  1. Update on Asian Games. Two weights have changed. It's now Goleij at FS 97kg over Azarpira and Sohrabi at GR 67kg over MR Geraei. Makes sense when considering Geraei's injuries. I would have like to seen Esmaeili though, he was the takhti winner at 67 after all.
  2. Because worlds are now hosted with all three styles together in the same event. The one in 2002 is strictly freestyle. Women aren't allowed to wrestle in the standardized singlets so it's simply impossible for worlds to be held in Iran right now. World cups on the other hand have been held in Iran much more recently and I believe one was supposed to be held in iran this year but got canceled. I also don't believe holding worlds in Iran would do much for the sport internationally. Wrestling is already popular in Iran, just because it's being held in Iran doesn't mean more Americans and Europeans will be tuning in.
  3. Mohsennejad dismantles Gharibyan who teched Nazaryan yesterday and qualifies Iran for Olympics. After the pin last year and now this, can't help but feel bad for him. Wonder who end's up going to Olympics for us. Mohsennejad, Dadmarz, Mohammadi, Nejati and a few others. No clear leader imo.
  4. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. There where no takedowns in the second. I was just saying Mohsennejad was controlling the mat yet he was called for passivity.
  5. All time reffing display right there. They gave Mohsennejad no chance at parre terre. Whatever. But wtf was that passivity call in the second. Mohsennejad was clearly the more active wrestler AND was controlling the mat. It apparently doesn't matter though they wouldn't want to hurt the uzbekis feelings by giving both points to the same guy. Poor Mohsennejad...
  6. This is the wrestling teams according to the official website of the Asian Games. I'm not sure how true it is because I've heard about both Goleij and Ghasempour for 97 but rest of it including greco team looks accurate to me. https://info.hangzhou2022.cn/en/results/all-sports/athletes.htm FS: 57: Ebrahim Khari 65: Rahman Amouzad 74: Younes Emami 86: Hassan Yazdani 97: Amirali Azarpira 125: Amirhossein Zare GR: 60: Meysam Dalkhani 67: MR Geraei 77: Amin Kaviyani 87: Naser Alizadeh 97: Hadi Saravi 130: Amin Mirzazadeh
  7. I remember Kayaalp lost to Kandelaki due to a fluky pin last year during a ranking event. This win was much more earned.
  8. Score was 2-2. Mirzazadeh got called for passivity for both rounds but no turns. He then gassed him out and got two late pushouts. One of which was in the last second. Congrats to Amin. The Olympic rematch will be legendary. Hopefully Lopez is there too.
  9. It's because Mirzazadeh was the more active wrestler in the first. Mirzazadeh was only called for passivity in the second. Riza in the second is not the same as Riza in the first, he would have surely turned him had it gone the other way. Mirzazadeh nearly got a pushout against him in the final minute of the match. that's what I believe he should focus on.
  10. It was essentially the same match as earlier today too. Oscar cam awfully close to getting a turn. This can't be the same tactic against Riza. Riza will 100% get a turn in the first period. Instead he should focus on tiring him out and getting a pushout. Riza's only weakness is his gas tank.
  11. Whoops thought he came low. Thanks for the correction
  12. That leg foul came at such a lucky time lol. I was expecting them to call passivity on Dadmarz but I guess there wasn't enough time. Well done to Dadmarz.
  13. If it ain't broke don't fix it lol. I'm betting it's the same exact gameplan against Oscar
  14. They do the quarter final matches of the same weights at the same time. A couple matches still left on mat D before Mirzazadeh will wrestle.
  15. The biggest difference between Geraei now and Geraei of old is that he gives up points way to easily. The first takedown came from Geraei taking an unnecessary risk to get on top while his hands where locked. He doesn't have the gas tank to climb out of holes. That Ukrainian that Mirzazadeh beat is the same that beat Yousefi. He's going to be a tough opponent for a while. Good on Mohmadi to tech a serb. I was getting last year's vibes after MA Geraei loss but at least the Serbs aren't op.
  16. My predictions for first 4 weights of Greco: 55: Kabolaev is on the other side but still not a great draw for Dadmarz. Don't know how good this serb is that he got in the first round but we are in Belgrade sooo... either way his next match would be against Uzun and the match after would be Azizli. 3 tough matches in a row makes it hard to predict a medal. (No medal but points) 77: Not sure who this Russian that MA Geraei got first is. Vlasov is probably injured but I think this is like the 4th best Russian at this weight. It's still a very tough bout for MA Geraei. After that it's an easier run till semis where he would meet Akzhol. All of this depends on if see MA Geraei of 2 years ago or the one of last year. If it's 2 years ago then I could see him reach the semis, lose a close one to Akzhol and get the bronze he usually does. If not then he could be out in his first bout. As a big fan I will try an be optimistic. (Bronze) 82: Ok draw for Mohmadi. Huseynov, Akbudak and Gonibov all on the other side but he still got a tough quarter. First he has to face the winner of Japan (guy who beat MA Geraei in Tokyo) and Serbia (we're in Belgrade...). Then he faces Filchakov who's the toughest opponent on this side imo. Mohmadi's inexperience forces me to believe he loses 1. (Bronze) 130: Kayaalp is on the other side to Mirzazadeh so it should be an easy silver. Even better is that Kajaia, Shchur, Acosta and Kandelaki are all on the other side as well. Only wrestler on this side I'm worried about is Oscar. He nearly got a gut wrench off on Mirzazadeh earlier this year which would have ended that match imo. I believe Mirzazadeh can gas anyone including Riza because of how hard he pushes the pace in the second, but it's hard for me pick against Riza so silver it is. (Silver)
  17. Time to clench my butt cheeks for the next 10 minutes...
  18. He still trains in Iran. Just not with Emami. 74 depth is insane. All of those will be hard fought matches. Still think Emami pulls through.
  19. That was an insane comeback. Serbs really like to show up in their hometown.
  20. 18. Hoping Abakorov upsets Uguev. 10 points at 57 would be great. Valizadeh would have to go through another youngster in Aman first though.
  21. I meant Yoshida sorry. It's tough waking up this early lol.
  22. Sidakov has taken no risks in all his bouts. All his takedowns where very calculated. Shame for Azarpira but this was exactly what I was worried about. Lowkey I want Nurmagomedov to win against Zahid and lose to Valiev now. Think that means 0 points for both Iran and USA in 92 at that scenario.
  23. Cambodian wrestler is trained by Komeil Ghasemi. Missed the match but I'm guessing he gave Geno a bit of a scare. Hope he gets pulled back in
  24. Arena UWW isn't loading for me either. It's probably down from everyone trying to access it. You can use floarena for now instead. https://arena.flowrestling.org/event/ba9fd9b1-9881-4250-a943-1400a233061b Is anyone paying for UWW+? Do you think it's worth it or is the stream a mess? I don't think IRIB3 is reliable enough to show all the matches.
