  2. January 19, 2011 WRESTLING WEDNESDAY: Pirates going for another MSC title Thursday Charlestown has won last five conference crowns By KEVIN HARRIS Kevin.Harris@newsandtribune.com The Jeffersonville News and Tribune Wed Jan 19, 2011, 12:34 AM EST > SOUTHERN INDIANA ? The Charlestown wrestling team has had its share of success in conference meets this season. On Dec. 11, the Pirates claimed their seventh consecutive Mid-Southern Conference Duals championship. Last Saturday, Charlestown won the Southern Indiana Wrestling Conference meet. Thursday at Corydon, the Pirates will be going for another conference crown as they will compete in the MSC Championships. They will be vying for their sixth MSC title in a row and their eighth league championship in a nine-season span. Charlestown head coach Adam Doherty, who has been a part of the previous five MSC crowns as either an assistant or head coach, gives a couple of reasons for the Pirates? Mid-Southern dominance. ?A big part of it is our lineup is always full,? said Doherty, who stated that some of his MSC rivals have not had full rosters at the meet in the past. ?Another part of it is our schedule is strong. Six of the 20 teams on our schedule this season are ranked. That helps us get better by the end of the year.? Doherty thinks several of his wrestlers have a shot at capturing individual MSC titles. That group includes Ethan Bowen (189 pounds), Jacob Hall (160), Cory Suddeth (152), Justin Wolf (125), Logan McCutchen (215), Ryan Miles (145), Seth McCutchen (171) and Cameron Stuart (135). ?I like our chances,? Doherty said about winning another MSC title. ?We did well in the MSC Duals. We?ve definitely gotten better since that time, so I definitely like our chances on Thursday.? One thing Doherty hopes his wrestlers do is find a way to bring home some individual titles. Despite winning the SIWC crown last weekend, none of the Pirates collected an individual championship. Five Charlestown grapplers reached the finals, but not one of them won. ?If we finish strong, we should be in good shape,? Doherty said. Injuries have plagued Bulldogs this season Eric Burres has dealt with his share of injuries during his 12-year tenure as the head wrestling coach at New Albany High School. But he has not battled a rash of ailments as strong as the one that has plagued his team throughout the 2010-11 season. Seven different Bulldogs have been out of the lineup at some point this season. That has forced the New Albany coach to rely on inexperienced wrestlers to fill some of the holes in his lineup. Burres also has had to forfeit some weight classes at several meets. Despite the adversity, Burres says his troops have soldiered on by displaying an inspired work ethic. ?We have had more injuries this year than we have had in the 12 years I have been coaching,? Burres said. ?We have had more injuries this season than others. But we have a good group of kids who are working hard and getting better every day. We have been fighting a string of injuries this year, but I am confident the kids will finish the season strong.? The most significant injury has been to sophomore Tre Marler, who qualified for the semistate last year in the 125-pound weight class. Marler had shoulder surgery in the fall and was expected to be back by last weekend?s Hoosier Hills Conference meet. But Marler has needed more time to recover from the surgery, so he has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Two New Albany grapplers got hurt during the HHC Duals in the first weekend of December in freshman Austin Ward and senior Cheyenne Conn. The Bulldogs finally got the pair back for the HHC meet last Saturday. Conn finished fourth at 215 pounds, while Ward was fifth at 125. ?I was impressed with the way he wrestled,? Burres said about Conn. ?It?s been a long year, but we have some people starting to get healthy.? Despite the return of Ward and Conn, New Albany had to forfeit three weight classes at the HHC meet, which were 103, 135 and 140. Burres said another obstacle the Bulldogs have had to face this year is not having enough wrestlers who can meet weight requirements in a specific division. ?We don?t have a lot of kids spread out. A lot of them are in the same weight class,? Burres said. ?We have some good young kids and a lot of them are freshmen and sophomores. If we can get them spread out, it would make a huge difference.? Even though the injuries have hampered the Bulldogs this season, they have picked the best time to get healed up. The postseason will start a week from Saturday at the Jeffersonville Sectional, and Burres says his wrestlers are ready to compete in the state tournament. ?It?s been tough and kind of a challenge. But the main thing is we are getting healthy for the sectional,? Burres