  1. When did it change to just the champ?  Though that 1st and 2nd place went to team regionals.

this is the first year for the new format.  just the champion advances to a 4 team, team regional.  the winner of that goes to state.  there is no more team semi-state

  2. it has been a pleasure and an honor to do the rankings for this season.  the final installment has been posted.  now it is time to sit back and see how good of a job i did as they will surely be put under fire these last 4 weekends of the season.  good luck to all of those competing.

  3. rankings guy, will you continue to update rankings once the state tournament begins?

I have talked to Y2 and the team and they have urged that the rankings which come out right before the sectionals will be the last ones that I publish for the season.  Since the goal of these were to rank the 16 best wrestlers in the state, not the 16 that will make it to state, we as a team felt that this would be a good time to end the rankings.  I am, however, thinking about starting a new segment during the post-season which may incorporate some sort of rankings/predictions, but I really can't put anything together in my mind right now about what that might be.  If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to post them.

  4. I'm sure the  ranking of high school wrestlers is a daunting task, but Moats drops all the way to 10th by losing to a probable 171 finalist who was ranked ahead of him at the time they wrestled (which would seem to me that he should probably lose anyway), Browner goes from unranked to 11th, Phelps wins his conference title and falls out of the rankings.  Like I said earlier it it must be an overwhelming undertaking but the rankings seem confusing at times.

Moats did not "fall" after his loss to Atwood this weekend.  He has been 10th for awhile now.  Caleb Browner avenged an early season loss to then #11 John McAndrew of Floyd Central.  This avenged loss moved Browner back into the top 16 and the wrestler in the 16th spot, Mike Phelps, was squeezed out and dropped back down to the "watch list".  Hope this sorts out any confusion you may have had.

  5. the scores i got were ayersman over stevens 5-3, hawkins over coppinger 6-3, manes over escobedo 3-2, tsirtsis over acuna 11-0, thornton over valdivia 11-2, roach over lusco by fall, richmond over payne, jones over kazee, mcmurray over quiroz 11-2, myers over keough by fall,

  6. How do you feel about about people who talk there self up on the board. Does that get you ranked? Does it help at all?

I do take biases into account whenever I receive info.  So to answer the question, no it doesn't necessarily get you ranked, but if the facts are there and the kid deserves to be ranked, then getting his information out there is helpful.  However, that being said, I actually scrutinize the info that people provide about themselves more closely than from any other source.

  7. why is campbell ahead of phillips at 103? is it because of campbell pinning Stewart, or is it something else? i don't really have any personal attachment either way, i just figured phillips would move to #1 after Connersville

Yea Campbell has 2 very impressive falls on the year, and is an absolutely huge 103, so I gave him the nod over Phillips

In the beginning I spent countless hours getting everyone at the right weight classes and getting all the original information set.  Now that I have most of the info on hand and the good kids are either already ranked or on the watch list, I just need to update every weekends tournaments in the notable wins/losses and change the kids' rankings.  That said, my time is now down to about 6 hours every Sunday after a weekend of competitions, and another hour or two during the week with dual meets.
