I hope I did not forget anyone, if I did, it is just an oversight on my part, and not anything intentional.

  2. I'd get DQed for fleeing the mat too many times.

Fleeing the mat, I am quite certain if I had to wrestle him, I would have a knee injury, or shoulder injury, heck I would use a stubbed toe as a reason not to wrestle him.

That might be a 1st, a stubbed toe keeping someone off the mat. Maybe TAE could research that and provide us with the correct answer.

  3. I'm not saying anything against CIA.  I've heard a lot of good stuff about CIA, but it is unfair to credit those wrestlers success with CIA alone.  I'm sure all those kids have had a bunch of coaches that have helped them.  I'm sure they all wrestled with a high school club and other places.  This area is really stacked with quality coaches.  That's probably the reason why this area generates a lot of really great wrestlers.

You are correct, giving coach P all the credit would be wrong, and he would be the 1st to tell you that. I can think of 3 distinct times when my sons wrestling has taken a leap forward. The 1st was way back in elementary school when we got invited to go into the CYO program over at Holy Spirit where he recieved some excellent coaching. The second was in middle school when he went and worked out with coach Redd up at LC, and 3rd and most significntly was when he stepped into the room at CIA. There he not only recieved great coaching from coach P, but also had some of the best practice partners in the state. That is what I believe is coach P's secret. He has some outstanding kids in the room, and helps foster a work ethic that is hard nosed, but also fun for the kids. We are blessed with a plethora of great coaches in this area, and throughout the state, but if I could give one piece of advice to parents looking to find that little something extra, contact coach P, if it is in there, he will help you find it. The one constant in all three instances where Nick has improved has been there were great workout partners in each of these rooms, and they all worked hard, and then played hard and knew that you have to have fun as well as beat em up practices.

  4. And if you expand that out to the top 5 or top 10, the list gets quite long. Coach P knows how to prepare guys for the run that is for sure. I would reccommend anyone that can get their wrestler in to see him and attend his camps, and clinics as often as possible.

  5. Man you really gotta zoom out to find me!!

Thats kind of scary how accurate that is..you can see my wifes Black Durango parked in the street in front of our house! HAHA

Did you see the chick laying in [you]'s back yard!?! :o

WOOO, thaere is a chick in my back yard and I did not know about it.....

  6. Wahoo for you.

I always enjoy the conversations with my friends and other I meet that always ask why do ya spend so much time doing that. You are always running around to this tourney or that one, and spending so much time and  money on it, what do ya get out of it. They just dont realize the cash is a very small investment that you make in the lives of your kids, the time means nothing if you are not spending it working on your relationship with your kids.

There has never been a reason that I could give them that they would understand. They dont see the friendships that only a wrestling person can see. I guess the next time someone asks me what I got out of it, my answer will be I got a life out of it that has provided me with a connection to my son that I might not otherwise have, it has provided me with many great friends that I know I would not have met, and it has provided me with so much enjoyment that the time and money spent have no real meaning other then a means to an end.

  7. To all you bantam, midget, schoolboy and middle school parents out there, trust me, it took forever for high school to get here, and as soon as it got here, it has gone by in a flash. Stop yelling and screaming at the refs, quit complaining about the coaches, sit back cheer him on, and enjoy the time, it does fly by once it is here. It was just yesterday I was excited and scared because my little boy was going into such a large high school, and now in a short time he will be leaving that same high school with a degree as a man, and moving away to a school in some far off place and I will only get to see him on a few weekends, holidays and during the summer, and then he is gone. It does not last, so enjoy it while it does.

  8. My girlfriend broke up with me because I went to a tourney instead of taking her to the prom. She said she loved me but I loved wrestling. Oh well.

A girl that does not understand the dedication you put into your chosen sport, sounds to me like you made the right call.

  9. A couple of spots here and there, but yes for the most part it was our regular line up. Ben Davis wrestled very well, and deserved the win, the differences in our line up would not have made up the difference in the score by any means.

RONCALLI GOES 5-0 ON THE DAY.

  11. FF, I am not feeling it now, I am enjoying his senior season, however when the tourney gets here and every match could be his last it will be gut wrenching. Unless he makes it to saturday at state, then I will be able to sit back and watch, knowing he has done what he set out to do, but until that time comes I will be on pins an needles.

  12. There is a place about 5 minutes by car, on Kentucky, it is called "Johns Famous Stews", when ya walk in you are gonna say wow, he told this place was good, it is a little hole in the wall bar and dinner, it has the best stew in town. To borrow a line from chunky, so thick you could eat it with a fork, but use a spoon, you'll want to get every drop.

There is another hole in the wall place over on Tibbs and Minnesoya, called "Manns Grill" very reasonable pricing, and you can feed two people with what they puton your plate, again one of those places that when ya walk in is a little dingey, and none of the boothes match, but it was a foundry dinner and has great food.

Neither of these places are within walking distance, so they might not fit into your plans, but if you get the chance, you will like them both.

  13. It would depend on the weight selected but yes I think if you can start with one of your stronger wrestlers and get some momentum for the rest of the team it can really set the tone for the meet. If you can come out and get 2-3 wins to start, then the guys following them wrestle a bit harded, fight for that take down just a bit harder, not wanting to be the 1st to lose.  However, if one of your "studs" gets beat, the oposite can happen. The team says wow, he got beat, what chance do the rest of us have.

Now an interesting idea would be to allow the home team select the starting weight, that would be an interesting topic.

  14. I am guessing the "Bobby Cox" trophy is out of the question......but if we did, it could be in the shape of a donkey, or the south end of a north bound horse.

Actually if ya want to honor someone pick a person from the past that has demonstrated a love of this sport like few other. I would suggets asking TAE for some input as he seems to be a great source of wrestling facts and history.

  15. yes and either Bellmont or Yorktown stays home. both desreve to be their ahead of Peru

No, neither of them deserve to be there ahead of a team that won on the tournament trail laid out in front of them. I am sure that many years a quality team  has been left behind because Perry was so dominant, or an LN or Cath. team got left home, because they faced each other in the sectionals, and then again in the regionals.

  16. There are a lot of ways that you could do this, you could do a weight class award, a semi-state award as regional(area not tourney) MVP's and then an all state MVP award. I mean once you start talking about this the possibilites become mind numbing. As far as what you end up doing, if anything will be greatly appreciated, and soundly discussed for a long time after the awards are given.

So are ya thinking just a mention only along with a cover story on the home page, or are ya thinking about something like a plaque. Y2, this can be something really sharp. Good luck, now that this has gotten traction, you might have to delete the thread to make it go away.....

  17. Well, I can tell ya the people from the Shelbyville (warren central this year) sectional were thrilled that we dont have to go to Perry again. The representative will have to wrestle a very tough New castle, and some rather tough teams from the Columbus, Seymour, and Jennings county sectionals.

A list of teams that feed into the Seymour super regional

    22.  Warren Central (10): Beech Grove, Eastern Hancock, Franklin Central, Greenfield-Central, Mount Vernon (Fortville), New Palestine, Roncalli, Shelbyville, Triton Central, Warren Central.