said. ?We always gear our season toward the state tournament series.? The Bulldogs will tune up for the sectional Saturday by hosting the New Albany Invitational. The dual-meet format tournament will welcome five schools, which are Martinsville, Indian Creek, Southwestern, Providence and Louisville Manual. The New Albany Invite will include seven grapplers who are currently ranked in the top eight in Indiana in their respective weight divisions. ?You want the kids to do well as far as getting them to peak at the right time,? Burres said. ?It?s been a real frustrating season, but I?m optimistic about the end of it. We?ve had a lot of ups and downs, but we?re focusing on the state tournament series. They?re working hard every week and getting better.? Meenach, the No. 4 seed at 119 pounds, pinned the Rebels? Austin Spary, who was the top seed, in the semifinals to earn a trip to the finals. Meenach then won the championship with a pin at the 3:32 mark. Massingham became the second wrestler in New Washington history to pick up a second SIWC crown. He captured the 140-pound title with a pin at the 2:33 mark in the final. ?Brady wrestled with grit and guts and held nothing back in his matches. He practices with intensity and that has paid him good dividends this year,? Mustangs? head coach Jeremy Campbell said. ?To know that Lane had never wrestled prior to him joining the club his freshman year, it is a testament to his will to succeed. He has found the critical balance of strength and precision when he wrestles, and it makes him frustrating to compete against.? New Washington freshman Jacob Franklin (160) was third, and fellow freshman Yancey Crase (130) wound up fourth. The Mustangs were ninth in the team standings with 111 points. 3. January 15, 2011 HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING:Red Devils take home four individual titles Jeffersonville third, Floyd Central fourth at HHC meet By KEVIN HARRIS Kevin.Harris@newsandtribune.com The Jeffersonville News and Tribune Sat Jan 15, 2011, 11:55 PM EST > SOUTHERN INDIANA ? The Jeffersonville wrestling team came up short of winning its third consecutive Hoosier Hills Conference meet Saturday at Madison High School. The Red Devils finished third with 220 points. Columbus East captured the conference title with 244 1/2 points, while Jennings County was second with 222 1/2 points. Floyd Central finished fourth with 157 points, and New Albany wound up sixth with 103. Four Jeff wrestlers took home conference championships. Red Devil junior Alonzo Shepherd won the 112-pound title, while teammate Tre Harbin was the 140-pound champion. Senior Renaldo Weekley won his third HHC title of his career, claming the 145-pound crown. Red Devil junior Elijah Curtley won the 189-pound championship. Jeff had five runner-up finishers in Kevim Castro (125), Brent Browner (152), Brandon Marlin (160), Jimmy Pratt (215) and Ryan Dewitt (285). ?Our kids wrestle a very tough schedule, so we were glad to see us take four champs when we had three seeded to win it, and nine in the finals when we had seven seeded,? Red Devil head coach Danny Struck said. ?We were disappointed in third as we could have taken second with one more win by any kid on the team. Jennings has beat us three times this year now, and we had hoped to knock them off this time.? Floyd Central had two grapplers reach the finals. The Highlanders? Terrence Kennedy placed second at 103, while teammate Chase Herron was the runner-up at 145. Finishing third for Floyd were Chris Whitley (112), Michael Kruer (130), George Emily (135) and Shane Sneed (171). New Albany?s highest finisher was Zach Faith, who placed second at 189. Teammates Austin Jamison (119), C.J. Reynolds (152) and Jacob Mudd (285) each finished third.

  8. WRESTLING WEDNESDAY: Jeff looking for three-peat at HHC Red Devils will have hands full, though with Jennings, East By KEVIN HARRIS Kevin.Harris@newsandtribune.com The Jeffersonville News and Tribune Tue Jan 11, 2011, 11:02 PM EST > SOUTHERN INDIANA ? The three area Hoosier Hills Conference wrestling teams each have their own agendas heading into Saturday?s conference meet at Madison. Jeffersonville will be vying for its third consecutive HHC championship. Floyd Central wants to finish in the top half of the conference, while all of New Albany wrestlers have their sights set on finishing better than they are seeded. If the Red Devils are to complete the three-peat, they must go through Jennings County and Columbus East, which won the HHC Duals in December. Jeff, Jennings and East are considered the three favorites to take home the HHC title Saturday. The Red Devils have lost to both the Panthers and Olympians in dual meets this season, and Jeff finished two spots behind Jennings, which placed second, at the Jeff Classic Dec. 18. ?It will be very tough to win it,? Jeff head coach Danny Struck said. ?Jennings County and Columbus East are both very good and they beat us in dual meets this year. The HHC is tougher this year in the top team spots than it normally has been, so the top three teams are really going to bring more than they have in the past.? Of the Red Devils? 