locker for the last time I found all the lights had been turned out except for a spotlight and the floor in front of the bleachers had been filled with TV cameras.  The atmosphere could only be described as a rock concert with mats!  Despite all of the blood, spit, and fire in the fight, after the match it took on a whole new feel.  It turned into something of a reunion!  The mats were covered with old rivals sharing stories and retelling their favorite moments of the night's action.  I'm telling you, I have been to team state, individual, nationals...  If you ever get the chance to come to a Mishawaka match don't miss it!

Rumor has it, Mishawaka turns the lights off because they can't afford the electric bill! ::)

  3. Just some things I've notices so far in this young season.  Hostetler from fairfield IS the man, no doubt, he and the rest if his team have at least clinched a share of the conference title and should have that all to themselves soon, they could have several kids make noise down the road.  Hostetler beat Schrock 13-0 two weeks ago.  Heard Schrock had to cut a lot to get to 171 and is struggling with strength issues right now as he has a handful of losses on the year so far, I believe.  Hopefully he gets it figured out cuz he definetly CAN make some noise.  Also Bateman is 145 right now and is cleaning house, has only gone to the third period once this year.  But he does appear to almost always be the smaller guy so I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at 140 later.  Smith at lakeland is in the same boat, waxing everybody and also appears smaller so not sure if he and schrock would eventually switch or not.  One side note on a heavyweight, Zimmerly from westview looks stronger and is undefeated in what is a pretty weak field of HW's, but someone to keep your eye on for sure.

    GO NECC

Zimmerly has been beaten by Forrest of Jimtown...

  4. As someone stated earlier: Pin = 6 points, TF = 5 points    If the TF were better, it would be worth more.  Giving up a TF rather than a pin can be the difference in your team winning or losing a dual meet.

Bingo! I'm sure there's coaches out there reading this topic and shaking their heads...

  5. How do u feel about wrestlers that drop down a couple of weight classes to wrestle 103 or 112

My opinion is that if you have wrestled 103 or 112 for 2 years already it is time to move on also if you are a joiner or a seiner no way u should be at those to weight classes it will ruin your carrier and it can?t be good for your body so stop cutting and move on.

    Did he hurt you?

  6. Update:  Yorktown Defeated Muncie South Side 68-9.

Winners for Muncie Southside included:  Armantrout (112)  Fall

                                                                                   Bradley (125)  Decision

There will be some good action at 112 with Armantrout, Que from Central, Lenig from Penn, Alexander from Concord, and that Jimtown kid...

  7. First I?d like to say this is a great topic!  The one thing I was always told was this? Nobody ever said Wrestling was easy, Nobody ever said you wouldn?t feel any pain, Nobody ever said that there are times you wouldn?t get hungry.  You are not the first wrestler in the history of the sport to suffer, and you will not be the last one to suffer.  Be proud of the fact that you suffer, brag about how much you suffer?.but when you complain about something that everyone else is going through in the room it just brings the team down.

If Wrestling was easy, we?d never have an issue with numbers, everyone would be doing it.

Those kids, who go through practice everyday, day in and day out, those kids that suffer pain, stride for perfection, and need carried out of the room at the end of the night they are so exhausted are the tough kids.  The kids that stay after practice, bust it year around and put up with all the negativity they get from people that just don?t understand wrestling are the tough kids.

Those kids that endure a sport where almost everything about it sucks, until you step on that mat?.

When your foot sinks softly into that mat as you walk towards the center to shake hands?. There is no greater feeling in the world and all of the pain and suffering quickly goes away for that brief moment of silence right before the whistle blows.

Now this is one heck of a great post sir!

I agree! It hit the nail directly on the head. At the end, I could almost smell the mats...

It's a weird and crazy sport and a lot of people just don't understand, but I do. I'm so happy wrestling season started!

  8. I saw the countdown last night.  I gotta say I am liking Penn more and more.  He didn't seem as big headed as he had in the past.  IDK  Diego might be in store for a nightmare.

    I think you're right...

  9. I heard Penn looked fat and bloated in his interview with joe Rogan at UFC 10 Finale.  If he aint in shape, Sanchez will crush him.

I think that Penn has a big head (literally) and just appeared that he was bigger. Just look at the picture above, he has a massive noggin!

Penn asked Sanchez about something that Sanchez had been telling the media about he'd meet BJ in the middle of the mat and punch it out all night long and Sanchez wouldn't answer the question. He talked all the way around it, but wouldn't bring it up. Sanchez looked worried and Penn looked PO'd.