14 wrestlers, half of them are seeded in the top two spots of their respective classes, which would qualify them for the finals. Jeff has four No. 1 seeds in Alonzo Shepherd (112 pounds), Renaldo Weekley (145), Brandon Marlin (160) and Elijah Curtley (189). Teammates Tre Harbin (140), Brent Browner (152) and Ryan Dewitt (285) are each seeded second. Struck also thinks Jeff?s Jimmy Pratt, who is seeded No. 3 at 215, has a good shot of at least reaching his championship bout. ?My goal will be to have 14 people in the finals one day,? Struck said. ?It has never been done in the HHC, but that will always be the goal.? Shepherd and Weekley are the only two Red Devils who won conference championships last season. Floyd Central head coach Brandon Sisson thinks it will take an unbelievable effort for the Highlanders to win the HHC crown. But he thinks Floyd is definitely good enough to finish fourth. ?Team-wise, it?s pretty far-fetched,? Sisson said about winning the conference Saturday. ?With us being such a young team, it?s going to be tough for us to win it. I definitely think we should be in the top four. I think the title is going to be between those three (Jeff, Jennings and East). Hopefully, we can go in and mess some things up.? The Highlanders have only one wrestler seeded in the top two. That grappler is sophomore Terrence Kennedy at 103. Five Floyd wrestlers are seeded third in Chris Whitley (112), Michael Kruer (130), Gus Schoenbaechler (140), Chase Herron (145) and Andrew Sharp (285). ?I told the guys that I just want them to wrestle better than they did the first weekend of the season. I think they can definitely do that,? Sisson said. ?We have a lot of three and four seeds. Chris Whitley has been wrestling well as of late. I think Andrew Sharp, our heavyweight, can reach the finals and also Shane Sneed (at 171).? New Albany head coach Eric Burres hopes at least one of his wrestlers can come out of nowhere and compete for an HHC crown. The top candidate to do that is senior Zach Faith in the 189-pound division. Faith has the highest seed among the Bulldogs as he is second. He will receive a first-round bye Saturday. In the semifinals, Faith will face either No. 3 seed Tyler Morrison of Jennings County or No. 6 seed Eugene Vivelo of Seymour. Faith defeated Morrison in overtime earlier this season, but he lost by one point to Vivelo. If Faith gets past his semifinal match, he will most likely wrestle Curtley in the final. The Bulldogs have one three seed in C.J. Reynolds (152) and two No. 4 seeds in Austin Jamison (119) and Bryce Peavler (112). ?I?d like to see our kids wrestle above their seeds, and that?s all you can ask for as a coach,? Burres said. ?Hopefully, we can get someone to rise to the occasion and win. We?re looking to place somewhere in the middle.? SOUTHERN INDIANA WRESTLING CONFERENCE MEET Charlestown will be vying for its second SIWC title in three years Saturday at Southwestern. But head coach Adam Doherty says that will not be a challenging task, as he expects to contend with the host Rebels, Paoli and Milan for the conference title. ?I think we?re going to be in the running. It will come down to some matchups between a few of those teams,? Doherty said. Providence head coach Patrick Fleming says this year?s conference championship is up for grabs. ?There isn?t a runaway favorite to win this year, so it should be a close tournament,? Fleming said. ?Charlestown should have several wrestlers make it to the finals, so I?d say that they have the best chance to win. But several of the other teams are strong as well.? The Pirates will have two No. 1 seeds in the SIWC in Jacob Hall (160) and Ethan Bowen (189). Teammates Brad Smith (140) and Logan McCutchen (215) both are two seeds, while Charlestown?s Justin Wolfe (125) and Cory Suddeth (152) are each seeded fourth. Fleming thinks four of his wrestlers have a shot at winning conference titles. They are Jared Griffith (125), Brennan Gregory (130), Jordan Kaelin (145) and Dalton Schell (171). Fleming hopes the Pioneers can do a better job of winning close matches than they did last season. ?Our goal for this tournament is for our wrestlers to place higher than they are seeded,? Fleming said. ?If they do that, then we?ll have a chance to finish well in the team standings. I think that several of our guys have a really good chance of winning their weight classes. I?d really like to see our guys wrestle through those tough situations and win the close matches this year.? Along with the Pirates and Pioneers, Christian Academy of Indiana and New Washington each will compete in the SIWC Saturday. The field will include No. 3 Evansville Mater Dei, No. 7 Bloomington South and No.18 Jennings County in addition to the No. 13 Red Devils, New Albany, Charlestown, Christian Academy and New Washington. ?My goal is to make the Jeff Classic the hardest individual tourney we wrestle in until the semistate and state,? Jeff coach Danny Struck said. ?I feel if I don't keep bringing in a top team to this tourney, I am doing a disservice to my kids in that preparation. Winning titles is fun, but so is playing X-box. We want our kids to learn that real fun, real rewards, comes with lots of hard work, and many times lots of heartaches.? Jeffersonville, which hasn't won the team title in the Classic in 19 years, has two top seeds in Renaldo Weekley (ranked No. 7 in the state at 145 pounds) and Jimmy Pratt (215). 20. WRESTLING WEDNESDAY: Jeff Classic features another tough field By KEVIN HARRIS Kevin.Harris@newsandtribune.com The Jeffersonville News and Tribune Wed Dec 15, 2010, 01:25 AM EST > SOUTHERN INDIANA ? In its 33-year history, the annual Jeff Classic wrestling tournament has attracted some of the best high school wrestling teams in Indiana. This season?s tournament will be no different. The field for the two-day tourney, which will take place Friday and Saturday at Jeffersonville?s Johnson Arena, will include two of the most prolific programs in state history in Evansville Mater Dei and Bloomington South. Bloomington South, which is ranked 16th in the latest Indianamat.com poll, has the most state championships in IHSAA history with 24. Third-ranked Mater Dei has the second-most state titles with 12, winning nine in a row from 1995-2003. Red Devils? head coach Danny Struck claims that this year?s Classic field is the toughest ever ? and that?s the way the Jeff boss wants it. ?We do try to win this tourney,? said Struck, who has guided the Red Devils to runner-up finishes in the Classic the past two seasons. ?However, we don?t schedule it as a tourney to win. Each year that we have earned second in this tourney, we have tried to add another team that can beat us. This year we added Evansville Mater Dei. My goal is to create a schedule that the boys cannot go undefeated on, and their goal is to prove me wrong.? New Albany head coach Eric Burres thinks the tournament is definitely more formidable this season. ?This tournament was already really tough,? Burres said. ?But some new teams were added to the field this year that will make it even tougher. Mater Dei was added to the field along with Northview and Christian Academy (of Indiana).? Tournament projections, based on the seedings, have Jeff finishing fourth in this year?s Classic. Mater Dei is projected to win the title, followed by Bloomington South and Jennings County. The Red Devils, who have not won the Classic title in 19 years, have lost to all three of those teams in dual meets this year. But their setbacks to Bloomington South and Jennings were very close, so Struck thinks Jeff has a shot of finishing second again this season. ?This could be a real tight race from second to fourth place,? Struck said. ?The year we win the Jeff Classic is the year I hope to win a state title. I feel if I don?t keep bringing in a top team to this tourney, then I am doing a disservice to my kids in their preparation. ?Winning titles is fun, but so is playing Xbox. We want our kids to learn that real fun and real rewards come with lots and lots of hard work beforehand, and many times lots of heartaches. That is why it feels so good to be at the top.? The Red Devils have two top seeds in Renaldo Weekley at 145 pounds and Jimmy Pratt at 215. Struck says Weekley, who is ranked seventh in the state, will have the toughest journey to the Classic title as his weight class has three other ranked wrestlers. Alonzo Shepherd is Jeff?s lone No. 2 seed at 112 and he is ranked fifth in the state. Teammate Brandon Marlin is a No. 3 seed at 160. ?With the addition of Mater Dei and with Bloomington South and Jennings County being so tough this year, I think we may have less champions than in past years,? Struck said. ?The number of champs doesn?t concern us as much as each kid wrestling above their seeds, and preparing themselves for the state tourney. We have two top seeds with Jimmy Pratt and Nado Weekley. We also hope to see Alonzo Shepherd grab a title at 112.? New Albany does not have one wrestler seeded in the top four. The highest seeds for the Bulldogs are No. 5 seeds in Bryce Peavler (119) and Cory Troutman (130). Teammate Chase Laughead is seeded seventh at 112. ?We have several kids seeded, but we do not have any No. 1 seeds,? Burres said. ?I would like to see one of our kids rise to the occasion and win their weight class. This tournament will help with the postseason tournament because there are several teams in our semistate wrestling in the Classic, and we will not see those teams until the semistate tournament.? Charlestown has a No. 1 seed and a two seed. The one seed is Justin Wolf (130), who qualified for semistate last season. Teammate John Slaten is seeded second at 285. Also for the Pirates, Jacob Hall is the fourth seed at 160. Christian Academy?s Levi Speth is the top seed at 152. But the senior, who qualified for semistate last season, will face a tough bracket that includes Mater Dei?s Tyler Raben, Northview?s Brandon Mikesell and Bloomington South?s Sam Horrocks. 21. BRACKETS ARE ATTACHED IN THE LINK ABOVE -written by grappler119 (not dstruck) 2010 Jeff Classic Preview The 2010 Jeff Classic is shaping up to be extremely competitive. The addition of #4 ranked Evansville Mater Dei definitely stiffens the competition. #6 ranked Bloomington South, #15 ranked Jeffersonville, and a very tough Jennings County team will all be in the mix as well. The tournament will feature 20 top 16 ranked individuals. There are 9 returning IHSAA State Qualifiers, 4 of those placing in the top 8. In addition to that, there are 31 Semi-State Qualifiers. Here is a breakdown of each weight class. 103 #2 ranked and undefeated Jacob Boomsma of Bloomington South will be a heavy favorite. He will likely face semi-state qualifier Evan Vibbert of Mater Dei in the finals. 112 #5 ranked and undefeated Luke Schroeder of Southwestern will likely face #9 ranked, 14-1, Alonzo Shepherd of Jeffersonville. This should be a great match as they have faced off twice in the past with Schroeder getting 1 victory in overtime and one by 1 point. However, neither one can overlook their semi-final opponents. Schroeder will likely have semi-state qualifier Gary Engleking of Jennings County and Shepherd will likely have semi-state qualifier Sam Goebel of Mater Dei, whom Shepherd defeated last week-end by a score of 11-3. 119 #1 seed semi-state qualifier Marshall Holwager will likely be in the finals against 3 time semi-state qualifier Robbie Taylor of Madison. However, he must first get by a tough freshman, Josh Pierre of Mater Dei. 125 #15 ranked Zach Henderson of Mater Dei will be the favorite and his likely opponent in the finals will be a very tough semi-state qualifier, Joey Resch of Jennings County. Henderson will likely face a tough Kevim Castro of Jeffersonville in the semi-finals and Resh will likely have semi-state qualifier Brady Meenach of New Washington. 130 #1 seed semi-state qualifier Justin Wolf of Charlestown will likely face a tough test against Jordan Schremp of Jeffersonville. #2 seed semi-state qualifier Connor Montgomery of Jennings County will likely have a very tough test against Mater Dei?s Mangold. 135 #7 ranked Isaiah Bradley of Muncie Southside and #12 ranked Quinn Schroeder of Mater Dei will be the likely finalists. However, Bradley will first have to get by semi-state qualifier Cory Neel of Christian Academy and Schroeder will have to get by semi-state qualifier Seth Seitzinger of Bloomington South. 140 #15 ranked Jake Lannert of Mater Dei and #16 ranked Spencer Boyd of Bloomington South will be the likely finalists. Boyd will have to first get by semi-state qualifier Lane Massingham of New Washington. Boyd will be looking for revenge after losing in overtime to Lannert last week-end. 145 145 is loaded. #7 ranked Renaldo Weekley of Jeffersonville will have a tough road to get into the finals. He must first get by #8 ranked Evan Weinzapfel of Mater Dei, whom Weekley beat last week-end in overtime. #4 ranked Ethan Farmer of Bloomington South must get by #6 ranked Zach Adams of Madison to get to the finals. Also in the mix is semi-state qualifier Nolan Feller of Franklin County. 152 Semi-state qualifier Levi Speth of Christian Academy got the nod for the first seed but will have to get by #15 ranked Tyler Raben of Mater Dei. Likewise, Northviews Brandon Mikesell got the second seed but will have to get by #12 ranked Sam Horrocks of Bloomington South. 160 #2 ranked John Simms of Mater Dei will be heavily favored. He is a 3 time state placer looking to get the elusive championship. He will likely face semi-state qualifier Justin Baldwin of Jennings County. Baldwin must first get by semi-state qualifier Brandon Marlin of Jeffersonville, whom Baldwin defeated earlier this season by 2 points. Other tough competition in this weight class are semi-state qualifier Jacob Hall of Charlestown and ISWA Triple Crown winner Clayton Fiddler of Bloomington South. 171 This is another tough weight class. #6 ranked Nick Manning of South Dearborn will likely face # 8 ranked Dalton Brandenstein of Mater Dei. However, Brandenstein will first have to get by #10 ranked Brock Wathen of Jennings County. Another wrestler to keep an eye on is undefeated Garrett Shepard of Paoli. 189 #3 ranked Josh Boots of Mater Dei will be heavily favored and will likely face 2 time semi-state qualifier Corey Crabtree of Muncie Southside. Crabtree will first have to get by semi-state qualifier Brandon Gunter of Batesville. 215 #1 seed and previously ranked Jimmy Pratt and will be favored. For the past seven years, one wrestling team has proven it is the best in the Mid-Southern Conference: Charlestown. On Saturday, the Pirates will try to continue that dominance. Charlestown will host the Mid-Southern Conference Duals, as it vies for its seventh consecutive title in the tournament. Along with their conference duals crowns, the Pirates have won the MSC individual meet championship the last five years and seven out of the last eight seasons. Even through the MSC championships have been great accomplishments for his program, Charlestown head coach Adam Doherty says his wrestlers concentrate more on the IHSAA state tournament. ?It?s a nice accolade for our season,? Doherty said about the conference titles. ?It?s always nice to win a tournament respected by your community. But our focus is the state tournament.? The four other conference foes participating in this weekend?s duals are Corydon, Pekin Eastern, Salem and Scottsburg. Also, Hoosier Hills Conference representative New Albany will compete in the tournament. ?I?m not sure what all the teams have back, so we have as good of a chance as anyone to win,? Doherty said. ?If we wrestle our best, we should win the conference title.? Doherty expects three veteran Pirates to be factors at the MSC Duals. Seniors Ethan Bowen (189 pounds) and Jon Slaten (285) each recorded undefeated records at last weekend?s Evansville Reitz Invitational. Doherty also thinks junior Jacob Hall (160) has a shot to have a good outing in the duals. Hall posted a 4-1 record at Reitz last weekend. TOP-NOTCH COMPETITION For the past several years, the Floyd Central wrestling team has traveled 273 miles to Calumet High School in Northern Indiana in early December to go up against some of the best competition Indiana has to offer. On Saturday, the Highlanders will make that long trek again as they will compete in the Calumet Duals, which is considered one of the best dual-meet tournaments in the state. The tournament will feature top-ranked Crown Point, No. 13 Franklin and No. 3 and defending state champion Mishawaka. Floyd Central head coach Brandon Sisson hopes the Highlanders, who will face Munster in the first round, improve on their 2-3 record in the tournament from a year ago. ?I?d like to go .500,? Sisson said. ?It will depend on the draws.? Sisson thinks two of his wrestlers have a chance to shine on Saturday in sophomore Terrence Kennedy and senior Andrew Sharp. Kennedy, who will wrestle in the 103-pound division, will try to follow up his undefeated performance from last weekend?s Hoosier Hills Conference Duals. Kennedy is currently ranked 10th in the state in his weight class. Sharp posted a 5-2 record in the 285-pound division at the conference duals. As for the rest of the Highlanders, especially the sophomores and freshmen, the Calumet Duals will be an opportunity to learn from some of the state?s top wrestlers. ?I think it helps us a lot,? Sisson said. ?The name of the game is to see the best competition. When you get to the state tournament, you should be prepared because you?ve already seen the best.? Sisson says another benefit to competing in the Calumet Duals is that it gives his grapplers a chance to face wrestlers from another area of the state. ?It is a privilege to wrestle in this tournament each year,? Sisson said. JEFF CLASSIC SILENT AUCTION During next weekend?s Jeff Classic, the Jeffersonville High School wrestling program will be hosting its seventh annual silent auction. Proceeds will go toward the Red Devil wrestling team, which will be used to buy team uniforms, furnish provisions and cover travel expenses. The Jeff wrestling team is requesting items that can be put up for auction. These items will be grouped into theme baskets and will be auctioned off based up their worth. The wrestling team also is accepting monetary donations, which are tax deductible. If any questions or to schedule a pick-up time for an auction item, contact Shayla Shepherd at 812-987-6027 or Jeff head coach Danny Struck at 812-786-2308 or 812-218-1672 ext. 15294. ******** WRESTLING RUNDOWN COMPILED BY KEVIN HARRIS CHARLESTOWN PIRATES POST 1-4 MARK AT REITZ: Charlestown collected one victory in its five dual meets last weekend at the Evansville Reitz Invitational.
